Lawyer says lawsuit filed against Deshaun Watson, who says he looks forward to clearing name
11:36 PM CT
Sarah Barshop

HOUSTON -- After Houston attorney Tony Buzbee said in an Instagram post Tuesday night that he has filed a lawsuit against Deshaun Watson, the Texans' quarterback put out a statement saying he looks forward to clearing his name.

Watson responded on Twitter to word of the suit, saying he rejected "a baseless six-figure settlement demand," and that this is "about clearing my name, and I look forward to doing that."

Buzbee did not specify the allegations against Watson in his post but referenced behavior with women and later told FOX 26 in Houston that "Watson went too far" with a woman who was giving him a massage.

"I have never treated any woman with anything other than the utmost respect," Watson said in his statement.

Buzbee is well-known throughout the Houston area for his law firm and unsuccessful 2019 campaign against Mayor Sylvester Turner.

It's not now, nor has it ever, been at all about your persistent stream of smug, arrogantly declarative, wildly off base and flat out wrong statements.

Edit: lulz for the out of the blue name drop.

Fun fact: When I'm not talking to you about how fucking stupid that last thing you said was, or reading the stupid thing you said, I don't think of you at all.

Talk about a miserable dork with nothing to do but think of someone else.

>of complete miserable dorks who don't have dick going on in
>your lives so you take out your lonely, miserable,
>jerk-off-4-times-a-day misery out on me.

Exactly. It's because we're miserable dorks who don't have dick going in , and we've chosen to take out our lonely, miserable, jerk-off-4-times-a-day misery out on someone.

And not just anyone- YOU. Of all people on this site, YOU won that attention, specifically, and definitely because there's something special about you that makes lonely, miserable people who jerk off a lot address the things you *say*- but it's not at all, nor ever has been, about the things you actually say.

We don't have families, friends, jobs, hobbies, money, etc, and we live in someone's basement. Yes, the fantasy you've created for your message board foes is totally real. You nailed it.

lulz

What's priceless about you is, you never, ever respond to the actual criticism of the things you actually said.

You ALWAYS run straight to personal attacks, ignoring completely the criticism itself.

You're delusional. You say exceptionally stupid things, and not in a diplomatic way. People can be thoughtfully well-reasoned, and be wrong. But you? You like to be wrong with your chest out, arrogant and declarative- only to, very often, have to do a complete 180 when reasonable people have thoroughly explained how and why you were way, way the fuck off base.

>In a way, I'm so thankful that I have you guys in my life,
>because no matter how negative I get personally, I'll at least
>never hate myself enough to type like you do.

No, you'll never like yourself enough to be intellectually honest with yourself enough to stop this psychotic delusion you have that the content within the things you actually say aren't what elicits the responses they get, but instead it's flaws within the people who respond.

Feel free to ignore the actual content of this, ignoring the criticism of the content of your own words and demeanor.

Because, as has been pointed out to you countless times, in real time, you respond to criticism of the content of your comments with insults on the person who makes them.

This time will be no different.

are you saying that because dabo (arguably the dumbest and most ignorant jackass in sports) vouched for a black athlete (his athlete) that this means that the athlete must be innocent of the allegations...because a trump supporting football coach wouldn't ordinarily support a black athlete unless he REALLY knew he was innocent?

Mind you, coaches are always gonna stick up for their guys no matter what no matter what regardless of race.

And aside from that, you'd think at this point that people wouldn't blindly vouch for someone because even 'nice' people are capable of fucking up in major ways and we've seen it time and time again.

And then the next level of stupidity are messageboarders vouching for professional athletes and people they've never even met. That's like...I don't even really know what to say to that.

Mysteriously, we’ve heard nothing about this since. No arrests. No major issues on or off the field. Yet, when Chip Kelly wanted to get rid of him, these convenient reports of his gang involvement became a thing.

I’m not going to comment on Watson’s case, but I will say that a team can find ways to intentionally smear a guy’s name if it works in their interest.

They likely already have trade offers on the table. How would instigating sexual assault rumors against their franchise quarterback benefit them in terms on increased quantity or quality of trade offers?

This theory would only work if the Texans higher ups are complete fucking idiots. Which is possible.

They’re gonna risk their biscuit with this type of shit and he’s gonna fuck around and Palmer them by retiring. And then he only comes back when the trade offer comes from a viable team.

I also don't know much about the actual allegations, so overall the allegations might not have anything to do with the team.

I could see a shitty, dumb, racist org like the Texans coming with a really dumb plan to keep him though.

He is the one who wants to leave and if this is all fake then this definitely wouldn't convince him to stay in Houston.

I'm not sure there's a precedent for a team telling a want-away player that there are no reasonable offers and the player just being fine with that so theory is still predicated on the Texans being very dumb.

so they don't have to trade him, but keeping him and having him hold out is not without risk or cost.

It feels gross for me to go down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole, before even hearing any details of the actual allegations. So my bad.

We don't know shit tbh.

We don't know public figures like some of us think we do - see Bill Cosby.

I also remember George Steinbrenner getting banned from baseball for the absolutely grimy way he went after Dave Winfield over contracts and money.

1) we're not trading deshaun and he'll get over it
2) we're not trading deshaun and if he doesnt like it then he will never play again
3) if we do trade him, we're going to destroy his name for what he's done to us

personally i'd call his bluff and go w/ #2. he's not actually going to sit man. and even if he does, then lets see who blinks. it wouldnt be me.

Even if the Texans were boxed into a corner over Watosn's demands, they still would have gotten a good deal for trading him; any offer was going to net them multiple first round draft picks and some solid player/QB. They'd at least have the building blocks for a rebuild.

If they end up waiving him/terminating his contract due to a moral clause or whatever, they get nothing at all, aside from cap space. They're already considered an inept organization, and now they'd be an inept organization who was out to wreck the career of a top-tier QB. That's not a good tactic to draw in marquee free agents.

