12. "Is this what Sunday Schools, in the Black Church, is like now?" In response to In response to 0 Mon Jan-05-15 01:46 PM by Cam
I don't go to Church, but what I remember of Sunday School from my youth, when visiting my Grandparents', is being taught Bible stories by little old ladies.
Why can't/don't Black Churches do more to provide partially non-secular educational regimens, as a way to increase self worth, intellectual curiosity, and a bridge in the gap of cultural awareness, opposed to mindlessly worshipping people for having a little money--like the video shows? Think of the partnerships with HBCU's and Africana/Black Studies programs from leading institutions. To simplify it, even just using the research and documentaries Skip Gates does http://www.pbs.org/wnet/black-in-latin-america/ He at least has the cache of Harvard, to provide legitimacy.
I wonder if Hebrew schools have a centralized monolithic curriculums?
