"Movies you would've had to seen as a kid to appreciate now"
Movies like The Goonies and Lost Boys, Just One of the Guys come to mind.
I ask this because i get alil upset when certain people say some of these movies suck or are just "ok", and i know it's because they never saw them as kids.
What are some others?

I watched it for the first time with the fam last year around Christmas and I kept dozing off. I gave up about 2/3 into it. I think part of it is, now that I'm grown up, I don't really care for musicals (with a few exceptions). Loved 'em as a kid, tho'.

I never really saw it all the way through until I was about 16 or 18. It's a great idea: use your computer to build a super model who wants to hang out with you. I imagine that would appeal to all men across all age groups.
you hadda be there but watching dr. j dunk in the park in street shoes, priceless... as an adult, i was like, why aint he slip & bust his ass? as a kid? man, i was in awe at those dunks!

only if you were the only kid in America who didnt watch the show. All in all it's still a "cartoon" movie and if you like anime you should like this film no matter what.
And of course since I live with a lil cousin i had to pass on the legacy. He was AMAZED when he say Megatron transform into a gun and merk them on the ship.
It's a shame they dont make em like they use to for these kids

probably one of the only cartoon series where characters actually died... this movie was real heavy emotionally... tell me you didn't feel SOMETHING after seeing Optimus turn gray and tilt his head and die...
Laughter gives us distance. It allows us to step back from an event, deal with it and then move on.

I saw that for the first time when I was in college. It remains one of my favorites to this day. Most of my friends that like this movie didn't see it until they were older as well and love it too.
special effects being equal? 4 through 6 have a clear story and dialogue advantage, to my mind. The whole Anakin/Padme romance angle is wretch-inducing. And Jar Jar more than cancels out the Ewoks.

I enjoyed it only because it was funny to watch my roommate, a glowering, taciturn linebacker, sing along to all the songs with childish glee. Well that and the oompa-loompas.

Not sure, I don't remember. But I saw it right after I saw the new one, and I realized that absolutely EVERYTHING about the Wilder version is better. Literally everything.

and I like Gene Wilder a lot, or at least in those Mel Brooks comedies I do.
But I had read both books as a kid, multiple times, and was really disappointed when I saw it, that they turned it into a musical. And it's been a long time since I read either of the books, but I felt the movie didn't really get the tone or the nuances down either. So maybe it's just another example of the movie not being as good as the book, but I think it fits for this post too. And either way, that movie's only a cult classic, not "still fucking classic", imo.

heavyweights is maybe my favourite childhood movie, and is still fucking hilarious today. i actually picked up the dvd last month and have maybe seen it 3 times since then. but dont deny that if you should it to an adult film buff, they wouldnt hack it to shit. "ben stiller is an egotistical idiot who plays the same role in everything. they were playing off of the success of goldberg and nucklepuck." blah blah blah.

Well I saw it 4 the 1st time about a year ago & enjoyed it quite a bit 4 a kids flick.

Because I saw that for the first time a few days ago and it failed to terrify, even though so many people cite as one of the scariest movies they ever saw as a kid.
Also, I saw Labryinth a few years ago and it didn't do much for me.

It's one of my favorite movies, but if I hadn't seen it as a kid and developed a sentimental attachment to it, I would be way more bothered by the fact that the main characters all looked like they hadn't seen the inside of a high school for at *least* 5 years.

If you're looking for a horry movie and you expect todays definition of a horror movie you won;t get it. But to this day I can't watch the whole movie!!

were about to go out one night but Disorderlies came on and I told her we couldn't leave. I didn't know the next time it would be on tv again, the last time I watched it I was like 9 or something. I told her how funny it was and that she'd regret not watching it...
I kept saying "It's about to get funny, just wait," but after 45 she got fed up lol.