That’s a lot. That frees up money to go after top players, all while
destroying watson’s value, which ultimate destroys his career.

Getting cap space is like getting other players ...because that freed up money
will be used to do just that.

Good players get cut all the time to simply free up cap space.

People bleed green. America is capitalism.

Seriously?

When has that ever stopped anyone from joining an organization,
because the org is inept, and degraded their own player?

What do you think happened to Kaepernick by the entire league?
Guess what? Players are still playing football.

We saw that with how the Titans treated Steve McNair. Locked him
out of their facility and basically treated him like crap when they no
longer wanted him.

Guess what?

Players are still playing for the titans.

Money rules, and you should know this.

This is all operating on the idea that the Texans now want Watson off the team after spending weeks/months indicating otherwise.

1. The Texans trade Watson, still entering his prime, to any of the many potential suitors for multiple first round draft picks, as well as potentially a starting QB and/or another skill player.

2. The Texans devise a plan to get a gadfly attorney to get three women to file civil lawsuits in hopes of it leading to them cutting Watson, and getting cap space and MAYBE bringing in marquee free agents at some point in the future.

Think. Use your brain.

This is America. You sure have blind faith in people maintaining
some kind of moral standard, especially in football.

If number 2 is actually the situation, it will be cleaned up,
like all scandals are, and the money machine will continue to roll.

I have seen every scandal there is to see in sports, and teams
and leagues are still rolling.

Penn State allowed kids to get molested and anal fucked. That should
have brought on a lifetime ban. Top players are still going to Penn State
and they are still on TV making paper. Parents are still sending their
kids to Penn State. And that’s a platform where athletes are only getting
scholarships as pay.

So you think in the Pros, where billions are made , people are going to
have morals?

Dumbest shit I ever read. Complete lack of critical thinking.

Why would one artificially depreciate an extremely valuable asset you intended to sell?

Why would you come up with such a ridiculous scheme to do so? After all, you could just vaguely imply he is in a gang or any other number of things that won't end up in a court of law or have you paying off people to break the law.

But also back to the first question, WHY ARTIFICIALLY DEPRECIATE AN ASSET BEFORE SELLING IT?

I’m not saying that’s what they are doing. That wasn’t even the argument.
Lol.

The argument was would people still go play for the Texans if they actually did that,
and that free cap space is a huge deal.

So if they WERE, hypothetically speaking, players would still go
play for the Texans. The machine would still roll.

I’m simply saying that such a scandal wouldn’t stop business as usual,
because of the many far bigger scandals that have rocked football.

We were both speaking hypothetically.

I haven’t had the time to do any research on this particular situation and quite frankly don’t have the time to at the moment.

Lol

Not one is criminal.

Civil perjury never gets tried, but it gets tried in criminal cases
if proven.

And that is one of the main reasons why some people go with
civil lawsuits, especially in an attempt to extort money and slander
someone’s name.

Plus lawsuits can go on forever, thus creating tremendous legal fees,
a move to force people to settle.

Also, their must be substantial evidence for a criminal case to go to court.
And the accuser doesn’t have to testify in a Civil Lawsuit.

What perfect timing. Lol

The lawyer made a baseless six figure settlement demand before
pushing with a lawsuit.

And the lawyer is known for his fame and money chasing.

Watson is one of the most stand up athletes and human beings out there.
I would go to bat for him any day.

And not one single criminal charge was implemented, because it’s a money

The allegedly incident happened in 2020, well within the parameters of the
Statute of Limitations.

Where are the criminal charges? There are none. You know, you got to
have evidence for there to be indictments, not just simple allegations,
which lawsuits can be based upon.

And based on Watson’s impeccable record as a human being I stand by
him until PROVEN OTHERWISE.

It could be that Buzbee is a big Texans' fan and he views this a "helping" the organization, even though it really doesn't.

Bad human being stuff of some kind is going down here.

If DW really did any of this stuff and put himself in this bad of a situation now that the women have decided to strike back..boo.

If this is a timed slander campaign put together by anyone because of the trade demands or some other stuff..boo.

I currently assume it is a bit of both both because my faith in folks is low.

And of course, there's the average folks who damn near hope that Deshaun actually did this stuff so that they can see another person get banished from earth or whatever canceling someone means this week.

I'll never understand how young, rich, in-shape, and famous dudes can't seem to find enough consensual partners to throw some d onto regularly. I know dudes who live with their mama in their 30s who get their shots to put it down on folks. Broke dudes. Fat dudes. Not great dudes. I'd much rather hear that pro athletes like DW were paying off the thots of the time period to come through, have fun, and roll out without much fanfare and/or incident.

Sadly, I DO very much understand folks wanting to have excess control over other people. And I get that the Texans are a clownshow and they probably care more about looking like the good guys and keeping the seats paid for than they care about any of these dudes on the team.

straight power and control, PERIOD. Whatever Cosby did, he could have had almost all of those women consensually. Think about all the other pro athletes who've been convicted of sexual assault. For every woman that rejected them, 10,000 would take their place. It is not about options, I mean if it was, professional athletes and entertainers would have a 0% chance of assaulting women.

is fans and the general public who have never been with 100 degrees of separation from these guys, claiming to know FOR CERTAIN that they're a "good person".

outside of a handful of cases, we have no fucking idea what a famous person is like in real life.

stop staning for someone you don't know, it's pathetic at best and openly promoting rape culture at minimum.

I'm aware that lot of people personally identify far too closely with their heroes, but shit, it's 2021. Get some perspective.

You can root for a guy and also not refuse to believe he's capable of something horrible. Both things are possible to coexist.

im surprised to still see posts like these on this forum in the year 2021.

we've seen some absolutely epic L's over the years on this board when people vouch on a personal level for their sports heroes that you'd think there'd be some lessons learned but i guess not.

but if they're all in the same profession it makes sense that they'd know each other or have connections to each other. For the record, I totally get why you're suspicious of allegations made against a prominent Black man. If it was 1 or 2 accusations, i get it. But when there's multiple accusers the odds that it's all made up are slim to none. Plus the flip side to this is rich/famous/powerful people usually get away with shit regardless of their race.

