saw this and it's been a while ...
i come from an old, irish Catholic tradition, and this is one of the classic pearls of wisdom that has been passed down to me. it's about moving on from past relationships (romantic, friendship, professional, etc.)... it goes like this:
"when Jesus sent his disciples out into the world, he told them to spread the Gospel to all. But he told the disciples that if they came to a town that didn't accept them, that they were to pass through the town, and shake the dust of the town from their sandals and continue on." Sometimes, past relationships are the dust on your sandals, and you just gotta shake them off and keep on moving.

After a night out, my boss recently told me
"If you can't run with the big dogs lay on the porch with the pups."
I know it just means if you can't hang get the fuck out the way, but it really got me thinking, and also made me realize that once upon a time we were all pups. Sometimes you gotta recognize your limitations and keep yourself from biting off more than you can chew- with a family, a promotion, material possessions, whatever -cause if you're not ready for it, it'll kick your ass.
Just like waking up drunk on a work day.
