got roasted for not winning a 'chip (let alone getting to the conf. finals).

If CP3 wants to be mentioned in the same company as the Greats - deal with it.

If not, he can always be another nice player, like Melo.

He gets roasted.

If Steph didn't win. He'd get roasted.

Same happens with Rose, Russ, Durant, Melo, and any other vet superstar.

Chris Paul should've played better than what he did, because it wasn't good enough.

You're arguing supporting cast against a team that starts Jason Terry and Josh Smith, and plays 40 yr old Prigioni coming off the bench.

AND anybody would say Doc is a much better coach than McHale.

Sooooooo?

Nobody cares about them excuses.

He played, sucked, quit on the court, and got booted off the team.

Paul played outstanding basketball.

The Rockets role players outplayed LA's badly, especially today. Not even close.

Star players play well - don't be dumb and blame them for their team losing.

Star players play poorly - blame away.

Rondo was an incredibly obvious example of the second one this year, but you weirdly tried to slither out of it by claiming he "didn't play" so I had to address that.

When we are clearly talking about CP3.

Then, what else do you want?

You want me to talk about Melo or Dion Waiters or Derrick Coleman too?

CP3 hasn't been out of the 2nd round. No excuses. Nobody want's to hear your sensitive ass crying.

I can understand you want to leverage CP3 into your "older supposed superstars who are not Lebron and don't have all the teammates they need to compete with Lebron" team.

But I don't give a fuck. James won. Dwight won. They have just as much if not less than the Clipps.

I don't care about the Clippers, Rockets, CP3, Wake Forest, Rondo, etc. No dog in this fight.

I'm just trying to talk objectively about happened in the game without cats agenda-ing themselves stupid.

Paul played great basketball. The difference was in the performance of the role players. I realize that's not as much fun to talk about, but that's what happened.

CP3 played an okay game. It was a great game for the regular season. Not a game 7 play the best game of your life to get to where you've never been game.

That was the long version.

But the short version is, CPPlea still ain't got out of the 2nd round.

That was the difference. In terms of those versatile 6'5-6'9 types, the Clips have nothing. Rockets role players won them this series by badly outplaying their Clipper counterparts.

Anyone who paid attention knew that.

Huge hole. Huge hole at SF too. Not one good swingman type player on the roster.

That's why they're home in round 1-2 every year.

Paul was brilliant. Forgot the circumstances around them beating the champs already?

Too many holes. It will catch up at some point every time. On a team constructed like that the two stars have to be brilliant and the role players have to come through.

Paul was great. Blake was very good. The role players sucked.

point lead in gm 6 on a team they had already beaten by WIDE MARGINS and not one person was complaining abt Paul not having a bench or no small forward prior to that gm 6, it appeared as if they were had enough to win it all (they got solid production from Awful Rivers for heaven's sake lol)..in fact, after they beat the Spurs, ppl had began saying they looked like the best team in playoffs as we saw how they were dismantling the Rockets

They CHOKED...and Paul will take a hit for that, fair or not

weaknesses the Clips had no one felt that they would be a hindrance for them winning the title...especially after they beat the defending champs

Vegas had them as the odds on favorite to win the championship after they beat the Spurs and because of how they were looking against the Rockets in the first 4 gms of that series...

Common sense would tell you that when Matt Barnes is your only 6'7 swinngman type player on your roster, you've got a big hole.

>record. Cry.

I mighta welled up a little bit but I did hold off from shedding a full-fledged tear.

It is kinda amazing to realize that Poison Pillsbury actually has a soldier lost in the jungle still believing he's at war long after their leader surrendered (like that Japanese Army dude who fought WWII until '72) but like the voters on any of this decade's All-NBA teams, we don't really spend much time thinking about DWont anymore.

or "elite" convo in the last 10 years has led their team to a conference final EXCEPT for Chris Paul but because he has pretty stats he's been considered the best point guard in the NBA to majority of that time. It's not just Deron, you got Tony, Nash, Rondo, Rose, Westbrook, Conley, and now Curry and Kyrie.

And the "HELP" PLEA COP doesn't fly, Chris Paul has played with as much talent as anybody in New Orleans and now in LA.

he's the best this

he's the greatest that

blah blah blah

on the same board with a Bron plea cop post

FOH!

he's a really good PG that never wins in the playoffs

those 2 things aren't mutually exclusive

folks can't WAIT to fry Bron

who keeps winning

yet is the focus of so much ire

while CP3 never wins shit

but is coddled like a toddler

I seriously don't get it

he's not even a top 5 PG anymore

and his best days may be behind him.

I'd allow arguments for #4

but IMO, PGs like 'Rie, Dame and Johnny aren't as far as off

as they would be if he actually was a top 10 all-time PG

seriously

MFers been in the league half as long

and done just as much, if not more

when does that count?