>
>All anonymous

cmon man. Victims of sexual assault that come forward are subject to all kinds of harassment, including violence and death threats. When the accused is a public person you can multiply that by 1,000. Women don't feel comfortable coming forward when they ARE victims, you think that 12 women are gonna make their names public when they're lying? Even if the Texans (lol) promised all the money in the world it's highly unlikely they'd be able to pull off a plot to... disparage him so they can cut him??? Do I have that theory right?

>
>All civil suits

and??? It's often the only way to get any measure of justice in these cases.

>
>Whatever the issue is with the police...this is public
>now...they kind of have to investigate now that the
>allegations have been made...no?
>

No, they don't. They literally don't give a fuck. Maybe they'll make some public statement like "we're looking into this" but it's unlikely that will amount to anything, especially without cooperation from the victims (which they won't get, because why in the fuck would a sexual assault victim trust cops/a legal system that rarely takes this shit seriously?). Odds are the cops they'd talk to would be Texans fans anyway.

There's so many angles to this story that we could discuss...but I know folks don't want to make definitive statements before we even know the whole situation

For example; I'm very interested in the race of the women
These allegations are coming in the midst of a mass shooting at massage parlors targeting asian women

The timeline suggests alladeez assaults happened within the last year

Etc...

But just reading over dude's wiki page
He was personally involved in Perry's governorship
He contributed to Trump...a couple of times
He had a DUI dismissed by what looks like a quid pro quo

^^^ this is the guy who is the advocate for women's rights?

I'm really interested in the genesis of these allegations

...but I guess we're not allowed to talk about it...

Sexual assault allegations should be taken seriously and the victims should be heard

I’m discussing what has been presented to date

But people are too afraid to speak candidly about the topic for fear of being attacked and slandered by trolls like you

There’s plenty of context to discuss...but we can’t

The NFL should be investigating
The PD is on notice
But let’s not talk about it.

Never questioned the women or the allegations...well, we don’t even know who the women are
and their stories are being funneled through the questionable character of Buzbee

Care to discuss?

1. You just can’t generate a criminal case. A prosecutor has to get an indictment
based on evidence that something criminal took place.

2. In a criminal case, a person can be tried for perjury. So if a person lies,
and it is proven, they can go to jail!

3. The alleged victim must take the stand. Kobe’s case didn’t go to trial because
the victim refused to take the stand, so the case was dropped. Her credibility would
have been exposed had she testified, so her lawyers pursued a civil case to
pressure Kobe to settle, and he did.

Putting forth a lawsuit is a very easy action, because it doesn’t require evidence
for the case to go to trial. It can be based on allegations, and most people submit
lawsuits to get the other party to settle, because going to court can be very
expensive. So most parties settle to avoid further expenses and bad publicity.

The fact that not one single accuser is seeking criminal charges, and that there
is no police investigation taking place, means nothing criminal occurred.

I saw the DMs that were exchanged, and none of them prove that anything
criminal happened. With one of the girls, a particular service was agreed upon.
Watson specifically wanted his groin and glutes massaged, which are areas
that are normally massaged on football players. He specifically asks for that
in the DM. Expert physios have already stated that those are not unusual
massages, because football players are explosive runners.

So did she get uncomfortable with that when she got to his place, and he told
her that he wasn’t going to pay her if she didn’t perform the services that
she agreed to?

So she did it anyway, even though she felt uncomfortable?

If that was the case, then that’s not rape,or sexual misconduct. There
is nothing criminal about that.

What we have here are disgruntled employees, who were not physically
forced to render services. Watson simply specified the service that he
wanted , and probably wasn’t going to pay unless the service was rendered.

That was probably his request for the type of massage that he likes and wanted
with each therapist.

One of the therapists stated that she felt forced.
Feeling forced and being forced are too different things.

Based on CURENT EVIDENCE, this is not a case of rape, or sexual misconduct.

Now could this be a disagreement in business services, or what was expected
and agreed upon?

Possibly.

Innocent until proven guilty. And I support Watson until proven otherwise.

68. "More bullshit by Tony Buzbee"
In response to Reply # 0

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31094724/lawyer-says-civil-lawsuits-houston-texans-qb-deshaun-watson-12

“Buzbee said during the news conference that his office has been in contact with police and that he would provide information to them about the women who intend to sue Watson”

Police stated no such contact took place:

“The Houston Police Department said in a statement posted to Twitter later Friday that it was unaware of any contact it had with Buzbee regarding the allegations or the filings of any incident reports. “

He later said he was referring to a detective. Lol

More bullshit:

“We actually had contact with Deshaun Watson's agent/lawyer from Los Angeles, who minimized these allegations, who did not take them seriously," Buzbee said. "We wanted to resolve this matter without a lawsuit, without any publicity. “

“After Buzbee's announcement of the first lawsuit Tuesday, Watson responded on Twitter by saying that he rejected "a baseless six-figure settlement demand" and that this is "about clearing my name, and I look forward to doing that."

He tried to get Watson to agree to a six figure settlement, basically, extort him for money. Watson said no to the demands!

Watson also responded : “I have never treated any woman with anything other than the utmost respect,"

———————————————————————-

So, these women came to him regarding Watson allegedly sexually
assaulting them. They don’t go the police, and he doesn’t go to the police.
But he immediately contacts Watson, and demands a six figure settlement?

This comes off as a swindle job. And I stand behind this man proclaiming
his innocence UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE.

And I don’t expect any other poster, especially white posters, to stand up for
this man’s innocence until proven otherwise.

But that didn’t stop you from saying Deshaun Watson has a problem,
basically saying that he is guilty. You have zero evidence of anything.

