I'm actually wondering more who is gonna buy the album... Seems like most everyone here is pretty hyped on Kendrick and this album, so who is actually gonna buy it?? I know to many (not all) on this board, purchasing music in 2012 is some sort of a crazy foreign idea, but for an artist like Kendrick, I think people should support...

I went to his first solo show in the bay (early 2011) and was expecting mostly adults... My ignorant ass was thinking, "Kids aint fuckin with Kendrick... They're not trying to hear what he's rapping about..." This was an 18 and up show and the bar was bare... Kids packed the spot and they knew every lyric to every song he performed from Overly Dedicated... And he had complete control over the crowd... It was pretty crazy to see...
I actually can see him doing better than J Cole numbers... Maybe not though... Obviously, I don't know what the kids are like and don't like... But I think Kendrick's appeal to an older audience is whats gonna help him sell more...

i would assume that at one point, it was DEFINITELY intended to be on the album, since it was an unplanned leak, and he said that it was an album cut when it leaked.....

other than pharell, just, and t minus, ALL of the producers have been on previous TDE albums or are close to the TDE crew one way or another. sounwave produced ADHD. Terrace produced ab soul outro. sure hit boy is big now but he's still from the same scene and has been working with people like Dom K and Overdoz. THC is the Overdoz in-house and Kendrick was on their album. Like from Pac Div got a beat on here.
I seen people complain "ali didnt do any beats" when ALI NEVER DID BEATS. HES THE ENGINEER. LOL
yeah Tae Beats & Willie B aint on here but to say interscope made him get beats from producers who are arguably even lesser known? is crazy.

The first thing that was glaringly obvious to me looking over that list was how little the Digi Phonics have to do with it. They are IMO as integral to the Black Hippy 'movement' as the MCs. Everything else you've said is likely accurate but still in response to that.
They are to Kendrick & co. What 40 is to Drake. This may very well be good but it won't beat the three albums that preceded it. Bank on it.

Dre/Interscope has helped Kendrick get radio play and a much bigger buzz... But everything I've read or heard (in interviews) from Kendrick is that TDE is control of the project and the direction of it... Dre not having any beats and just helping with the mixing is further proof of that...
I got faith in Kendrick's beat selections and, more so, I have faith in Kendrick's ability to make great songs out of the beats he chooses... I haven't listened to the snippets, but most everyone commented that the beats were great... That opinion shouldn't change due to the name of the producer...

I rarely buy music but I think his shit deserves my money. I went to his concert in Charlotte and I also thought it would be an older crowd.. shit was packed with youngin's.

The only reason Kendrick pushed his shit back was because Swimming Pools sample had to clear... Had Swimming Pools not been a single, I bet that shit would've been given away instead of Westside Right On Time and the album would've been out on October 2nd...

obviously underground acts don't get a ton of attention, but when you have an artist like Kendrick who has a much larger following and at the same time shares POS's fan base, POS's album gets buried... So of course it matters when the album is released...
I'm a POS fan and kinda rely on OKP and blogs (while I don't have a twitter and FB right now) to get music news... I either haven't noticed or read anything on POS's new album... Didn't even know he had a new album... I too will check for it though, when I'm tired of Kendrick's album...

Drake gets a bad wrap for targeting a certain crowd at times but anybody who's given him an unbiased listen can't act like he's trash. A feature can only help the song/album, he ain't the kind of dude to stink a track up completely.

Some stand out songs on here ("Good Kid", "M.A.A.D. City", "Sing About Me, I'm Dying Of Thirst") and lot of songs that I know will take a bit to sink it. The production is cohesive and a evolution of his last. The rhyming is very on point and wont be surprised if he ends up on tons of albums next year.
