"i WISH kyrie could stat pad and lose like these other niggas"

but, he just so damn good his play actually results in wins for a team that has no business winning.

it's like grant hill taking terry mills and otis thorpe and lindsey and old ass dumars to the playoffs every year.

UGH...i hope these muhfuckas don't make the playoffs. kyrie need weapons to pad his dime totals...since people seem to like dimes.

He is not getting in .. they already had this debate on ESPN.

The whole point of being great is being able to deal with injures and
physical issues, but still playing at a high level, and not regressing

His chances are borderline at best.. He won't get Gale Sayer'd

and Vince is getting in easily ..he changed the game and had a bigger impact on the game than Hill

Nah...Basketball of Fame includes both college and pro impact...Hell, they even include players who played in the overseas and pros (Sabonis' best years were overseas...yet he made it to the HOF...)

Not just pros, homie....Before those injuries, Hill was a top 3 player in the league...

Just saying...

Yes...Top 3...The year (96-97) he LED the league in triple doubles and averaged 21.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.8 steals...

This^^^ was the year he came in THIRD in MVP voting to Malone and MJ...

And then there's the year dude went nuts and averaged 25.8 points, shot 49% from the field (3rd in scoring behind Shaquille O'Neal and AI). And for shits and giggles snagged 6.6 rebounds and 5.2 dimes a game...

HOF voters will take in account his greatness in college and the fact that dude was an elite player in the NBA who had his career chipped away from him by injuries...

Again, I don't know how I'm talking crazy....But don't let the facts get in the way....

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

being in the top 3 of some statistical categories does not mean you are one of the 3 best players in the entire league. do you even remember who was in the league those years? grant played on some really shitty teams and put up some great stats but no one would have considered him one of the 3 best players in the entire league from 1994-2000.

and at duke he was only "the man" his final year.

I'm saying that for at least two years in his career he was a guy that could have been MVP of the league...He was viewed as an elite player before injuries made his career up and down...I showed the MVP voting and the numbers...It's all there...

As for his college years, trust me when I say I hated Duke with every part of my soul...lol...HATED....But Grant Hill was a GREAT college player...And he led his team to a championship after losing Hurley and asshole Lathener (in addition to the one he got when he was just 3rd best player on that team)...

So, yeah...Hill will be a Hall of Famer...U can book it...It's more than just about stats and such...It's about your impact, talents, and how you were regarded amongst your peers...And people love/loved that kid when he got to the pros...

It's the entire picture....

i didnt realize 3rd place in an mvp vote when you are simply putting up numbers on a shitty team meant so much but whatever. and you should already know that "most valuable" does not always equal best, but again, whatever.

Unfortunately, you're wrong again...But hey, it happens to the best of us...

Hill's 3rd place MVP showing was the same season he led his team to a 54 win season and a 3rd seeding in the Central....I didn't know winning 54 games constitutes as "shitty"...But,hey, different strokes...

And in the year he was dropping 26 a game and went nuts, he literally carried his team to the playoffs again...I'll be the first to say that injuries took much away from his career...But between his championship college years, his international play (dude was one of the stars of that team that got a gold medal, remember?) and his rookie of the year award, 7 all-stars, and good-will in the pro years, he will be getting a nod..

But...whatever...

I was just correcting your post about dude putting up numbers on shitty teams...It was simply incorrect...

As for sustained greatness, that's Hill's entire career, not just the pros...

The basketball hall of fame is not just about the Pros...U know that, right?

They take in account EVERYTHING....It's the same reason they put in guys that weren't even the best on their teams but had GREAT college careers and all-star years...It's the reason why Sabonis (again) got in the HOF off of his international play...

It just so happens that Hill has enough pro impact (dude was POPULAR, has a gold medal, and put up crazy numbers and, when healthy, led his team to the playoffs...) that it helps him even more...

The complete career? Sure, he gets in....It's not always JUST about the pro-career...

When you lead your team to a college championship, won another as an important wing player, won ACC player of the year, and consensus all-American first team, that's a "college" hall of fame to anyone with sense or no agenda or hate...

