there are a lot of guards who wouldn't have contested because they wouldn't have wanted to get posterized..

Knight going over there like that without hesitation shows he has some defensive balls..

I always tell people one of the greatest defensive guards...fukk that..one of the greatest defensive players in NBA history....Michael Cooper had multiple famous dunks happen on him.... that was because regardless of whatever he was going to contest.....

Andrew Toney is the only cat that i saw that got the best against Coop, however not many cats could say that.

by running to contest a dunk from a center like that..

trust me...

it shows he has something that not every young player has...

it's not like Jordan dunked on a center or a forward...

don't act like Brandon Knight is Shawn Bradley....lol.

Monroe is looking up at the dunk, looks down at BK on the floor and he shivers likemhe just saw a killing in a horror movie or something.

And damn did y'all see how hard the ball bounced off Knight's head??? He already on the ground after getting rocked and then the ball explodes off his head like that?

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Are you so removed from the experience of being a sports fan that you could watch that, and your FIRST thought was "He's a C on a PG, it's not impressive"? Because my first, second and third thoughts were AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Basically, I'm saying you're a sports hipster. "I didn't think it was that impressive. Godard's seminal 'Le rapport D'unk' did it with much more panache, and twenty years earlier, at that." Go write 1000 words on Girls in PTP.

Do you really need me to validate your experience?

What I'm saying is I was underwhelmed.

When I see in the other post DeAndre murdered BK. I was expecting something more. This was just DeAndre dunking on BK.

And to me, that's what he's supposed to do.

I don't care that it was BK. Kyrie crossed up BK, and my first reaction was, "That was good."

***shrugs***

Now you can continue to talk about "Girls" or whatever the fuck you want, because I'm sure you honestly feel you have a clever point to make.

The only other recent time I can say is when T-Jones dunked on Jodie, and that's cuz I like both.

One man is 6'11 and a half, and almost 280 lbs.

Another is barely 6'2 and 190 lbs soaking wet.

Why is this so hard for people to understand?

Like I said, even the Pistons broadcasting crew was going HAM. Twitter going HAM, Bron going HAM.

Its not even about who its on. I get it...it wouldve been nicer were it on Monroe.

But bottom line for you, Billy O, Warren Coolidge is this.

If youve ever played basketball this is an embarrassing play to be on the back end of.

I wish I would get dunked on in any level and cry "but i'm only 5'8". I was supposed to be there on that rotation and this big 7 foot motherfuker just happened to jump higher than me.

FOH youd get laughed off the court even more.

Anyone whos played the game at any level knows this is an embarrassing play to be on the back end of. Yes he made the right move...but that shit happens in sports...you get embarrassed. Im sure Bk has dished outhis fair share of embarrassing moments on other guys.

That's essentially what I'm saying though. Shit happens.

I've gotten dunked on when I was a kid, playing with the big boys.

And I've dunked on people.

Thats what DeAndre does. He dunks on people. BK getting caught up in making a sensible play tried to go for the ball (I don't know why) and got dunked on.

Maybe if I would've saw the game and the play live, I'd be more hyped. But to hear about it for a good while, then finally seeing it, it was underwhelming.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

...as far as this message board environment goes...

IDK, I mean it was brutal, and DeAndre certainly made an athletic play to go up and get it, but it wasnt a get up out of my seat moment and run out the door type shit, like KJ on Hakeem or even scrub Ricky Davis on Steve Nash.

that just means it was nasty and disgusting...which it was. Doesn't mean it was an impressive feat per se. Just that goddammmmmm deandre stole his soul.

not sure why that's hard to comprehend.

That dunk would've been just as good even if BK wasn't there just for the power he used to dunk it and the way he caught it far from the hoop and still put it in.

BK jumping and getting knocked down doesn't make it more impressive.

wow jordan is a phenomenal dunker because of this but wow that was a vicious dunk.

Just like when durant lit up the summer league a few years ago, it wasn't "impressive" bc of the competition but people still ooh'd and ah'd because it was entertaining and fun to watch.

In the grand scheme of things, was it an impressive feat? No

Was that shit utterly disgusting? FUCK YES!

The boy got shitted on...in practically the WORSE way.

Ya'll apologist really need to just live in the moment and stop with all this qualitative BS. That was a soul stealing dunk...regardless of the size difference. And Brandon should take heed as he damn near got killed hitting the floor like that.

It's one thing to make the right play, it's another to be a foolish hero. If you can't take a charge in that scenario as a PG, which he CLEARLY couldn't, you try to swat the ball before it reaches him, swipe at his arm in passing or GTF out of the way.

That shit was dangerous and ya'll need to cut it out. lol

it was a terrible mistake even on that level because it gave them a crowd-inciting highlight with a time stoppage & a free extra point to boot.

Knight learned the hard way that day, may this help him moving forward.

took a weak foul that obviously didn't affect the 'shot' & got knocked on his ass while creating even more of an emotional swing than a nice dunk normally would have.

