Promo I'm not sure if you follow r/muppetiers but they've pretty much laid our summer out. They've built up a solid network of vetted ITKs and have been very reliable over the last 12-18 months.

Sancho
Grealish and/or Donny Van De Beek (apparently getting both depends on finalizing Sanchez sale)
Center Back
Pogba signs a new contract (they're going to act like this is a new signing)

6-10 players out
Smalling Sanchez Rojo Jones Lingard Dalot most likely. Could be more but thats who they want to get rid of

One thing I don’t quite agree with on how we operate is if we have a touted youth prospect we’ll forgo a readymade signing to give them a shot.

Whereas other clubs would just sign the player and if the youth prospect is good enough he’ll persevere. It worked with Greenwood but ultimately he’ll be up against Martial for gametime. Didn’t work with Gomes or Chong. If Garner is as good as they say, and they hype him like Greenwood, then McT might get passed at the beginning of the 2021/22 season.

But next year they’re trying to get Tuanzebe in line as our partner for Maguire. And god the 3 or 4 games he’s actually played have been everything you want from a defender. Fast as hell, smart, strong and good with his feet. But he’s just ALWAYS hurt

VDB would be more competition/rotation for Pogba. He’s a different sort of player but with how OGS has been using Pogba since the restart I think he would fit that role better and maybe eliminate the need for a Matic type altogether as you could push Pogba forward and they can rotate both roles during the course of a match
Grealish would be more comp/rotation for Rashford and Bruno as he can play both roles,

in your 4231 he would fit better in Bruno's spot than in Matic's

but he can defend, and if he and Pogba could come to some sort of agreement of shared responsibility it could definitely work

have Keita back healthy for a full season, Minamino with more time to settle, plus the young kids developing.

I would have gone after one of the big Bundesliga names but what do I know.

That’s too short of a window! 6 weeks is too short as is, 4 weeks for us is insane.

Just go with u23 only.

I have a feeling next season is when we’ll really see the wear and tear impact of the compressed calendar . The deepest teams will really pull away

Edit: but we at least don’t have Europe still going on, which has some positives to it.

As far as the rest? https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/new-premier-league-kits-2020-21-next-season-home-away-how-to-buy

Really like the green accents on the Liverpool home kit. Spurs looking like NFL Superpro at the Lane. Southampton's third shirt is GORGEOUS. City's is appropriate for following this season - it looks like the bottom of a 'Pool (EYOOOOOOOOO)

on each other through the media over the Sancho deal

Ultimately Woodward has boxed himself into a corner though with his track record. Just give Dortmund the 120m they want. Hell thats a steal to get the country’s biggest talent.
The whole world knows we have it comfortably no matter how much we try to whine about economic uncertainty in these times.

He must’ve forgot January when United fans ran up on his house when it looked like we were trying to cheap out of buying Bruno. They’ll do it again if we drag ass on Sancho. He’s playing with fire here. They hyped this up way too long through their media mouthpieces to turn back now

I’m not mad at all. I don’t really hate Arsenal like that. I love their fan base, and would probably be a fan if they didn’t wear the color red. I’m more of a Spurs and Liverpool hater.

Allegedly he was supposed to re-sign for 1 more year, but with Pedro gone and Hazard left last year, Its possible that Willian wasn’t happy being there any longer.

I wonder if the Fa Cup had anything to do with it. He didn’t get the start, and maybe Luiz lured him over. The Brasilian connection at the club was tight.

Willian is going to be looked at as a traitor to some fans just like Luiz...

But hey Hudson Odi gets to start baby!

So Long Legend Willian...enjoy him, Arsenal!

this willian to arsenal deal has been rumored all year. or at least it has been since ziyech signed.

Looks like Frank favors a 4-3-3. It will probably be Werner up top with Puli and Ziyech on the wings, Mount and Werner in the midfield and Kante as the DM. With Kante's recent injury issues they're going to need to find someone capable for filling the DM role in his absence because right now they have no one. Declan Rice makes sense since they can slot him in at CB as well.

Shit is kind all over the place with who we are going after, etc. I have to wait until the dust settles to assess next year's squad.

I tell you one thing I miss the hell out of Michael Emenalo. With him, we always got what we needed, always.

Now, I don't know. Yeah, we're acquiring good young talent, but where are the big veteran signings?

The major signings for our past two premier titles were strong strong veterans. Kante, fabregas, Costa, willian, pedro, Alonso,Matic etc.

we're going to be a team full of 21 year olds.....and that isn't going to spell titles any time soon....at least 2-3 years. Will the fans and critics be patient when we don't win shit next year?

We shall see.

Just rumors. A deal was on the table from Chelsea, but he wanted multiple years and he wanted to stay in london.

