if you hear something different that's on you. But what the printed lyrics say is not what is heard on the record..even more so when it's slowed down...
and printed sleeve lyrics and what is actually said on record have been out of sync for years....and I'm sure it happened even more so in rap music because of the importance of rhyming and the desire by many artists to have their words appreciated not only as prose, but to have a level of grammatical correctness. There are many examples of which I can post up later...
but either way.... whether its played at regular speed or slowed down, I hear Chuck D say He never meant shit to me, yes you straight out racists THAT sucker was simple and plain..
just the fact THAT is coming before sucker makes it clear and obvious that the person he is directing the comment of RACIST to is seperate from Elvis...Elvis is referred to as THAT SUCKER.... not YOU sucker....or Elvis is A sucker... he's THAT sucker...and he's saying it to YOU...
just from from a grammatical consistency ...AND what is heard on the actual record...I stand by what I'm saying even moreso....
