Always played with class and always gave it his all.
I've enjoyed watching dude play, even though he was a Chief for most of his career.
From busting Tim Thomas's ass while at Cal to dunking the football through the field goal post to celebrate scores.
I'm glad I got to watch him do his thing.
I didn't get to watch the game, so I don't know how much this was covered. But it was probably overshadowed due to Tony's lack of dance and motivational speech giving skills.

I mean let's not make Gonzalez out to be Ditka here just because of that. But yeah, I will really miss watching him, it's just insane how long he lasted and at a high level.

They mentioned his contributions to the game and likely impending retirement during the broadcast a few times, as well. Most of it was centered around how well he was playing vis a vis his age and how he could stick around if he wanted to.

I am a bit of an old school guy when it comes to tight ends but guys like Gonzalez and Antonio Gates were so much fun to watch. I remember him as a an energy guy for Cal playing hoops, too, plus his halfassed tryout with the Heat. He always seemed like he was cool with the fans and very even tempered.