As for the Dicky V stuff, that's just some classic goal post moving...lol

If someone points out to you a players awards, numbers, ect...And the fact that said institution awards more than just professional play and that everything from college to international play (gold medal) was taken into account, I don't know what else needs to be said..

Other than your hate for all Duke players, a sentiment that I do share, but to a point (Deng is my boy...), I don't know what else to say...

Bullshit? lol...Come on man...U were pulling shit out of your ass, such as that whole Hill putting up numbers for bad teams thing...

And on Duke championship, touche, homie....U r correct...

But dude leading his squad to another championship (after winning one) without Hurley and the asshole cannot be dismissed...

All said, we can agree to disagree on this one...

He's not going into the Naismith. The days of putting guys in there for college only are over.

Not to mention, there's doubt he'll even make the Collegiate Hall.

what yall don't see in your box score hawking is that he is taking leadership of this cavs squad

the team needs his leading ability on the floor in important moments of the game

and he'll get assists if that's what the defense gives him, he just needs to keep making the right decisions

kid is good and keeps improving, and the team is winning

that's all that should matter

He doesn't play "Bulldoze/SPEED Ball" either (like my man Lawson). In a way, I think there's a certain humility to this game. Only reason his dimes aren't as high as they could be is because a lot of the dudes (Asspi mostly) are straight up bricking the shit when he gets them the ball.

I think the Baron Blocko comparos are being made because of the effect Kyrie has on the team when he's in. Last season, when Baron was in, it was like the entire mood of the team changed. The offense was going somewhere (i.e. it wasn't being filtered through one or two people all day).

I wasn't expecting Kyrie to come in and do what he's doing. Basa (and some other Cavs fans on a site I read) are making the more accurate take on him IMO, "he's taking it back to Zeke".

Even though it's true. Dude is tough, his jumper from mid-range out is strong. He gets to the hoop with that deception and those odd angles and the nigga does not like this losing shit.

Byron stays getting on him hard too because he knows that Kyrie can take it and will respond. At the end of last nights game Byrons was dapping niggas up and acting real happy until Kyrie came over. Then that demeanor changed and he clearly was talking to him about his D. Cause that's the point, getting better and winning more and more.

While I know that's not appealing to Basa for a number of reasons, it should excite the hell out of Cleveland fans that he's putting up those stats considering Irving has played less college/summer league than anyone else currently in the NBA.

lol @ anyone who calls him shoot-first. They just haven't watched him play. Granted, he's only played 18 NCAA/NBA games combined, so not a lot of opportunities and not a lot of desire for non-Duke, non-Cleveland fans to go out of their way to tune in. But it's true.

But RIGHT today, he's got 2 more wins with Tristan Thompson and Alonzo Gee than Rubio does with Kevin Love & Derrick Williams

Just sayin'...he's gotta be doing SOMETHING (and I'm a certified Duke hater)

When you get a Duke hater to say such a thing, that's real...

I'm just more impressed that Kyrie and Rubio are both under 22...SCARY.....Shit, people in here trying to dissect Kyrie's game...and the kid is only 19...Absurd...

I don't know anything about the agendas that's attached to this debate...All I know is with those two kids u can't lose...They are both going to be good for years to come....

I'm STILL not sold on Rubio just yet. Kyrie's got nowhere near as much talent, so I'll give him space. But Rubio reminds me of a Jose Calderon right now...good player, but not the next great PG that people are cysing him up to be. Maybe because I think Minny should be winning more with that much more talent.
But he's not as bad as I thought he'd be either

With Kyrie, I figured that since he missed so much time at Duke with the injury, add the lockout, and he might take a lot longer to adjust to the pros. But he's been ready since high school, so he fit in a lot quicker. The fact that the team trusts him as a leader ALREADY is a good sign

Personally, it's just funny to me watching the PGWarz get broken down, and some really off the wall comparisons.

