ANOTHER superhero series - this one based on the comic by Robert Kirkman.
Ep 1 had a little too much whiny/emo stuff about someone who is expecting powers but doesn't yet have them and is in high school - but by the end of the post credit screen I was intrigued.
Stay for the ENTIRE episode 1 -including post credits- and you might be in for the series.
The Guardians of the Globe are voiced by the cast of the Walking Dead.
More voices by Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh ,J. K. Simmons,Zachary Quinto, Gillian Jacobs, Jason Mantzoukas ,Khary Payton, Walton Goggins, Reginald VelJohnson , Seth Rogen, Mark Hamill and a ton more.

It has a very anime look and feel to it, but it's not terrible.
As a reader of the entire comic, I loved the first 3 eps and they do truncate the story so the show moves quick enough to keep people watching in its 42-60 minute run time.
I don't even want to talk about how amazing the voice talent is for this show.
Show gets a 11.5 out of 10 for me because I've been waiting for Invincible to be adapted and this came through.

Never read the comics but I figured that either the Dad was gonna turn evil or be killed to motivate the son going forward, cause 45 minutes of “when am I gonna get my powers?!” was pretty grating. I still think this might be better with 25-30 min episodes, but I’m intrigued enough to watch through this season at least. The voice cast is very good.

but the show is different from Preacher, Kirkman was deeply involved with it's creation and you can see that here. I think Rogen and Crew just stuck to the producing side this round

never read the comics, but this show on its own is really really good so far (4 eps in). right now its our 'go to' series.
really diggin it and, in spite of the fact that this 'kind of show/world' has been seen in some other shows before, this one still is fresh in many ways and manages to surprise me often. some really great voice acting going on in it too.

i cannot wait to find out OmniMan's reasons for all of this and where it's about to go. He got that Homelander energy where everything he does has you on edge but he's actually competent and mentally stable

yep...
im trying to stay offline as much as possible in order to avoid potentially seeing any spoilers to the above...but i, like you, am just wondering whats was/is goin as far as that goes...(dont wanna say more about it than that lol
but yeah, the way they're telling the story, and letting it unfold for us, is very very well done imo...keeps me guessing and often surprised...

that was legit horrifying man. took his son an an asswhooping murder spree tour of the world. called his momma a pet. had the whole ocean to aim for but nah straight thru the cruise ship.
my god Invincible is everything superhero media has been missing for me. true malice and practicality from its characters but also a DEEP DEEP reverence for the media/artform. The Boys can get a bit "haha comic books" at times

...wife and i were actually ANXIOUS before hitting play on the remote for this ep. Up to this point, this show has surprised us and shown us that it is NOT afraid to be honest and take legit chances in a variety of ways....so we KNEW going in we could expect the unexpected....
but DANG....even KNOWING that going in, as we watched the episode we were STILL all 'mouth agape' and "Holy #@!!! Horrified, Crushed, Amazed...
heard it just got renewed for 2 more seasons. I hope folks dont sleep on this show....i thought this was gonna be just an animated version of "The Boys" (which is a show i dug the hell out of too)....but nope, while there may be some 'surface level' similarities, THIS show is something ELSE. i absolutely LOVE it.

You're just able to do so much more in that medium.
This was the episode that I was waiting for the most cause I knew it was going to go hard. The met my expectations plus, I just can't wait for this series to keep going cause the comic goods sooo much better. I'm just curious how far they will go with some of the storyline.

i think the highlight of the first ep for me is the Angstrom Levy backstory. nice play on the Council of Reeds x evil supergenius trope
i read in the comic book he just hates Mark off the rip but this was a good flip on it. on one hand he made his own mess out of good intentions, but on the other hand he actually does have a reason to hate mark now that he's burdened w/ all the memories of his other selves. unique take
also seeing Mark and Omniman be full evil on some Mortal Kombat shit was fun.
show continues to remain clear of all current movie/TV media by some distance. it's in that DCAU level

show via Angstrom fucked up brain some of the shit that has happened in other timeline. this gives us potential for some wild scenes/sequences. but the stakes in the main universe will remain the focus

A return to form. I was worried it somehow wouldn't be as good, but nah, this angstrom cat seems really cool, and it's kind of fucked up that his goal has changed, because what he was working on sounded AMAZING.
Oh, and evil mark. FUCK!
Omni man was like, yo I missed lunch, let's eat! Mark is like, yeah, let me kill these mfs first, then we out.