You have no proof that he did anything.

So he is a man that is innocence until proven guilty.

You’re dealing with a man’s Name, his life, his track record, his family.

And his track record has been impeccable with no history whatsoever
of abusing women.

That means something, and it stands for something.

You loosely said some bullshit with no proof of anything. I posted
links and information SHOWCASING inconsistencies and lies in
the lawyer’s actions.

Someone has to do proper research. Or you can just continue with
your sensationalized accusation.

in some homo-erotic white supremacists mythology fantasy / fascination no one brings up race the big bad negro and the rapist stereotype.

Yet this country was founded by human trafficking, pedophile, rapist who were literally genocidal land thieves aka Land speculation aka gentrification.

A great number of Black men lynched in US history were usually business owners aka people of means Eurasians were jealous of so they lied on their penis to lunch and castrate them (A majority of the time)

But people are capein because he is a celebrity.

George Washington has monuments, cities, colleges, schools and his image on the national currency.

He was also a rapist, "land speculator", human trafficker.

His complexion is not the same as the person accused in this case.

96. "excerpt from one of the lawsuits (reddit swipe)"
In response to Reply # 0

https://old.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/mar1qu/locker_the_11th_lawsuit_against_deshaun_watson/grtr4ef/

This is an extract from the lawsuit, from a woman who was sexually harassed once but did massage him a second time (as u/ninjazora pointed out after I missed it - she didn't know it was Watson she would be massaging the second time until she entered the room):

"Plaintiff told Watson that his behavior the last time was inappropriate. Plaintiff recalls that Watson apologized and told her something to the effect that he had never been rejected by a woman before.

Plaintiff informed Watson that she was a lesbian, so she was not interested in him and Watson agreed not to be inappropriate again. Plaintiff proceeded to give Watson the massage. Watson told Plaintiff that he only wanted his lower body massaged, so Plaintiff started off massaging the back of Watson’s quads.

Watson insisted that he wanted Plaintiff to “go higher,” closer to his butt cheeks. Plaintiff went higher, but Watson was still not satisfied, and insisted that Plaintiff come even higher Plaintiff was confused and did not understand. Plaintiff assumed that Watson wanted his back massaged, so she proceeded to massage his back.

Watson then grabbed Plaintiff’s hands and placed them on his buttocks and moved them around in a circular motion. Watson asked Plaintiff to use more oil and he then put Plaintiff’s hands inside his anus. Plaintiff was shocked and confused. Watson told Plaintiff “I can tell you are a lesbian because you are so good with your hands.”

Plaintiff became irritated and uncomfortable, but she did not want to get in trouble with her manager. Plaintiff told Watson to lay on his back, and that was when Watson became even more aggressive, and started commenting on Plaintiff’s body. Watson then pulled Plaintiff towards him and told her “I want to cum,” Plaintiff was confused and told Watson that she does not perform those kinds of services.

Watson responded saying that he receives that kind of treatment at the spas that at where he usually gets his massages. Watson said the other therapists make him “cum.” Watson continued harassing Plaintiff and asked her to kiss him and suck on his chest.

Watson asked if Plaintiff was really a lesbian, Plaintiff ignored his advances and told him to stop acting like a pervert. At this point, Plaintiff was embarrassed and humiliated, but she did not want to lose her job. Plaintiff just wanted Watson to leave, but she was scared.

She continued massaging his chest, Watson then exposed himself and told Plaintiff to massage his penis area. Plaintiff declined and covered his penis. Watson asked why Plaintiff did not want to touch his penis. He then asked her to perform oral sex on him and to pretend that he was a woman, since she had never been with a man before.

Watson became even more aggressive and forced Plaintiff’s mouth onto his penis. Watson told her “there is a first time for everything.” Plaintiff was so scared and distraught, she was sweating and nervous. She was alone at the spa and feared scared for her life. Watson then proceeded to wrap his legs around Plaintiff’s neck and told her to kiss him and to spit on his penis.

Plaintiff declined and he released her head. Watson went even further and began masturbating in front of Plaintiff and he ejaculated shortly after. Plaintiff was humiliated and horrified. The NFL is notorious for a culture that fosters sexual harassment and sexual assault."

His lawyer already provided statements on it.

Glad you were able to reach such a monstrous conclusion without
perusing, or based on your own perception.

The cases are based off recent business encounters. This wasn’t a yearly
routine.

But please continue with your judgements

My boy in Houston frequents them joints and he was telling me they was still on deck doing house calls during the lockdown. Hell he even said some still had v their doors or backdoors as he put it open.

And he a regular nygga

not a millionaire professional QB and celebrity

I'm getting Darren Sharper vibes from this

He had access to women who would consensually provide these type of services but he got his rocks off by forcing himself on women who weren't with it

I'm not discounting the allegations but I think any lawyer is going to take alot more interest in a case like this when the accused was recently paid a $27M signing bonus.

Rich lawyers don't get that way suing poor people.

I am skeptical the team is as eager to protect Watson right now but I also wonder just how far they'd be willing to go if Watson wanted to be a Texan for life.

Like suppose the lawyer expects a big pay day... multiple millions in settlement. Would the owner be willing to cough up another $3-$5M to clean up after his star QB?

separately, having people here who suggest that sexual assault charges are frequently made up does more to drive people away.

you can disagree with that I guess.

someone involved with this site was dumb and irresponsible enough to make you a moderator, and while I'm not privy to your specific arrangement, unless your tasks include toxic bullying, abusive behavior towards others, stifling discussion, and actively driving people away from this site then I don't know what value your mod status has brought here.

>separately, having people here who suggest that sexual assault
>charges are frequently made up does more to drive people
>away.

