60. "Skipped SF V. But since I got it and the full IV package through PS+" In response to In response to 0 Mon Jun-05-23 02:53 AM by Nodima
I bought the $85 package here.
Playing World Tour mainly because I'm really rusty...like to the point I've unlocked Ken as a mentor and am struggling to reliably bust out HIS moves...and it's a slow burn, but they definitely managed to wedge character progression into a Street Fighter game. It doesn't live up to the potential Yakuza vibes of the previews, but it is fairly silly. Edit: and depending on how deep you're into the series, it has plenty of fun references the deeper you go. They even seem to call out the mainstream fans like me that pretty much only play II and IV sometimes...one very minor side character specifically tells you to Google them, lol.
Also, I'm starting to see hints of some of the gameplay charm of Tekken 3's old story mode. The first time I had to take the train across town, just after learning L1 and R1 added different effects to my attacks, was a real fun time.
I really don't remember special attacks being this finnicky on a regular Dualshock in SFIV though. I've also used Chun-Li and the Roman gal and I feel like any special I pull out is mostly luck. I wish Sakura were back, she was my favorite back when I still had friends in town who'd come over to do couch marathons. It'll be a while before I dig into the actual characters I think, but it seems like Manon might be sort of what I'm looking for in this one?