There was nothing good about what he did there besides not get injured.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

thinking otherwise being the 'Ston Alliance & the Cat Gurgular.

He gets zero points for trying there, in fact he lost an extra point & some dignity in the process.

Good thing he didn't end up getting actually physically fucked up bringing a knife to a gun fight that way the rest of us can still laugh about it.

There's a chance you will get dunked on. Especially if its by a Center.

He's probably finishing up a shoot around RIGHT NOW.

My advice, is don't do that dumbass shit again so you don't get hurt. Just stand there and take a charge. No need to jump.

nobody's trying to act like the kid just suffered thru the Battle Royal chapter in Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man.

His personal life won't really suffer besides seeming himself on the wrong end of an oft-replayed highlight & being a twitter punchline for about a week.

He'll live, obviously a kid who grow up with those ears has suffered thru likely worse ridicule at some point coming up.

no one gives a shit about that 1 point

the crowd reaction means nothing in the context of a game i guarantee you did not watch

and the pistons 20 year old point guard didnt give up on a play that half the NBA (at least) would have

you really having a tough time figuring out why he doesnt care?

the most important part of that highlight to me, him, and every other pistons fan is BK competing and putting his body on the line...everything else is window dressing to a young team getting blown out without 1 of their 2 best players

That's the level we're discussing here.

I'm surprised a Philly paper even runs the score to that game let alone has it as a Top 5 Sports headline of the day with 'soul stealing' in it.

Look at the camera angle from under the rim - when he initially jumped he was tying to block the lob, but he saw DeAndre coming, turned his head toward him and adjusted his arm midair to try to block the shot.

He should have just let his momentum keep carrying him the other way and he would have avoided getting pancaked.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--basketball-s-backward-culture-makes-punch-line-of-brandon-knight-for-trying-to-stop-deandre-jordan-s-dunk-174058736.html

Outside the window within the coach's office, we could see Brandon Knight still on the court inside the Detroit Pistons' basketball facility. These had been hard training camp practices, and yet Knight still hadn't gone home. The Pistons' coach, Lawrence Frank, nodded toward him and shook his head.
"He won't leave the gym," Frank told me on that September day. "We have to chase him out at night."
When Knight had plantar fasciitis in the offseason, Frank had to confiscate Knight's sneakers so he couldn't sneak into the gym and play against doctor's orders.
"This kid will get every ounce out of his ability," Frank promised.
As the Los Angeles Clippers crushed the Pistons on Sunday, Knight did something that surprised no one within the franchise: Between DeAndre Jordan catching a lob and dunking on Detroit, Knight leaped and tried to stop him.

For this, he's a punch line now. He's a joke. For everyone celebrating Jordan's fantastic lob dunk over a guard some 8 inches shorter and 80 pounds lighter, they've made Knight an object of ridicule. A widely followed parody account of comedian Kevin Hart tweeted that Jordan had been brought up on "charges of rape & aggravated assault against Brandon Knight," and tombstones declaring Knight dead were popping up on the Internet.

Brandon Knight was giving up some 8 inches and 80 pounds to DeAndre Jordan. (AP)
The message is clear to players everywhere, on every level: Run away. Hide. Don't try to take the charge. Don't try to disrupt the play. There's no reward. This is how backward the basketball culture has become, how twisted the value system.
This time, it was Brandon Knight. A year ago, it was the Clippers' Blake Griffin dunking on Kendrick Perkins. As a center, Perkins is bigger, stronger, and that makes Griffin's dunk more impressive. They gave Perkins this treatment, too. Even now, he still comes back for more.
"If I was in the same position, in the same rotation, I'm going to jump again and again and again," Perkins told Yahoo! Sports' Marc Spears. "A lot of people are afraid of humiliation or don't know how to handle embarrassment or would even get embarrassed. I don't care.
"That's my job. How will my teammates look at me if next time I just back out of the way and just let him dunk when I'm supposed to be defensive-minded, a shot-blocker? That would be a coward move on me.
"He'd just have to dunk on me again."
Jordan made a spectacular play. No one will soon forget it. So congratulations and all. Jordan has a $43 million contract and yet still doesn't have one offensive move, an ability to score outside the paint. Yes, he can leap, dunk on little guys. And somehow that makes him an achiever in the sport now. After this, perhaps even a folk hero.

For Brandon Knight, who had the guts to stand in there, there were prominent people writing that he had been raped and assaulted and killed on Sunday night in Los Angeles. Eight inches shorter and 80 pounds lighter, Knight understood the right thing is seldom ever the most popular. Brandon Knight didn't run and hide, didn't spare himself the humiliation.
The culture of this sport has never been so backward, never so twisted. Hell of a dunk out of DeAndre Jordan, but maybe the wrong player gets the ovation.