Most thought he was going to re-up for one more year.

A 3 year deal for a 32 year old? That is a holy shit moment

Pretty sure Arsenal will get 1 good year, maybe 2 out of this. That 3rd year is dicey, frankly foolish IMO.

Yeah. However, he keeps himself in great shape. usually, brasilians are broken down by fucking 28 years old.

Luiz and Willian, also close friends, are not big party brasilians...and keep their bodies well conditioned.

Hell, that's probably the main reason they gave him the 3 years because of his stamina and conditioning.

Hazard on the other hand, is starting to stuff his focking face...lol...However, he is a legend, maybe he is like fock it at this point.

By Kia and Raul, and avengers ownership doesn’t care

That said, our scouting network has not been that impressive, and was probably overly bloated

"The headline here is that these layoffs will save Arsenal, and Kroenke, no more than $3 million. They just netted $4.7M for winning the FA Cup, and guaranteed themselves tens of millions of dollars by qualifying for the Europa League. It is also important to note that Kroenke and his wife Ann Walton Kroenke, the Walmart heiress, are worth $8.3 billion. That $3M they save is exactly .03% of their worth. "

Invested 1 billion dollars into Chelsea, and didn’t make a personal profit until 2017. He took over the club at the beginning of the millennium.

apparently he's been thinking about it for a while and Sarri's ousting was the catalyst. Kinda weird still considering the good season he had and with Euro 21 coming up, though he may think, not unreasonably, that Deschamps will continue to have confidence in him no matter where he plays

Alos Lacazette to Atletico is once again being discussed (was already a thing before he went to England); I'd love it if he ended up there. It'd be a huge adjustment mentality-wise from the wafty morale at Arsenal, but with his off-the-ball work I think Simeone could use him to deathly effect. And Diego Costa isn't getting any younger

With 12 goals. Haven’t even come close to that at MU.

Go look at Mhkytarian stats pre MU.
And Kagawa? Flopped.

Well, if their stats immediately take a nosedive at MU, come on fam.

Juve Pogba was way better than MU Pogba. Now pOgba did have that one season of what 9 goals and 13 assists. I’m not saying he is a failure, but the activity isn’t the same.
Verdict is still out.

But the Kagawa situation? ...come on, you know that’s a L

He has one year left on his contract, with wages of 600,000 a week. Barcelona is going to want an arm and a leg on the transfer fee or a lot of players in return, and again who in their right mind is going to pay 600,000 a week wages for a 34 year old with one year left on his contract?

Only thing that can be done that makes sense, is for Barcelona to terminate the contract and allow him to walk for free, which is not going to happen.

So he will either stay for one more year and walk once his contract ends, or Barcelona will terminate his contract ( mutually agree) upon request and he walks. Or he re-ups on a sentimental player deal ( he is too much of a symbol to leave Barça). They will not be able do a transfer on a player who has one year left on his deal, making 600,000 a week and is 34 years old. What club in their right mind would do that?

He should have left years ago. ...might as well just go to MLS and be a billionaire soccer player in America with the endorsements and celebrity that would ring in.

Ronaldo wins again!

But no. Messi next stop from Barca is MLS in a few years. Next year they’ll just have to trust the new blood and their signings and take their lumps. Messi needs to alter his game though so he can give more defensively

Koeman saying the right things and i still put the odds at he stays, but there's more to this:

1. Koeman mentioned playing Griezzman in his proper position (YES) as well as Coutinho technically being a barca player and I'm not sure they can offload Coutinho. There's...not space for all (or barely really two) of them on the field at once. OBVIOUSLY MESSI IS FAR AND AWAY THE BEST. Just saying, that's a lot of money in wages tied up in a single position.

2. Koeman's list of untouchables didn't include a single one of Messi's friends. In fact, the list of aging players Koeman and Planas plan to try to sell is basically a list of Messi's friends (he's currently on vacation with Alba + Suarez and those are the two biggest names on the list). Busquets is also on the list, but that's because Koeman wants FDJ at CDM.

3. The board is saying the same stupid shit about he is under contract that they said about Neymar. Yes, Messi's clause is 700 million, but the team is in such shit with wages and debt that they might blink at 200 million or 250. Then again, selling Messi is an assurance you aren't winning a board election in March, but they're also likely to lose regardless.

4. The story about Messi's meeting with Koeman is not the "they met, they're good now" that happened with Setien. It's instead "messi doesn't trust the board/the project" Maybe Koeman can convince him and maybe this is how Messi influences the March elections, but that's not as reassuring as it should be.

I'd say 3:1 odds messi leaves. Even, at best, that he leaves next year. fucking bartomeu.

As predicted Havertz deal is dead! Good. Didn’t need him. Too much dough for a player we don’t need.

