Someone would offer him a lot of money on potential, so the C's gotta pay up to keep him. I get that.
He's also significantly younger than Buddy, but Buddy has shown he's a very very good player who deserves his money. At least Tatum had a crazy playoff run.
His per 36 numbers are fine. 18/6/2. I don't watch the Celtics all the time, so maybe a Boston fan can speak to this more but this seems like a deal they'll probably regret.
but also probably not a problem w/ the CBA situation in the long run.
he's a plus defender with athleticism who probably woulda gotten a max this summer if he left because he's young and has potential and this year's FA looks to suuuuuuuck. and if his shooting is 17-18 shooting not 18-19, he'll earn it, especially as his handling and playmaking has improved.
also seems like a good locker room guy.

First being Kawhi, obviously.
But, like, these dudes are why teams will take a non-shooting dude with the physical tools to be a star. Because if you hit that 1% outcome where he can really shoot? You've found the future.

That is a very valid indeed question, especially since I would think Jaylen Brown could add a hell of a lot more than Derrick White could in overall basketball attributes.

1. It seems to me like, with the insane amount of on-ball talent the team already has, they might be looking for a pure 3-and-D team player type, someone who impacts winning without needing the ball in their hands. In which case, White is, like, one of the best in the NBA.
2. Wasn't Brown outspokenly critical of Nike? Might be a decision being made over Grant Hill's head, tbh.

Tweeting at Nike probably *isn't* the way to make future teams... but that's never stopped Jaylen before, lol.
