Wow, it's only a few weeks away until Street Fighter IV hits store shelves. If you want an early pre-order deal, this offer from Circuit City looks like a champ. Circuit City is selling the PS3 version of the game for $50, and will throw in a free $10 gift card. (The 360 version, strangely, costs the regular $60 retail price.)

It's a terrific deal, but there is one caveat: Circuit City may go out of business before the game comes out. Ouch.

The fact that it can use damn near ANY usb controller (including the oh so lovely Saturn USB pads) means I'll definitely be getting all my multi-platform fighting games on PS3.

In fact, I tried to order some of the fighting pads from eBay recently (although they ran out after I placed my order and I had to get a refund).

I may wait and see how good the madcatz pad is since it will be wireless and work with PS2 games the ANY usb thing only works with PS3 and PSone games (you need to use the PS button to activate the controller in PS2 games and only specifically PS3 controllers have those).

Then again, I just got some extra work, so maybe I'll spring for an HRAP or one of those VSHG jawns...

If you have a 360, you can always mod a PS3 stick to work with it. Just put in a 360 pcb...that can't be all that hard. There's even a guide to doing it with the VSHG:

Even though I know that a pad that can be used on PS1, PS2 and PS3 games and is wireless would be better than the Saturn jawn that only works on PS1 and PS3 games and is wired, I’m still leaning towards the Saturn jawns just because of my past poor experiences with madcatz.

I am going to wait and see, though.

If they’re THAT good, I may get one for 360 and really start killing heads in Pac-Man CE.

Im amped for the madcatz. Even though they have had...hrm 15 years of bringing out absolute shit product 100% of the time, it seems this time they are tailoring it with the shoryuken crowd with at least the limited edition stick being so easy to mod a 4 year old could do it.

The hori EX2 is what I have been using, but it's been weird for me. My fireballs and uppercuts have been razor sharp as always, but slightly more complex moves (double fireball motion ultras, 360's) have been total crap...can't tell if its because I have been playing with a pad so long or if the stick is just not that precise.

Speaking with Eurogamer earlier today, peripheral manufacturer Mad Catz revealed a struggle to meet UK demand for the Street Fighter IV FightStick: Tournament Edition (pictured). Considering the UK is "over there" and we're, well, over here, we wanted to see the situation report for North America.

We spoke with the company's PR head, Alex Verrey, who was surprisingly candid about the situation. The issue is that the initial production run of the $150 Tournament stick consisted of 3,000 units. The company's pre-order count is now "many, many, times that amount," which Verrey admits caught the manufacturer by surprise. The sticks are currently going back into production, but it will take a little time for turnaround. Naturally, more units were allotted for North America than Europe, but he couldn't get into numbers. Although many who order now may not get the stick day and date with SF IV's release, we were informed the company intends to make sure that pre-order demand is met.

As for the other official Street Fighter IV controllers, Verrey believes that there should be adequate supply. Another topic we discussed at length was the quality of Mad Catz products, and he asked that consumers don't think of this Mad Catz as the same one they remember. He emphasized the new Mad Catz has evolved and is focusing more on quality. He reiterated that its wares come with a two-year warranty and they are committed to better products.