Fullback - check ( could use one more though)
Centerback - get 2 - still working
Defensive Mid - need one. Ampadu will be back.

Last I heard is that Chelsea does not want to pay the tag on him.... and other clubs have walked away because of the high price. His club gave an ultimatum. So that spelled dead to me. They fucking want us to break their club transfer record. 96 million is the tag.

http://www.goal.com/en-us/amp/news/chelsea-given-havertz-transfer-warning-as-leverkusen-refuse/1q59jrzqwyhnm17zjairuzzsxa

Our history of paying insane money for players is highly poor.we don’t need this guy.

Morata
Kepa( seen as the next great Spanish GK
Schvchenko
Torres.

So no I hope the deal is not imminent. So until that shit happens it’s dead.

To get Havertz.

Not a fan at all of this buy, and it has nothing to do with the kid’s talent.
He is talented, but this was a huge over pay when we need to take care of our defensive issues. This is a surplus move, because we really don’t need him.

The pressure will be on him to produce instantly, just like Morata, Kepa, etc.
Frank wanted him, now he got him... he will get sacked if it fails.

We are adding all this attacking talent but still no defense has been added...our defense was shit and leaked the most goals.

Welcome to chelsea

Didn't y'all allow 55 goals or something last season? That not being priority numero uno says a lot about modern recruiting too often focusing on adding flashy pieces than building an ensemble (PSG suffer from that too)

Very rarely do you get an unimpeded run at a generational talent. But the stars aligned with the Hazard war chest and lack of spending by other clubs due to the pandemic. A luxury for sure. But a luxury that could put Chelsea over the top sooner rather than later.

And I agree, the defense (and goalkeeping) is ass. Ben Chilwell and a 36 year old Thiago Silva aren't proper solutions. I guess a true revamp of the defense will have to wait a year. But that isn't the worst thing in the world. It's not like Chelsea are competing for a title next season. At the moment they have enough for top 4 (ideally top 3) and a respectable showing in the CL. That should be fine for next season.

No. It’s gambling, and every time we gamble we lose. We thought Kepa was a generational talent, and look where that has led us. 100 million for talent that we don’t need, so now we have all this SO called talent for a coach who has no idea how to put together a starting 11 or what formation to use.

That’s another thing. It’s not like Frank is an experienced champion coach. He is a rookie himself, and is still trying to figure out how to coach. These players could actually regress under him as he fumbles and fiddles around with shit. He is a highly offensive coach, with no understanding of balance, and it cost us all season. And now it’s affecting how we scout and purchase players.

Going after flash and so called talent, because a player does something good for 1 year, etc, can turn a franchise into shit really fast. It’s flash in the pan scouting and buying.

Either this will be highly successful or really, really bad. There is no in between here, which is why it is gambling.

Chelsea has always been a club of balance, at least having some solid players and strategies to win some hardware.

I’ve been through many of chelsea’s trials and tribulations, from Scolari to AVB to Torres, etc, but those situations were quick turn-arounds and quick-fixes.

This could actually ruin us for years. We shall see. They are chelsea players now, so they have my support.

We are about to sign Thiago Silva to a two year contract!!

We are about to break our own rule with giving players 30 years old or older
A one year contract. We didn’t want to give Willian 3 more years, who is an already
proven beast in the epl, but we give a 35 year old who has never played in the epl
a 2 year deal!!

He will be 36 years old when he hits the pitch for us!

This is our defensive upgrade...

This is not the Roman I know and this is not how Chelsea do business....Maria does not know what she is doing....Michael Emanelo please return and save us!

Apparently Fabrizio Romano is the Woj of Europe.

Looks like Tomori will go on loan and Emerson will end up somewhere in Italy once the Chilwell signing is complete.

Dude. It’s about to be so bad. Breaking our own rule and repeating history all in one day.

And the tomori loan is beyond dumb. He was playing really well before the injury, but when he came back , frank never looked at him again. It’s still a huge mystery among Chelsea supporters. All of the centerbacks he started was shit, proof of that by the goals we allowed, and he never went back to tomori.

Tomori and Zouma made for a quality tandem ...but we are weak at the position and you go and loan one of our most talented CB, and demand that we get a 36 year old who has never played in the EPL.

I see why Luiz jumped ship as as well as Willian.

We could have really used Luiz this year, but Frank had it in his head the there was no starting room for Luiz .....but we let him bounce and then the following year we turn and get a 36 year old??

