The secret ingredient is the lemon and oranges. It doesn't taste citrus-y, but they citric acids make the chicken tender.

Fuck him - I hope he's in excruciating pain.

either way, he needs to dip out, even though there's a 100% chance his replacement will be even worse

If I had won so thoroughly, I would retire and enjoy what my weird, evil hands had built. Do woodworking or play with your grandkids or something. Being driven to dominate and ruin is one thing, but to do to it so successfully and have it all turn to ash in your mouth so you need to clock in every day is grim. Like a curse.

13489140, He nudged the local legislature in KY Posted by cp900, Wed Jul-26-23 10:17 PM
to pass some law restricting who the governor (a Democrat) could appoint should he exit before an election.
Here is what they passed:
The appointee shall be selected from a list of three (3) names submitted by the state executive committee of the same political party as the Senator who held the vacant seat to be filled, shall have been continuously registered as a member of that political party since December 31 of the preceding year, and shall be named within twenty-one (21) days from the date of the list submission
So he can pick the least odious out of 3 probably awful candidates by law now...
Edited to add, Daniel Cameron would probably be on the short list (*puke*)
|

13489233, the rule was only instated because KY has a democratic governor Posted by shygurl, Fri Jul-28-23 10:30 AM
The super majority republican legislation only did it as a way to undermine and steal more power from the office.
Trust me, there's nothing fair about stripping a democratically elected official from his fairly won powers.

13490656, wouldnt be surprised if daniel cameron gets beat in the fall for ky gov Posted by Monojuevos, Wed Aug-30-23 01:41 PM
then mitch retires and the repub legislature nominates him for senate.
the repub majority changed the law and passed a rule that the party of the current senator nominates the replacement and not the gov (after the gov was won by a democrat lol).
they saw the writing on the wall for mitch.
and mitch and his allies have been grooming cameron to replace mitch for a while. gov was just a stepping stone to the eventual senate seat.

Mitch has actively made the world a worse place and we would be better off if he wasn't here so miss me with that fake empathy/sympathy. People act like it's "just politics" but the shit this dude supports, opposes, the things he's made happen and prevented from happening have real effects on people's lives.
I know it's the most extreme and cliched example, but imagine it's 1943 and muhfuckas are running around talking about, "I know Adolf's done some bad things, but I don't wish death upon anyone." Man, fomf.
One of my favorite Killer Mike lines is "I wish you nothing but pain and bad health..." Applicable.

She doesn't know the extent of his evil so she was basically just like "that was still sad to watch." And I responded more or less with the above. The amount of pain and suffering and death and destruction he has wrought directly and/or indirectly (but either way, intentionally) is incalculable. So I hope that his inevitable death is slow and painful and miserable for him.

It’s as if some have to see us physically being harmed by racist to see them as racist and realize they don’t deserve our anything.
It’s literally going to take an old b&w photograph of a young Mitch participating in a lynching and/or rape for some and even then there will be those saying ‘but as a human it pains me blah blah blah’.
No sympathy for the devil.

he needs to be out of office. that would be enough for most of us.
with that said, it's really hard to feel empathy for someone that has dehumanized whole swathes of people for politics. we don't owe him that based on his own behavior. not hours.
|
13490838, yea it's tricky Posted by fif, Tue Sep-05-23 12:41 PM
i think there is a fine line.
let's go back to 1944, Hitler is still alive... we can think "good", he has become incapacitated, he can no longer perpetrate evil in the world.
But, there is a line somewhere. I think we would be right to want him executed in a swift manner. But I think we'd be wrong if we made popcorn and sat down to watch him tortured to a slow death.
wanting McConnell off the political scene and wanting him to suffer a loss of his faculties are two separate things. i don't think we should root for the latter.
|
13490839, i'll add Posted by fif, Tue Sep-05-23 12:51 PM
that something that concerns me is when this easy "de-humanizing" attitude is applied not just to figure heads like McConnell, but is applied to...all 47 million Americans who voted for Trump. As though all 47mn share every atrocious belief of Trumps. This is demonstrably false and I think this attitude is damaging to the left's attempts to take back this country. I know this sounds to many of you like "appeasement" on my part, but I think it is basic common sense and prudent politics: don't cast off with a hand wave 47mn people as "evil"/morally irredeemable.
|
13490846, Come on Posted by Lurkmode, Tue Sep-05-23 02:34 PM

and yeah he's a garbage person, and yeah there's always a line. like when they track down those old nazis and some people will say he's just a feeble old man, but really i doubt i'd bat an eye if someone pushed him down a flight of stairs. but that said, people can always bend these things to your own politics and sensibilities. something happens to obama and people can say, well he deported millions of people, he ordered a drone strike on a wedding and who knows how many innocents are dead as a result of drone strikes he approved. right wingers will say he killed babies just as biden does, as a result of their abortion policies, etc..
with mitch i don't really care how people react, just don't tell me how i should.

