the repub majority changed the law and passed a rule that the party of the current senator nominates the replacement and not the gov (after the gov was won by a democrat lol).

they saw the writing on the wall for mitch.

and mitch and his allies have been grooming cameron to replace mitch for a while. gov was just a stepping stone to the eventual senate seat.

i don't care what party you support. this is ridiculous.

She doesn't know the extent of his evil so she was basically just like "that was still sad to watch." And I responded more or less with the above. The amount of pain and suffering and death and destruction he has wrought directly and/or indirectly (but either way, intentionally) is incalculable. So I hope that his inevitable death is slow and painful and miserable for him.

i think there is a fine line.

let's go back to 1944, Hitler is still alive... we can think "good", he has become incapacitated, he can no longer perpetrate evil in the world.

But, there is a line somewhere. I think we would be right to want him executed in a swift manner. But I think we'd be wrong if we made popcorn and sat down to watch him tortured to a slow death.

wanting McConnell off the political scene and wanting him to suffer a loss of his faculties are two separate things. i don't think we should root for the latter.

that something that concerns me is when this easy "de-humanizing" attitude is applied not just to figure heads like McConnell, but is applied to...all 47 million Americans who voted for Trump. As though all 47mn share every atrocious belief of Trumps. This is demonstrably false and I think this attitude is damaging to the left's attempts to take back this country. I know this sounds to many of you like "appeasement" on my part, but I think it is basic common sense and prudent politics: don't cast off with a hand wave 47mn people as "evil"/morally irredeemable.

It's not like Trump's atrocious beliefs were hidden or a secret when that 47 million voted for him.
