>>let's just remove the fact of chicago having the best HS >>league and highest concentration of talent in the nation, >and >>the fact that jabari outplayed the #1 HS junior in jahlil >>okafor on his way to winning that 4th state title, > >Well, Jabari was the #1 senior. He should outplay the >#1 junior.
see, that's not necessarily true, dogg. there's a soph-junior gap, but there's no real junior-senior gap. lebron destroyed lenny cooke, OJ mayo was killing guards two classes ahead...happens all the time...right now, jahlil would prolly be ranked in the top 5 of the 2013 class.
>I'm just saying that I don't want to hear about high >school titles as a real credential.
depends on the league. that what i was tryna explain. i kid from alaska gotta ball in aau to make a name. a kid from chicago can just play league games.
>McD is a joke, but I value it because I get to see >several blue chippers on the court at one time. I'll take >that over a random high school game. A good game in it don't >mean a dude is Lebron. A bad game in it don't mean a dude is a >bum. Its a random all-star game. But now I know, for example, >that Aaron Gordon is not a real swingman. I like the way >Randle moved, liked his body control, etc. I like the twins. >I am more comfortable about that opinion now that I've seen >how they are size-wise and how they move.
understood. but that's not basketball. they can test for this kinda stuff. i wanna know what happens when you're forced left or right, how well you move without the ball, how well you read the floor coming off a pick, etc....you can determine any of that in games like this. it's just run and jump.
>State championships are great, but they mean little. Hell, >those national tournaments (which have no bearing on state >tourneys) are better measures than either the McD game or >the state championship tourneys.
depends on the state title. in texas, cali and illinois...they are big-time.
>the fact is >>in 2013 the mcD game has fallen pretty far down the list of >>events that determine a prospects standing in the eyes of >>scouts and coaches and GMs. you crazy if you think his 4 >years >>of chicago city league ball is rendered moot and people with >>money on the line gonna go by the mcD game in determining >>jabari's ceiling. > > >Nah. Literally everyone loves Jabari Parker. Like, everyone. > >You gonna need to do better to drum up a cause here, because >everyone likes him. They just like Wiggins a bit better.
not quite sure what your point is here. we know this.
> >>mcD PRACTICES and DRILLS mean more than the games, dude. the >>actual game pretty much turns into a mess every year. and it >>did again this year. > > >Yep, sure did. > > >>like i said...you wanna see jabari v. wiggins? watch hoops >>summit in a couple weeks. i bet you centers won't be >shooting >>lazy jumpers and guards won't be gunning. > >I appreciate the recommendation. Will definitely be checking >for it. > >Doesn't mean I can't watch the McD game and say that I liked >what I saw from a few players, though.
oh, that's fine. my only point in responding was to take issue with the idea that mcD holds more weight than the chi city league. it don't. there are some chi city league kids who didn't make the mcD game that are better than kids who did.
>I mean, I'm a Carmelo Anthony guy. Whether Jabari's game is >more >like Pierce's or not, he's in that mold of versatile >inside-out >frontcourt scorer.
agreed
