"okay artist discographies"

i'm in the painstaking process of trying to put together discographies for the okay artist sites, but i know there's stuff out there that i don't have on the list yet. so i'm gonna post what i have for each artist in a new branch under this post.
if you have anything to add for that artist, post it up.

note: i'm not messing w/ all the stuff ?uest/soulquarians produced right now. so for the roots section, just roots stuff. damn, now i need to explain what that means. eff it. we'll sort it out later.

I have this strange but cool German remix 12":
"You Got Me" (The Mixes) - The Roots Vs. The Q-Cru (MCA, B923120-01)

And of course there is the Hardware 12" by Black Thought. Does that count?

I'm doing this off the top of my head, no liners, so forgive mistakes:

Common - Cold Blooded (LWFC... I think The Roots are credited as a band on this)
Common - All Night Long (ODIWAMS... not sure, but I think The Roots are credited here too)

Soundtracks -
Burn Hollywood Burn - Bamboozled
Work - ???? I can't remember... it's that joint with the Billie Jean bassline...

Hmmm... I had one other one, but I've lost it... soon enough.

Also on Zap Mama's album, ?uestlove drums on the jawn "Songe" (sp?).

wasn't that on Rahzel's CD featuring her and NOT the other way around? If yes, then might as well put "Make the Music With Your Mouth" and "All I know" as singles

It was released as an Erykah Badu single, though.

In response to Reply # 35

There's a french hiphop song by the French Group IAM that features Rahzel, named "Dangereux". Akhenaton, from this group, produced also "Prime Exemple" from Talib Kweli. There's also another french group La Relève who did something together with The Roots, but I've forgotten the name of the song, maybe I find it somewhere..

The name of this EP is "Retour aux Sources." Roots crew members appear on 2 songs - "La violence (remix)" and "Phillystyle." Consequently, this is the only time that I've ever come across this French group (for any French heads who give a shit).

With regards to Razhel - he is not on the original album version of IAM's "Dangereux" (album - "L'ecole du micro d'argent"); he is on a live version that you can find on Napster.

Lastly, while were talkin' French hiphop, I know that Common did a song with a frog named Alliance Ethnik. THIS GUY IS A WACK ASS BITCH for those who don't already know. Nique sa mère. Peace.

The Roots were featured on a Solaar Ep that was called "Solaar System", back in 94-95.
I can't remember the name of the damn song right now, I'll post it when I get back home. Solaar was still interesting at that time.

Actually, "Bend Ova" was the A side of that single, it was on his album (the B side was indeed just on the single).

But you're right, "Car Horn" wasn't the only one not on the compilation. I stand corrected.

"Police don't sweep to get the dust out
They want your name in the system,
I need to mention the death penalty is
legal lynchin
People listen, they got teenagers up in
the line up
To fill the new facility they built,
they need the crime up
Please, the war on drugs is really war
on the youth
War on the people
War on the truth
The violent crimes rise,
the silent dies as sirens cry through
the night
People fight for what's left and not
what's right"

"Prime Example" is not /w Hi Tek. It's a solo cut. On the other side is "S" by Bruizza. Label info is (No Sellout/Delabel, 7243 8972926 9). Apparantly it's taken from the album "The Magnet", with music 'from and inspired' by the French gangsta film "Comme un Aimant".

In response to Reply # 5

There is a group called Twice consisting of two sets of twin that recorded a version of Sparkle that was produced by D'Angelo and Angie Stone. It was distributed by Silas/MCA in 1997 and contains 4 versions. D is all over the joint, contributing background vox and it sounds like he's playing all of the instruments. (Has his signature rhodes/organ sound) There were promos of this single that surfaced before the album's cancellation. I have an extra cd copy and an extra 12" copy if anyone is interested.

It's not a discography or nothing, but it has a lot of the
b-sides and cameo appearances, so you might find the Roots
page on OHHLA helpful. Peace.