I get that you need some bonkers way of rationalizing your gross treatment of others, but this is a severely warped interpretation of events and how the internet works in general.

obviously you get off on acting this way, and that's really all there is to it.

reveals some serious emotional issues that you may be going through. so maybe ease up on the internet psychologist routine and attempting to discern my emotional state.

this isn't nearly as complicated as you're making it out to be. you've been called out on it countless times over the years and by a variety of people in this very thread. it's been very clearly spelled out for you. you won't read nor accept any of it. and that's fine. there's just not much more to say.

I'm just a person who can read.

I don't think it takes a psychologist to notice you deciding out of the blue to bring up something that's apparently been festering within you for years and describe that as you being "upset"

that's not a medical diagnosis

I really thought that we were beyond the whole "if you admit you're upset the other person wins" thing but maybe y'all don't?

If I've got it correctly, you think this is a game where I win if you're upset?

I don't think that. if you're not upset and actually are happy and secure and really enjoy this whole experience then I'm pretty sure we're both winning.

if you don't enjoy it and it's causing you distress then that should not be the case.

Yeah, he claims one tried to extort him but he's also admitting he had sexual contact with her.

Well once you've copped to sexual contact with one massage therapist, it isn't hard to imagine you sought it with others. The admission gives credibility to the other claims that he would seek sexual contact with a massage therapist.

And since there are sex workers in the massage industry, it isn't hard to imagine that some of these women are hesitant to go the criminal route, because that would lead to alot more attention onto what they do day-to-day. It may not be worth it to go to criminal court to prove intimidation, indecent exposure, etc... but a check from civil court or a settlement would make up for his alleged bad deeds.

And I do think he's going to end up paying.

It just proves that he had CONSENSUAL relations, and that
the accuser wasn’t raped. It proves that more than anything else.

He never denied sexual contact. He denied rape or anything illegal.
And consensual sex or being promiscuous is not against the law.

Also, his behavior or position isn’t that strange, considering massage parlors
evolved out of prostitution being banned in America. Brothels modified into
massage parlors to cloak their true service, which is why there is a strong
relation between the two.

Clearly he went that route for that type of service. That’s quite obvious, considering
the amount of therapists he did business went. My assumption, he probably went
that route to be discreet about it, instead of going the escort service route, and for
that interaction to get exposed.

We don't know it was consensual. That is the difference between his claim and hers.

But they both agree that he had sex with her.

>He never denied sexual contact. He denied rape or anything

It's not against the law but it would be better for him to be able to say he's never had sex with a massage therapist than to say, well, this one time... but only that one time!

Not really sure where you're going with this because IF he's trolling for sex, it's very reasonable to think he was sometimes propositioning the wrong women.

The initial allegations are made
Coverage ensues
Watson’s lawyer responds
<crickets>

The story has been silent for almost a week now
Same ‘tensity

The allegations are approaching 20 in number
That’s a serial sexual predator
<no arrest>

The language used to describe the allegations have consisted of sexual ‘assault’ and ‘harassment’
Forcing someone to perform oral sex is rape

Like I said from the start
The public allegations put the HOU PD on notice
as well as the NFL

...2 weeks later...and the story feels like it’s disappeared

F’n weird.

And in Law, there are rules and stipulations that must be met in order
for one to be charged, tried, judged and convicted.

Law is not based on sentiments, feelings, expectations or perceptions.
So there is no court of public opinion. There is only the court of Law,
and everything that enters must be true and factual beyond a reasonable
doubt.

Your narrative and perception fail. You have already convicted this man in
your mind, and have attached a dark title to his name

You have yet to acknowledge the possibility of slander, scorn, hate, and
manipulation from the accusers. I stated that I stand by Deshaun, and that
he is innocent until proven otherwise.

Why?

That is the LAW.

So bring forth the ALLEGED evidence because a man’s freedom is hanging in
the balance. Where is this gargantuan amount of evidence against Deshaun,
that was said to exist? THE LAW IS WAITING, because someone has been
ACCUSED.

Since the beginning of slavery ,black people have been falsely accused of crimes,
and unfairly judged and convicted. When it comes to people of color, people want
to automatically skip the period of discovery, due process, and all the other
required actions and steps that must be exercised before one is OFFICIALLY
judged.

The L is on you, my brother.

I’ve come to recognize that the Okayplayer platform likes to degrade
and batter the reputation and image of African American men. They are
never afforded the benefit of the doubt, and are immediately demonized.

I’m also starting to realize that the demonization is coming from quite
a few Caucasian posters.

And when an African American man has been vindicated, cleared, or
found not guilty, you don’t hear a peep out of them.

It was settled out of court. The only reason she didn’t pursue a criminal
case, she was too mentally fucked up to testify, and she didn’t want
to bring publicity onto her family. That woman had to enter a mental institution.
There was more than enough evidence to have him locked up.

It’s the same thing with Kobe Bryant.

Those were serious cases of RAPE and neither one was punished. Women
were penetrated in those situations, and there was evidence to support it.

Deshaun Watson’s case is entirely different. These are cases based on his behavior
as a client to multiple massage therapists.

Was his behavior criminal or simply immorally inappropriate?

There is a difference. So far no evidence has been submitted to support any
claims of rape or criminal behavior. The woman stated in the SI that Watson
didn’t touch or rape her, but put her in a very uncomfortable situation.

The only things that have been established are ACCUSATIONS and BELIEFS.

and while I realize there are differences in professional masseurs' and those that offer other services the lines can be blurred depending on how famous you are and how much money you have just like everything else.

I don't know if Deshaun is innocent or guilty as no actual criminal charges have been filed but the timing of all of this is weird on both sides. If he had all this out there after landing his huge contract you would think he would shut up and play football instead demanding a trade a year later. The flip side is why is all this just coming out now after he has demanded a trade from Houston?

And why is nobody talking about Chad Wheeler?

All due respect, that doesn’t make sense.

If he had consensual sex with a massage therapist who was recommended
by a NFL coach, that is not misconduct or inappropriate.

Being promiscuous is not misconduct or inappropriate.

