No, not necessarily this exact, specific thing.
But there's always some ultimately small story that gains traction and interest well beyond the scope and true impact of the story itself.
Social media makes things like this spread further and faster than ever before. We've had too many viral videos to count, and the stories behind/about them take hold because of the very nature of media today.
This some shit that's big now and will be forgotten once there's some resolution with the lawsuit (WHAT?).
Five years from now, when some other left field story pops up and people are asking the same questions and making the same "wtf is happening to society" comments, this will be a story where someone says, nah, there's always some shit like this, you remember that girl Gorilla Glue in her hair?
Because right now, I'm thinking, from a news standpoint, this isn't much different from the girl who tried to jump off a roof and broke her ankles because she missed the swimming pool.