13490847, It just makes you think about old people you *actually* care about. Posted by Frank Longo, Tue Sep-05-23 02:41 PM
Like, I watch those videos and see my grandfather-in-law, who was like that for years before he passed, and it was fucking brutal.
I don't really give a fuck about Mitch suffering, as he's made so many people suffer for decades, but when you watch *anyone* suffering, it makes sense that it's "hard to watch," because the situation, not the person, creates an automatic emotional reaction. We don't want to see people go through it, because it becomes a grim and brutal reminder of how so many of us will go out, at the end of the day.
It's also just always so much worse *watching* these things happen publicly vs. hearing about them too. Like, if dude fell down a flight of stairs, like you said, I think the grave dancing would commence and be justified. If we *watched* him fall down a flight of stairs, there'd be a visceral "Jesus Christ, that must be terribly fucking painful" reaction. So while I definitely get the partying over Mitch's suffering... I definitely would rather not have to see it. If that makes sense.
|
13490850, 100% Posted by Mynoriti, Tue Sep-05-23 03:06 PM
especially the second part. In my hypothetical which i screwed up the wording on I meant the falling down the stairs part is the old nazi and not mitch but the point is still the same. It's easier for someone to beleive if they actually witnessed mitch fall down a flight of stairs they'd just think fuck him, look at the harm he caused, but just about anyone who isn't a complete psycho would have a pretty human visceral reaction to seeing that sort of thing first hand.
Ilbut i think at the very least just about everyone agrees this man isn't even fit to be a wal-mart greeter at this point

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was hospitalized Sunday morning, his office announced without specifying why.
“Senator McConnell was admitted to the hospital this morning. He is receiving excellent care,” David Popp, spokesperson for the senator, said in a statement. He did not immediately reply to a request from POLITICO for additional information about McConnell’s condition.

https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2026/06/22/congress/mcconnell-still-out-00971071
Sen. Mitch McConnell will not return to the Senate this week, a spokesperson for the Kentucky Republican said Monday.
“Senator McConnell is still working closely with staff on Senate business and Kentucky matters as he continues his recovery. However, he will not be voting this week,” said the spokesperson, David Popp.
McConnell’s ongoing absence means planned Senate Appropriations Committee markups scheduled for later this week will be canceled, according to a committee aide who was granted anonymity to speak ahead of a formal announcement.
The former GOP leader was hospitalized earlier this month for undisclosed reasons and missed votes last week. The Senate is set to start a two-week recess later this week.

13527959, EMS attended to unconscious person at Mitch McConnell's home Posted by luminous, Fri Jul-03-26 02:23 PM
https://abcnews.com/Politics/ems-personnel-attended-unconscious-person-mitch-mcconnells-home/story?id=134412030
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the Washington home of Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell last month to attend to an unconscious person who appeared to be in cardiac arrest, according to EMS dispatch audio reviewed by ABC News.
While the audio does not indicate who the person is, the incident occurred on the same day that McConnell was hospitalized on June 14.
At 8:36 a.m., a dispatcher directed an "ALS response" ambulance to McConnell's residence for an "unconscious" person. "ALS" stands for Advanced Life Support.
At 8:42 a.m., the EMS responder, identified as "Medic 3," responded to the dispatcher, saying "inform supervisor CPR in progress."
At 8:43 a.m., the dispatcher said "EMS to respond, for cardiac arrest," and once again repeated McConnell's address.
McConnell is not named directly in any of the audio.
A spokesperson for McConnell declined to comment on the audio on Thursday but did provide an update on McConnell's condition.

Dems aren't directly to blame, no.
But this alleged opposition party did absolutely nothing to force this issue. Dude was missing for months and everyone- including KY's wannabe prez Dem Governor- sat on their hands or at best wrote strongly worded letters.
And now, this dude is a sitting corpse and Dems aren't making an issue of it. Just letting his people tell him how to vote without batting an eye.
FOH
We are in this mess because of the GOP AND the Democrats not fighting back and most of them not giving a shit about anything other than their own careers/bank accounts/ etc.
And L O fucking L at the idea of Dems adding term limits. You guys are like children every few years with "when Dems regain power, I sure hope they do A/B/C"....and any non-naive motherfucker knows full well they won't.
They didn't do A/B/C the last few times they had power, what on gods green earth makes you think THIS is the time?
Not to mention, half the time they themselves are doing A and some of B.
Maybe I'm just mad I still don't live in this fairy land where the good guys are going to save the day THIS TIME. But I also legit do not understand how y'all never, ever learn.

too stupid to understand NO NIGGA NOT DIRECT BLAME, but waiting on them to just STOP and play fair is fucking stupid and will NEVER happen. so YOU the opposition have to force the issue by any means if you want change instead of pointing a finger saying LOOK at what they’re doing. we see what they’re doing, and you do too we also see you doing nothing about it

But unless safeguards are in place, AI could spawn new threats to our rights, our way of life, to our privacy, how we work, and how we protect our nation.