Illegal sex or forced sex is an action of misconduct or
or bring inappropriate.

And we are waiting on proof of that, so the NFL cannot suspend him.
There is no video tape, no recording, nothing, just accusations and denials.
That’s why the NFL can’t move forward.

With Ben there was proof, but the woman didn’t want to pursue a criminal
case, even after being advised to do so by authorities.

20? different massage therapists...20?

Like I said, there is an alleged pattern of behavior

In which a celebrity (athlete) is using his status to facilitate an erotic fantasy/fetish

...with professional massage therapists that are at the bottom of the authority paradigm...

A celebrity athlete as a client is a YUGE co-sign for these women

They are in a compromised position and making sexual advances after being rejected is inappropriate conduct.

+ he pulled his dick out and jacked off in front of these women

I’m going to say that is inappropriate, and I hope any adult would agree.

Not illegal

Inappropriate.

You can count on that.

There is still just too much stuff that has not been verified.

We know he had sex with with one of the girls, because his
lawyer stated the sex was consensual, and that they have text
messages between both parties to confirm it.

Him taking his dick out and masturbating has not been confirmed. It
has been alleged but not confirmed. And the girl in the SI article stated
that he didn’t touch or rape her. That supports him not being
a rapist in that particular case.

There just needs to be some type of clarity on the inappropriate behavior.
We still only have allegations. That’s what I’m saying. Now if there was
some type of admission on his end, that would be one thing. But all we
have are allegations, which showcases a POSSIBLE pattern of behavior.

I hate to be the DA from Law and Order, but that is how I roll. It’s like Kima
in The Wire refusing to identify Weebay, because she could not prove that
he was at the shooting no matter how much a criminal he was.

Why I think he needs help...this should be settled

He should’ve settled the first 2, and required NDAs and no further litigation

you know the NFL loves to punish Black players harsher to show they are “serious” about DM and SA cases.

Also know that the Steepers owner pushed for Ben’s suspension to get him straighten up. If not for our front office he may have received an even lighter punishment

No different than what you see in court between a defense
lawyer and a prosecutor.

There is not one thing sick or sad about it. What is sick or sad
is to not properly try a man, or to disregard both parties..

My stance and actions are in alignment with the court of law.
There must be proof and evidence of a crime beyond a reasonable

18 therapists defend Deshaun Watson, as two more women file lawsuits against him
Tom Schad
USA TODAY

The legal teams representing Deshaun Watson and the women accusing him of sexual misconduct continued their public posturing Tuesday night and early Wednesday, as two more women filed lawsuits against the Houston Texans quarterback.

Watson's team, led by Rusty Hardin, issued a news release with on-the-record statements from 18 women who say they have previously had massage sessions with Watson and he never acted inappropriately.

Meanwhile, Tony Buzbee, who has filed lawsuits on behalf of Watson's accusers, reversed course and indicated that his clients do not intend to file reports with police.

"My clients will go elsewhere to provide our evidence to investigative authorities," Buzbee wrote in part of a lengthy statement on social media. "Stand by."

Deshaun Watson's future in the NFL has become more murkier as allegations of sexual misconduct mount.
Watson, 25, is now facing civil lawsuits in Harris County District Court from a total of 21 unnamed women – including two complaints that became publicly available Wednesday morning. The women have accused Watson of inappropriate conduct or sexual assault during separate massage sessions over the span of more than a year.

A 22nd woman came forward with similar allegations in a Sports Illustrated article this week, but she said she has not filed a lawsuit and is not one of Buzbee's clients.

Watson has not been charged with a crime and broadly denied wrongdoing.

CHRISTINE BRENNAN:With more allegations, comes more uncertainty for Deshaun Watson's future

His attorney, Hardin, pointed to the 18 statements in support of Watson as evidence that "the other side to this story that has been so lacking in the flurry of anonymous complaints filed by opposing counsel." He added that the women in the news release, most of whom are massage therapists, have collectively worked with Watson more than 130 times.

"Deshaun never made me feel uncomfortable or intimidated," massage therapist Masako Jones said in one of the statements. "... I am just completely floored by these lawsuits. The behavior described in them doesn’t sound like him at all."

Their collective defense of Watson came just a few hours after two new lawsuits against him appeared in the court's online docket.

One of the new complaints alleges that Watson groped a massage therapist and coerced her into performing oral sex during separate massage sessions in the Houston area during a six-month span last year. The lawsuit also claims that the woman has since moved out of Texas "to escape the trauma" of her interactions with Watson.

The second new lawsuit alleges the Texans quarterback made "obscene sexual requests" during a massage session in Scottsdale, Arizona on July 7, 2020.

The NFL is investigating the allegations against Watson under the auspices of its personal conduct policy. Legal experts have suggested he could also potentially face criminal charges, given the volume and nature of the civil claims.

Buzbee said in a news conference on March 19 that providing evidence to authorities would be "the next step," and later stated on Instagram that several of his clients would be submitting affidavits and evidence to the Houston Police Department and Harris County District Attorney's Office on March 22.

In posts on social media Tuesday night, however, Buzbee reversed course. He wrote that his clients are not planning to report the incidents to police because he previously called for the resignation of former police chief Art Acevedo, who has since left the department, and because one of Hardin's sons, Thomas, is a police officer.

According to a 2020 police document, Thomas Hardin works in the department's special operations division, which focuses on crowd control efforts for special events such as demonstrations and parades.

"I am not saying in any way that Deshaun Watson’s lawyer, Mr. Hardin, has a son who has a position that would compromise HPD and its investigation," Buzbee wrote. "I support his service, along with all Houston police officers – I think the rank and file know that."

Buzbee also claimed that "we have provided info to other organizations," though he did not specify the nature or recipient of that information.

So in addition to the 21 accusers...let’s add 18 more massage therapists

He went to 40? massage therapists last year...40?

