Tell that to the little Black girl who told me she'd rather look like the "white Barbie". She was visiting the Barbie web site and even her Latina partner said she'd rather not look like a white doll. I think this modeling self-image from dolls was only the beginning (for Black, white and other girls). With the popularity (and affordability) of cosmetic surgery and reality TV the message is that alteration is good, especially to fit the standard.