Nah...I'm sold on Rubio...While I don't think dude is going to be the end all to be all like some folks, his passing skills leads me to believe that he can at least be GOOD for years to come...And his outside shot is better than expected...So he's looking more than promising...

And hating on a 19 year old PG who is already getting major tick and responsibility on his team is just about the stupidest thing anyone can do...So we agree on Kyrie having a bring future...

To me, the PG Warz should only be reserved for the the players that are under Rose and CP3 at the moment and the likes of Kyrie and Rubio...

Because we all know who won the Warz last year and so far this year...

Like wack-ass Antawn and non-finishing ass Samardo Samuels and Omri Casspi aren't deflating his assists.

He scorched Nash, which is like a rite of passage for young guards. The matchups have been in his favor thus far, especially cause he's learning to defend at an nba level. Niggas stay putting him on skates with shown picks and shit.

I'm happy though. Those niggas that tried to pump up Williams/Knight look dumb as shit. Tristan is actually trying to be a 4 unlike Williams and while Knight can shoot...that nigga has no inherent pg mind. He's on that sequential shit. 1) look for shot, 2) rub off pick 3) look at roll man 4) look for shot again.

You're right though, I can see him fucking up the draft pick and leaving us with wack-ass baby-Joe Johnson from UNC or something. It's Ant Davis, MKG or bust from this draft group. I like Perry Jones and Quincy Miller but it's hard to see what they can do on that team full of bammas led by the least-coachingest motherfucker in the country.

I do NOT want this team to do anything but tank. Kyrie's effect on the team (not as a scorer but as a facilitator) might fuck around and get the team out of the damn lottery.

Few teams not named the Lakers get a do-over so soon.

Cavs have a PG so it really doesn't matter, to me, if Barens "can't get his own shot" or "can't dribble" He's going to get gettin fed by Kyrie, that shit will make him look like Durant lite.

If he works hard he could be what Lu is. They kinda have the same skill set. Barnes doesn't have as much bball iq or defensive prowess. Barnes is a ill more athletic and has a better mid range and long range shot at the same stage but right today deng is a better shooter from both ranges.

I could see him working well with Kyrie if Byron coach 'em up and with both Kyrie and Tristan there they won't have to depend on Barnes to score. But lamb (the uconn one) is prolly a better fit for their future.

barnes aint even 21 yet and he is already a better pure shooter than deng from any range. deng has always had a hitch in his jumper and a slow release. i dont know why we would be comparing the two right now though. if anything you can say barnes projects to be a better version of deng but comparing them now is silly because deng has way more experience.

Joe Johnson...legit 6'7? Yep

Joe Johnson..bout 225-230 and bullying wings down low in his prime? yep

Joe Johnson... that good lateral quickness that had him getting the wing scorer matchups in Phoenix and Atlanta so Marion and Josh Smith could block shots from the weakside? yep

Oh so all that shit you're pumping up about Harrison is done better by Joe? Yep.

And nigga perfect 3's in the league can handle and create their own shot. Either with athleticism (Rudy, Bron, KD, etc) or craftiness (Pierce, Melo, etc). Harrison can't get his shot off clean against the one NBA-level 3 he's faced. So what the fuck are you on? And for all that defense shit he stays getting his shit pushed back when the comp gets heavy. Stop being mad, loud and wrong and shit. Harrison'll be aight without you advocating. Nigga will show up, try to look real smooth and put up 16-18 for a decade but shit'll be mildly inefficient and he won't bring enough else to the table to swing wins.

so there is no point in trying to compare the two of them.

secondly, barns game in the nba will be mostly catch and shoot threes, one dribble mid range pull ups, finishing on the break, and playing good D. he is not a superstar, he is a complementary player like deng or r. jefferson w/o hops.

barns problem right now is that he has too many people in his head telling him what he needs to showcase for the next level instead of doing what he is good at right now to win games. he is trying to dribble penetrate too much and get to the line when he should be just taking what the defense gives him.

