What’s up players? Back on the boards to address a few things that should be cleared up.
#1. Mele Mel vs. KRS-One
It was a Friday night in the Latin quarters & Boogie Down Productions were performing. Someone, who I choose not to mention, told KRS that I dissed BDP (which I didn’t). While they were on stage performing, KRS called me out. I jumped on stage. We both said a rhyme (I don’t remember who went first) and we agreed that we would come back the following Friday and square off for money (I don’t remember how much). That next Friday BDP had a show and the battle never happened. Shortly after that, Scott LaRock, KRS & I squashed the whole thing. Very anti-climatic. But, as legends go, we did battle, and 20 years from now the rumor will be that I shot him. Hypothetical result: He’d have a way better chance to take me now. I had way, way, way, way too many rhymes.
#2 Mele Mel vs. Mikey D.
As legends have it, we “battled”. In reality, the year before I won the The New Music Seminar battle for world supremacy (or whatever the f--- they called it). Me, Caz & King Sun were in the finals (best battle in the history of hip-hop). Prior to that year, everyone who had won came back the next year to defend their title, but for some reason, I was not allowed to. And, to add insult to injury, they took a year to give me the belt that I had won. So, what I did, to prove to Tom Silverman (the creator of The New Music Seminar) that I had just as much power in hip-hop as him, I challenged Mikey D. as a bluff to take both the belts. I was not really thinking about Mikey D., but was getting revenge on Tom Silverman for 1.) not letting me defend my title & 2.) waiting ‘till the next seminar to give me the prize that I had won a whole year before. In other words, I said a rhyme, Caz gave me Mikey D.’s belt & I walked out of the joint without security or anyone else doing anything to me. Mele Mel owns hip-hop.
#3 Mele Mel vs. Willie D.
It was at a celebrity boxing tournament. Me & Willie D. were in the ring. Round 1, we both tried to throw a punch and our heads clashed and we both went down. Willie D., whose head was much harder than mine, got up before me. When I got up, I was on queer street and they stopped the fight. Willie D. was declared the winner. He was a HEAD of his time. (lol).
So there it is players, all of the dirty details as told by the man himself.