Frank is really scaring me....as well as Maria ....so many shit decisions in the past 3 years. It stinks.

some twitter media dude rattled them to the point where they had to get at him directly. i see through their BS PR language. i'd love for them to drop the bag and prove me wrong tho. lets fucking compete or else just fold up shop.

https://utdreport.co.uk/2020/08/26/manchester-united-officially-respond-to-spending-criticism/?amp=1

‘Manchester United has been consistent in its position regarding recruitment since the start of the Covid crisis’:

The club point out that it remains committed to supporting the manager in strengthening the squad over the long-term.
The club also points out that this summer’s transfer window will not be ‘business as usual’ because of the huge economic impact from the pandemic, both in terms of immediate loss of revenue and uncertainty over the long-term impact of the crisis.
United’s point of view is that these harsh economic realities means the club must be cautious this summer to ensure that the club preserves its strength through this difficult period.
The above comments would suggest that the club will continue to be reluctant to invest, throughout the entire summer.

according to transfrmarket which is usually pretty decent. maybe a little optimistic.

reports from schalke are that while the team was a mess, he was pretty good. certainly worth a flier like a 3 million loan with option.

he never looked worse than competent, and sometimes he looked like their best player (but that does say something about the rest of the squad)

Juve could do a lot worse imo, and if Andrea Pirlo can do AND teach hes in a great spot personally

Black soccer players in Italy don’t go over well, too much racism from fans.

Lukaku has been subjected to some serious ass racism. When one of the country’s newspapers reports two black soccer players hugging each other after a game as Black Friday, that is not the place to be.

He came to Villa for one final challenge as a player and fell in love with the club. Because that's what people do with this club. Look at Tyrone Mings two years ago. On loan from Bournemouth, helped us win promotion and took the train home in his full Villa kit.

Look at the look on James Milner's face after he scored what he knew would be his final goal for the club, in front of the Holte End: https://resources.premierleague.com/photos/2019/09/16/95d6d73d-a524-4a4b-b134-e1c23abef2fb/milner-harewood-avl-whu.png?width=860&height=573

Look at Pepe Reina celebrating staying up just as hard as he celebrated World Cups and Champions Leagues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGvzVSW7gGU

That's the point- there's joy in the good moments at Villa.

Look at yourself in these threads. Nothing's ever good enough for you. Everything's a disaster always. 12 Champions Leagues and you're still mewling over the slightest setbacks that Real faces. CONSTANT bitching about Chelsea despite the fact that the club was the very definition of midtable champions before Roman came in with the shady ass Russian petrodollars.

Keep Villa's name out of your mouth.

That’s because we expect greatness, and middle table does not fly. That’s the difference between Villa and Chelsea. There are no moral victories. So what you settle for with your team would never fly at Stamford bridge. That’s the difference.

When you know something can be better, you demand it.

I remember years ago you said villa was going to make a run and this was their year, and it ended like it always ends. Lords of the Middle Table. So here we are again, same shit. Just saying. Cool you like hallmark love stories over winning titles, and want to cuddle around the tv when your team fights off relegation.

My invite was sincere, but fock it. Continue to eat dog shit, while your team is raped of its players by the top 5 teams.

Btw.

Thanks in advance for training and preparing John Terry to be the next coach at Chelsea.

Thanks.

It’s mostly for shits and giggles, because villa sucks.

Now we've got our own proper billionaires, and supporters leading the club from the pitch and the dugout. You love to see it.

I flipped on this Hertha B v. Karlsruhe German cup game, it was tied in regular time 90. Then watched all the extra time passively, a shityy game mind you, just for the hope of the PKs, only for some asshole to score at the 119 Mark.

They should just go to the Charity shield model and go straight to PKs. Oh well 40 min wasted.

Guardian says this probably clears the way for Gini to go to Barca, but Thiago is a big addition to the midfield.

spend the money on dest because we don't have a RB and our next decent internal prospect is only 17.

And he's a great all around player.

I don't follow Barca but for a team in transition or that needs stabilizing, he'll probably be pretty useful.

that will only serve to block youth from showing whether or not they're legit future parts of the squad. Entirely unnecessary move just to get a dutch player for a manager who isn't likely to last more than a year. dumb.

Gini's a fine player and this isn't about his quality but about the squad's needs.

They're gonna hate Gini. Or at least blame him for all that goes wrong.

he was flat this year. He finally was what his haters said he was. Gini would be better. Neither makes the team significantly better and barca needs to stop buying good not great in the midfield and promoting its youth.

Gini would be blocking Puig from getting minutes. that's dumb. it's time for barca to see what Puig offers as a regular member of the rotation.

But I'm happy for him. And now I guess I'll cheer for Liverpool. I've enjoyed watching them for this run, but been pretty indifferent about their success -- match by match. But having Thiago means I hope they win the PL and League Cups.

kinda like Tottenham and Everton too.

I wish Thiago and LFC the best unless and should they come up against the almighty Barça. (Yea, let's not talk about that collapse pls.)