Dog, wings are wings. You're exposing yourself right now. In many situations the only designation between a 2/3 is who you guard. But I'll entertain it;

From 08-09;
http://www.peachtreehoops.com/2009/5/26/888822/state-of-the-hawks-joe-johnson
"Of those most used five man rotations, number 3, 8, and 10 had Joe Johnson playing with Flip Murray and Mike Bibby. Therefore, Joe Johnson played the Joe Johnson position against small forwards."

From this year;
http://nba-point-forward.si.com/2011/11/21/is-shifting-johnson-to-sf-the-answer-for-hawks/
"The Hawks used 24 different lineups (minimum: 10 minutes played) that featured Johnson as the small forward in the regular season, according to Basketball Value. (Note: Johnson is listed as three inches taller and five pounds heavier than Maurice Evans, so we’re counting Johnson as the nominal “small forward” and Evans as the “shooting guard” in lineups in which they shared the wing)."

The specific prositional data doesn't exist for Phoenix but you can see a lot of minutes given to Richardson and Jimmy Jackson here; http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/PHO/2005.html. Joe was guarding 3's there too.

I know it's not the okp thing to do to admit when you're wrong but I don't know what else you fucking want. I'm sure you'll find a way to bullshit your way out of it.

And the majority of Joe's shots have been mid-to-long 2's and 3's. The same shit you're saying Harrison Barnes needs to focus on. I'm saying that in the league those closeouts are coming faster and harder and it'll be harder to get his shot off. Even with a potentially all-star level PG like kyrie he'll have to get his handle right and develop counter moves. ~70-80% of Joe Johnson's 3's are assisted. If Barnes is going to be the scorer a struggling team needs he's not going to get more assisted long buckets than that.

http://hoopdata.com/player.aspx?name=Joe%20Johnson

He won't get to the hoop like RJ, he won't finish like RJ, he won't defend like Deng or finish at the rim (67%) like Deng. Deng and Iso-Joe are his best comps and to the original point, I don't see him being as valuable as either of them. He'll prob play like 15 years in the league but I don't see him giving a team that needs athleticism and creative scoring on the wing a real boost like that. So you arguing hard and agreeing with me on that.

but thanks for tryna sneak one in like you always do. you were a doubter/hater too, you perpetual fence-straddler. you tryna get in a shot in april, like the coast clear. stats shot up, 6th youngest all-star and was the star of AS weekend. extremely successful second season. y'all dudes so mad it's incredible.

worry about fancy-average and his streak shooting, and how he's continuing to adjust to people playing him for the pass now. calderon II.

dog knowbody wants to hear that shit they suck with him and they suck without him unlike Wall the Wizards were 5 and 28 without that nigga and are like 5 games above .500 with him that is fucking incredible and everything is similar and the cavs might have a lil better squad and smarter coaching.

Next yr that Kyrie bridge will be done when the media starts shitting on him for being brittle injury plagued stat-getting bitch

What I'd like to have right now is for all you fat, out of shape, small dick niggas to keep the noise down while I take my robe off and show all the ladies what a real man is supposed to look like (C) Ravishing Rick Rude

this year, he was an all-star and wall got fried all over the place and tried to redeem himself with a solid month.

good year for my side. see y'all next year.

by the way...wall "brittle" too. but he so far below expectations, no one even notices how many games he's missed in his career because they still waiting on him to play like someone you'd actually miss if he were injured.

b-ball fans missed kyrie when he's gone. no one cared about wall.

nothing gonna obscure the fact that you thought brandon knight was gonna be better and have subsequently taken EVERY opening you've had in the last two season to suggest that that is still a possibility in the face of MONUMENTAL statistical and empirical evidence to the contrary.

you've finally exposed yourself and i have something to fry you with. you should have remained a sneaky bitch and not let my brandon knight digs affect you. but, they did.

yeah, you did. furthermore, it don't even matter, honestly. i'mma KEEP saying this what you thought because you should kept your fuckin mouth shut instead of being a bitch and tryna get in lil pro-knight digs in threads that had nothing to do with you.