Not 40 sessions

40 different women

I don’t think that statement is helping TBH

Obviously, I’m not a professional athlete...but that feels off...like way off

In a trial all they have to do is ask these 18 supporters if they were present during the accused misconduct

I get that those financially invested want this resolved before the draft

But this just feels like it’s going to keep escalating with the public back and forth

<placeholder> for the defamation suit...he kind of has to at this point...right?

accusers, but you have a problem believing 18 massage therapist,
who have attached names to their statements.

Their identities have been vetted, and this isn’t out of nowhere because
the lawyer stated that they had therapists who supported Watson a week ago.

You’re a hypocrite.

What’s not looking good?

There will be no criminal case, because the lawyer LIED about having
criminal evidence, and he lied about talking to the police. That’s grounds
to have all lawsuits dismissed, plus his demand for settlement even before
going public.

You got 20 anonymous accusers. How do we know all of them exist?
The lawyer will not hand over their identities so they can be fact checked.

Now you got 20 in support of the accused, and they have been vetted!
Their identities and services are known.

Plus the SI article where the woman stated that Watson did not
touch or rape her. The SI article is actually evidence for Watson.

Watson has vetted identities and evidence in his corner.

Whether civil or criminal he can go to court with tons of vetted evidence
and identities.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Buzbee drops the suits in the next few weeks.

The tables have drastically turned in favor of Watson.

Nobody, outside of the involved parties, knows what’s factual yet

Because this is playing out in the public space...we are discussing what has been offered

You think...no way, no how, total setup...

I was very skeptical to start...but I am growing increasingly concerned based on how he’s responded

If he really didn’t do anything...why not immediately counter sue for defamation?

The more that gets added to the story, the worse it gets

What really jumps out at me is the language

The most recent statement said something like...he hasn’t contacted the accusers ‘directly’

...leaves the door open for contact indirectly...

language like he never ‘forced’ a woman to perform sex

The majority of the allegations don’t make that accusation

and again, he’s admitted to having sex with a masseuse

I think your biggest obstacle is understanding the difference between civil liability and criminal

He shoulda hired Michael Cohen.

Considering his lawyer has represented Wade Boggs, Adrian Peterson,
and Roger Clemons, etc. And he won those cases, I’m sure the lawyer knows
what he is doing. So we can put that to rest.

He is a very meticulous, deliberate lawyer. The best in the business.
He makes no unnecessary moves. He plays chess while others play
checkers. Read his history. He doesn’t panic.

So you saying Watson is getting bad advice and should get another
lawyer makes zero sense, when you don’t even understand the tactic
or have experience.

Like I said, now that the tables have turned, and the defense has gained
momentum, I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of those lawsuits get pulled
back...

Whole different ball game now compared to what was on the table a week ago.

Every class of wealth is different.

Working in Wall Street, and seeing how people in the Hamptons lived,
or rich people in general, wealth provides luxuries that may appear to
be abnormal or unusual to the average person.

Getting 40 massages within a year or even within 2 months is not
strange for an athlete, dancer, or anyone who put his body through
a lot of movement and stress.

A lot of people can’t afford a massage therapist, so they use noodles
and rollers to massage their bodies daily.

Getting 40 different women isn’t strange at all either. Some
people like variety, and if you got the money to do so, then
it’s going to happen.

These dudes got car collections that look like a car lot, and they rent
different exotic cars, you think that mentality isn’t go to crossover to
other forms of service?

Tiger Woods was cheating on his wife with a dozen different escorts.

The concept of luxury is different with each class of wealth

and this dude is masseuse shopping on IG

C’mon

Imagine if Epstein or Gaetz tried to defend themselves against sex trafficking and statutory rape charges by saying

This ain’t that, and it isn’t even in the same ballpark as having sex with minors
or going after minors. Glad you’re not a prominent figure in law, because your
inability to differentiate circumstantial evidence vs conclusive evidence is
glaring.

Circumstantial Evidence: having seen 40 massage therapists ...
It does not prove that misconduct or inappropriate behavior occurred.

Conclusive Evidence: DM as proof of having consensual sex with
a massage therapist....massage therapists supporting Watson’s
argument, and providing their identities and dates of service.

As far as the facial features of his attorney, that’s just flat out infantile and
and senseless. That has nothing to do with his ability as a lawyer.
That’s where we at now? We are talking about someone’s look?

Yet and still, Buzbee has already been caught being dishonest and has
contradicted his actions several times.

As far as contacting people on Instagram, WELCOME TO THE NEW AGE.
That’s how the current generation is communicating for dating, modeling, music
entertainment, and all other types of services.

Come with something legitimate or beat it. Your personal opinion is simply
just that..your personal opinion.

are called witnesses, individuals who have witnessed Deshaun’s behavior while
giving massage services.

They have provided their names. They are registered and have licenses.

We don’t even know who the accusers are, or where they work. Are they licensed?
Do they even exist? Not one has spoken out. Not one has given an interview.

We knew the names of Bill Cosby’s accusers, and they had different lawyers.

20 accusers all with the same lawyer, so every accuser just goes to the
same lawyer?

You seem to find zero holes in that or refuse to acknowledge it. But the
18 VERIFIED witnesses are bullshit?

Keep chasing. Come with something legitimate which you have failed
to do. When these cases get pulled back, what will be your next perception?

Now we will learn the identity of at least one of the accusers,
and a real investigation will move forward.

“Watson's attorney, Rusty Hardin, said in a statement Friday evening that his client welcomed the investigation, calling it a "long overdue development."

"Now we will learn the identity of at least one accuser," Hardin said. "We will fully cooperate with the Houston Police Department."

Now we will get down to some official stuff ,and do away with the social
media mudslinging.

Again, the language used is interesting

We don’t even know the nature of the criminal complaint

...and the immediate response from council is...

I can’t wait to find out the plaintiff’s identity!

They’ve conceded so much already with these public statements

Watson’s team has confirmed; he masseuse shops, on IG, and had sex with a masseuse

...can and will be used against you in the court of law...

