"Larry June/Alchemist - “The Great Escape” deserves its own thread"
I’ve had a chance to sit with it for a month now, and I absolutely love this album.
I’d heard Larry June here and there - every now and then one of his songs would pop up on Spotify. But I wasn’t really up on him….and now I’m a big fan.
Vocally reminds me of Boldy a bit, vibe reminds me of Curren$y a bit…..but he’s rapping about 401Ks and doing burpees and consuming sea moss and shit. I absolutely love it!
And Alchemist’s beats on here fit him perfectly. Props to Alchemist - I listened to the album because he produced it, and now I’m a Larry June fan and will check for all his work.

Alchemist can't miss, I've loved all of these albums/EP's he's done the past couple of years, just really knows how to craft an enjoyable listen front to back.
With Larry I agree with the Curren$y comparison, cool vibe, isn't an amazing rapper but definitely does nothing to mess things up.
__ I don't like the beat anymore because its just a loop. ALC didn't FLIP IT ENOUGH!
Flip it enough? Flip these. Flip off. Go flip some f*cking burgers.(c)Kno

They’re such different albums and I like them for different reasons, so it’s hard to pick one over the other. But those are the albums that have moved me the most so far. Thought is 3rd.

just barely.
These are my top albums of the year so far. Still going through some from today.
Skyzoo & The Other Guys - The Mind of a Saint El Michels Affair & Black Thought - Glorious Game Klassy - Good Seeds Jidenna - Me, You & God Planet Giza - Ready When You Are KAMAUU - LACUNA & The House of Mirrors Larry June & The Alchemist - The Great Escape
I think all of those could be called rap. Daniel Caesar - NEVER ENOUGH is up there too but I'm thinking we are keeping it to rap albums for this convo.
I have the Larry album pretty high up but I am thinking it will keep moving down and end up in the honorable mentions category.
