who dont have to appeal to the broader ny dem electorate, much less the broader statewide general electorate.
there are a lot of demos/factions across the state that have specific voting patterns and candidate preferences. and the reality is that candidates as far to the left as aoc dont appeal to enough of them.
whos a bigger star than bernie? he only got ~40% of the vote in an ny primary in 2016 and would have done even worse in 2020 if he was still running (got less than 20% officially but he did that weird drop out but still campaign shit to try sneak in a few more delegates).
and bernie actually appeals to some white voters outside of nyc that aoc doesnt.
nothing about an aoc/schumer race would surprise me or deviate from my prediction. im pretty sure id call it close to the official results.