Another weird fact is he's always getting hurt, and Rotoworld has the nerve to put that blurb on the page as if anyone has him. Is anybody running a Nolan Smith only league? I thought I'd ask you, because you'd be the guy to know.

You trying to smokescreen for another year where Kyrie still putting up bad year Arenas numbers on a losing team.

Coach K still hasn't produced a starter on a Champion team. Shit it's been like 35 years fam?

Austin Rivers shit the bed, you thought you was gonna have another player to root for. You don't.

You already bracing yourself for not winning a title and an early Tournament flame out. AGAIN.

You looking at your roster and you STILL have nobody else to root for. Sulaimon? Tell Quinn Cook what up.

You FURIOUS. And you hating what we do.

GOOD.

STAY FURIOUS.

And you're mad we take everything you want.

Not my fault.

I don't care.

Our players in the league are better than your players in the league. We got more. We got better.

Go ahead and claim the whole draft.

I don't care.

Who you got in this year's draft? Seth? C'mon fam. Why even walk down that road?

You KNOW what we do.

Maybe Jabari will pan out and you can have someone else to root for.

I'm not mad at the dunk on Brandon. My point all along has been, I don't care. It's a Center dunking on a point guard.

BK is probably gonna keep making the same play. Cuz that's how he plays.

i ain't gotta say what you mad about just like you ain't gotta tell me when wall gonna make good on his potential with some CONCRETE achievement...like an all-star game. you tried to make it about TEAM record during a lil 20 game stretch, HOPING that "playoffs" could save you...that tanked.

and it ain't like you don't like predicting stuff. you were predicted all kinds of stuff before UK's season started. told me i was scared and blazay blah. where all that is? and why can't you be that confident and obnoxious about wall's future? is he gonna be the best PG in the L? say so? i already know kyrie will be. i think we all do. so, i say so...a lot. you been church mousin about wall...cause you scared of being clowned NOW...and later.

just sayin, dogg...it ain't much to actually tell you why you mad. we all see it. and now we in here going at it because you caping because your guy (and ernie's) THE laughing stock of the basketball world for the second time in less than a month. it's simply not a good year for you.

and have some class when lillard wins ROY.

And on some broke record shit too.

We do this like every week. And I say the same thing. You keep talking about the All Star Game, I'm talking about John leading his team to the playoffs next year.

That shit irks you, cuz you have no faith in Kyrie doing the same for the Cavs. And you plan on seeking solace in waiting for more picks.

Loved Tristan.

Now blame Tristan.

Cried for Jeremy Lamb.

Cried now for Waiters.

Nah, you think Kyrie will be. And you plan on bludgeoning everyone over the head until they believe it.

Nobody ever will though.

And another year on one of the worst teams in hoops ain't gonna help your case.

John Wall's gonna be one of the top 5 pgs in the game. The list will be fluid, because there are A LOT of pgs and a lot of them are young. Rondo, Rose, Westbrook ain't going nowhere. And neither is Tony or CP3 or D-Will. Wall will force his way into that list.

I'm far from catching feelings about THIS. Players get dunked on. It happens. Centers are supposed to dunk on point guards. And that type of shit will happen to Brandon, cuz he tries really hard and stays on some Superman shit. Whether it's launching 3's or trying to do some unbelievable feat of athleticism that's probably impossible.

>and have some class when lillard wins ROY.

Still reaching? Why would I react any other way? I laid that out for you MONTHS ago. And your hurt feelings has you digging it up again.

I still talk about Wall's individual potential. I told you what I see his averages being. I know the accolades won't come unless the team is winning. Nobody cares about dudes putting up stats on garbage teams.

Your MAD cuz Austin Rivers sucks. You thought you was gonna have somebody else to check for. You don't.

Now if I was you, I'd still be confident in my players.

You're not though. Cuz well...Austin has been pretty underwhelming since going to Duke.

Me on the other hand, I can sit and wait for Terrence, Enes, BK, Doron, Marques, MKG, all of them. I got time.

We can wait.

Long careers ahead of all my dudes.

You hate me cuz I rock with a team of niggaz.

And there's gonna be more on the way....2013, 2014, 2015.

It's a Sea of Blue.

You just keep alternating saying "i'm sad" or "mad" like you're righting a Children's book on Sports Agendas.

It's weird and lame.

for which this thread serves as a stark reminder.

let this post, along with BK's misguided attempt to intercept a lob pass while trying to block a seven-footer's dunk try simultaneously and the late great John Belushi's tragically early demise provide you with all the foreboding evidence you need of the dangers involved when crossing streams.

If you ever see me in the future traveling down this this 'raggy road'(c)Capelton, please do me a favor & run me off it for my own good.

paul was running towards the corner, and threw a jumping, overhead lob, as Jordan came streaking towards the basket. He jumped, caught it outside the circle, and threw it down from above the rim.

Knight being there is just the icing on the cake, this woulda been a top 10 highlight without him.