They’ve already undermined defenses like; my client doesn’t use private masseuses, doesn’t have sex with masseuses, doesn’t DM masseuses on IG...

This latest statement actually bolsters Buzbee’s concern about the identity of his clients being revealed

Which is interesting...when would a suspect learn the identity of their accuser?

I’m assuming a criminal charge has to be filed...?

I doubt LEO reveal the identity of victims/plaintiffs if the complaint doesn’t meet criminal criteria...?

Makes me think they know a charge is coming and they know what it’s for

...so let’s focus on the identity of the plaintiff...

Smear campaign on deck.

Why would Hardin make any public statements?

I have no comment on pending litigation. My client is innocent of the allegations and we look forward to our day in court to clear his name...

Instead, Hardin has made these admissions that actually put his client in...just the few admissions I listed are favorable for the civil suits

I’m assuming that was Buzbee’s motive

To raise public awareness of the allegations, use the media to raise the profile and put pressure on LEOs to move this to a criminal proceeding

A criminal charge helps legitimize the civil claims

Hardin has put his client in a position where a settlement would be a gift

Watson is now going to be lucky to not face criminal charges in addition to 20+ civil suits

Buzbee is winning the troll war.

but the criminal complaint may also work in Hardin’s favor because now they will het a name and a chance to dig into the person’s past.

I’m curious on who submitted it and if they are connected to Buzbee because it sure sounds like Buzbee doesn’t want the police involved yet.

Not really trippin over Hardin and his list of people defending Deshaun. I dont think a defense of saying nothing or saying “I don’t get a lot of massages” would work given his digital receipts.

also remember as bad as Antonio Brown was and his suspension.. he still played in a SB and caught a TD... and I think he still has a trial set for December 2021.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out regarding suspensions and court date for Deshaun. Especially since Deshaun didn’t plan on playing for the Texans this year and threatened to hold out

I read a story that, initially, some were putting blame on a female captain

Apparently, Egypt had promoted a woman to be the youngest captain and first female captain

When fake news stories put blame on her...she was able to counter with the fact that she was on a ship 200 miles away

I guess what strikes me as odd IRT Hardin's public responses

...it feels like he's already conceded any defense that Watson couldn't have possibly been involved in the alleged sexual misconduct...

The defense's statements already put him in the situations where the alleged conduct could happen

Like you said, digital receipts

I'm assuming Hardin has reviewed the behavior as constructed through a digital timeline recreation of Watson's interactions with plaintiffs...and decided, as you suggest, refuting the possibility is senseless

I just think that's YUGE admission from the defense before ever stepping foot in a court room

I did also think about AB, not so much his alleged sexual misconduct, but the cryo therapy he got on his feet

I remember he missed the start of the season with OAK because he didn't listen to the cryo therapists and went in without shoes...or some nonsense like that

I'm wondering if NFL teams have stipulations in contracts about getting medical interventions from sources not affiliated with the team, and/or not recommended

...could they void Watson's contract because he's into masseuse kink...

In response to Reply # 223

I dont really see the harm because it wouldnt make sense to act like he doesn’t. That would make it look worse IMO.

I dont think Hardin is trying to establish that he is using massages for consensual sex by admitting he gets a lot of massages.

if I like hot yoga and go to a ton of different classes and had consensual sex with one instructor I dont see how admitting I go to a lot of hot yoga classes makes it easy for the defense.

Hardin is admitting his client gets massages... a whole lot of them, but he doesn’t act inappropriately. IMO its better to admit it then let someone else pull the receipts.

as far as pay. Yes, I wonder if they can go after Deshauns money now? IMO that would work best for the Texans and also fuel the conspiracy that they are in on it be ause it hurts his value AND they save a ton of money

What would have worked best for the Texans would have been to trade him when first demanded it. They would have gotten draft picks and players and the whole scandal, if it would still come out, would have been some other team's problem.

This isn't some conspiracy on the Texans part to get him off the team.

fuck ALL of 'em.

this is some really sloppy and stupid shit.

off break, if prostitution was legalized, *maybe* this whole thing wouldn't be a thing?

what is dumb... you are a high profile ass dude. a messed up encounter with you is gonna stick in people's memories, unlike a messed up encounter with a random ass dude.

if his deal is wanting all of his endings to be happy, he needs to have been damn sure that everyone he was procuring services from was 'that kind' of masseuse. seems (from some of the statements) that he did not, and some of the folks he procured were not for the rub and tug.

if you hiring random jawns off of DMs it's really not far-fetched to think the he got ahold of a couple of real (non-happy ending type) therapeutic massage therapists who clutched pearls at the sight of erections and precum and expectations for upgrades.

being as charitable as possible (assuming he didn't force anyone), with these numbers, you could easily see how he could accumulate several non-sexual masseuses whose experiences would have at least bordered on harassment.

but if he doing numbers (of encounters) like that, reckless as that, he's bound to have some 1 star customer ratings.

if he was the perfect, non exposing himself or dripping pre-ejaculate gentlemen in all of those encounters with an assortment of thots and therapists, he has put himself in a helluva situation. in a post-metoo world that's dumb af.

right the whole time I'm like doesn't he have an agent, an advisor, and older teammate, a coach, an uncle, a big brother, somebody to be like "nah bruh, this ain't the move". I feel like another downside of having so much money is that you insulate yourself with "yes" people and everybody is scared to tell you when you're fucking up.

Sexual assault/rape is about the power...offenders get off on that dynamic

I agree, sex work should be legal

But that’s not what sexual assault/rape is about.

and this is why I think a civil suit sticks based on the information released so far

“if he was the perfect, non exposing himself or dripping pre-ejaculate gentlemen in all of those encounters with an assortment of thots and therapists, he has put himself in a helluva situation. in a post-metoo world that's dumb af.”

Civil = more likely than
