"Mulaney (Fox)"

What a disaster. I like John Mulaney's standup but this was tough to get through. They are going for Seinfeld, but his line readings makes even early Seinfeld look like Daniel day Lewis.

Laugh track is awful, but I don't think it would make much difference if they got rid of it

If you're familiar with his last comedy album, it's fucking painful to listen to the jokes when they're edited for TV.

I hope this is like Mulaney's "Lucky Louie".

If it survives it's going to have to change like New Girl did.

Tonight's episode was basically re-purposed stand up routines and Martin Short.

I like Mulaney. I like Martin Short. I like Nasim Pedrad.

Hope it gets better and sticks around.

Sure, Seinfeld was a bad actor but at least his stand up felt real. Mulaney did HIS JOKES that have worked in specials and yet felt inauthentic.

Terrible.

He's big but not "everyone has seen his comedy special" big. The Fox audience who tuned in just casually hadn't seen that special - and that's way more people than the number of people who watched his special.

this shit was atrocious.

I'm betting The McCarthys won't make it either (CBS)

which is fine by me because Laurie Metcalf needs to be on GETTING ON (HBO) where she belongs...

when i saw the reviews i was like "awwww, don't call it bad seinfeld. can't it just be its own thing?" but it really is just bad seinfeld, with boring and unbelievable versions of each character. and it is WAY too based in his stand-up.

I ride for dude’s standup, but this is awful, awful, awful. It’s a very poor effort.

He’s a fantastic standup but they tried to shoehorn that style into this a little too directly. A lot of the joke premises could have been played out to good effect instead of forcing standup jokes into dialogue the way they did.