He's amazing. Nothing can ever take away Game 7 Spurs, which should dead any stupid clutch narrative. However, he's just not quite as good, nor ever been, as his regular season numbers and his most ardent supporters imply. He's fantastic, he's so much fun to watch, and he's a top 10 PG all time. However, he's a little bit of a compiler and not in the Durant tier, let alone Lebron.

This postseason was him in a nutshell. It's not his fault that they didn't advance--that's on Doc the GM who completely fucked up their bench. However, he didn't do anything to stop the collapse either. He's the leader of a team that didn't take Game 5 seriously. He was on the floor and just whatever during that run in Game 6.

Simmons once said that the Kobe/Jordan question was settled when the Celtics came back from 30 down in the Finals, because Jordan would have never, ever, ever let that happen. That's where I'm at with CPPlea. He's amazing...but if he were that amazing, Game 6 would have never happened.

no, he's not

he's a top 10 PG in the NBA, today.

"It's not his fault that they didn't advance"

yes, it is

no reason he can't feast w/a 37Y.O. Jason Terry and 38Y.O. Prigioni guarding him

no excuses

I'm wondering what that series looks like if Bev played.

deandre not even an offensive factor, period... so he has 3 players to rely on to make shots...one of which jus aint that good... and reddick cant get his own shot...so based on what hes working ith and he still putting up numbers..i'd say he's top 5 easy... he also cant guard 5 positions..

Numbers lie, but they don't lie that much. There's simply no way these guys are as good as CP3. The only one you can kind of even make a statistical argument for is Nash, but CPPlea is an all world defender and Nash is a sieve who quit on the Lakers. <--just threw that last part in for fun and because it's true.

>Stockton
>Gary Payton
>Jason Kidd
>Boby Cousy

This is his real peer group. Me personally, I'd take him over every guy in this group except Prime Payton, and Gary Payton's prime was much shorter than you remember.

So, yeah, much as it surprises me, I've got him as the fourth best, behind Magic, Oscar, and Zeke. Zeke is actually fascinating, because CP3's numbers destroy Zeke's and good Lord doesn't that destroy all of my arguments above? Except I watched Zeke willingly not dominate the ball. It's one thing to have the ball in your hands and make the right passes. It's entirely another to be ok without touching the ball because it's best for the team, and Zeke did that better than anyone I've ever seen.

The guys in the other tiers, they still dominated the ball, and their numbers are so far below what Paul does playing the same way that there's simply no way to argue they had a comparable effect.

You wanna know what CPPlea's maruee game is? Game 7 of a 1st round series against the Spurs.

You wanna know what Walt's is?

Game 7 in the NBA Finals vs Wilt, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor.

And he played better.

It's not even close.

CPPlea is on the KJ tier.

I really don't want to break down name by name.

Nate? Champ. Led the league in scoring and passing. He doesn't lose that Game 7 to the Rockets

Nash? 2 time MVP. Should he have won? Nope. But 2 time "Shouldn't have won MVP but won MVP" is better than never time out of the 2nd round man. He doesn't lose that Game 7 to the Rockets

Jason Kidd led the Nets to the Finals. TWICE. And won a title. Best International pg of all time too. He doesn't lose that Game 7 to the Rockets.

Gary Payton and Zeke's fav pg? John STockton. That's good enough for me. John doesn't lose that Game 7 to the Rockets.

either

I think Utah would be just as successful w/Paul in place of Stockton

Stockton has the edge as a passer/playmaker...but barely

Other than that, I'd give Paul the advantage over him in the scoring and defensive category

And Nash WAS NOT better than CP3...at all

Also, I'm still not sure if Jerry West wasn't a PG - more like a tweener ...because I thought Gail Goodrich was the shooting guard on that Laker team

But if we consider West a PG then the list is as follows:

>Magic
>Isaiah
>Stockton
>Gary Payton
>Walt Frazier
>Jason Kidd
>Nate Archibald
>Jerry West?
>Oscar Robertson
>CP3

Redick as your 3rd option on offense is pretty bad. Jordan and Barnes have almost no offensive game aside from finishing at the hoop.

well thoughtout that whole series

Even thought Harden put up 31 pts yesterday he didn't shoot well at all w/Reddick mostly defending him (7-20) and got most of his pts from the line

But having said that, I never thought Reddick could be a starter on a championship team but he wasn't the problem nevertheless

The last ball dominant pg who won a title was Isiah, which shows how special he is.

The difference with Curry is that he doesn't have to always play on the ball to be effective. He is great on it but you can move him off ball and he's also extremely effective due to his jump-shot and ability to finish in the paint.
