What are some cases you can think of where one rapper one the lyrical/wax battle, but the other won in other ways? Whether it's career longevity, or finances (Eazy still getting paid off Dre)

Canibus let the internet (in fucken 1998 think abou that) and his fucken pride diss a legend with connections and depth. He should have keep his mouth shut and did that mixape track with LL and keep it moving..instead of he won the battle but he lost the fucken war...hook up with wycelf (another wtf??) got backlisted, drop a fucken dud and was never the same.
His carrer could have took a whole different track if he would have took LL advice instead of getting hype up by some usernames and pride.
Now he is a fucken running joke and I think directly responsible for the fall of NY and its lyrical rap in the rap game. folks was running from the rappity rappity methaphorical mcs after canibus and it let the more hook/beat true life oriented south come and take over.
HE just didn't lost HIS war...he help his whole region lose the damn war.
50 killed him in the battle leaking the correction officer shit, the skits fucking his baby momma..
but in the war it just showed how tired 50 and his antics had became..he acutally made rick ross more famous and 50 was the Ja Rule in this situation folks had finally got tired of that shit. Rick ross became the underdog who stood up to 50 and came out better than he once was.
Now Rick ross and MMG poppin and 50 out here tryin to make ole YMCB folks blow up.
I don't care for either kats but it seems like Rick Ross is winning even though when he first came out nobody was rooting for him but now everyone is loving dude's music unlike 50 Cent who's music just went downhill and only does average on his mix-cd albums and terrible on his retail releases.
Also Rick Ross needs to keep his cot-damn shirt on, tired of passing by a magazine rack or seeing a mix-cd cover and his damn tatted gut & man-boobs popped out, I'm a big boy too but damn have some respect for yourself mane.

I still can't figure out what the "dis" was in "Funeral Music"
the best dis he gave Cam was an ad-lib at the end of a Young Buck song ("said you got IBS, nigga you got A-I-D-S!!!")
that "Curtis" song was an all-out clowning. Then came the video, which took it to another level. He even used that picture of 50 from the Internet with the buckteeth... LOL

Battles are always temporary in hip-hop, especially since careers are so short. If you really buy into this line of thinking, then Jay-Z won every "war", Snoop won every "war", Dre won every "war", etc.. it's just a list of who has had sustained commercial success. Or it's a Forbes hip-hop list. Is that really what these battles were about in the first place? 50 Cent didn't win the battle with Rick Ross just because he did all that exposing. In the end he hurt himself more by pushing the issue so much that people started to get annoyed by his antics. Rick Ross has been fake from the beginning, so his credibility didn't suffer much. And 50's baby mother has gone harder to get under 50's skin than Ross's baby mother did.

Ross calling Curtis a "munkee" & "woodface" is still hilarious. Plus he called Eminem a "hunkee" hahahaha. Calling Maserati Fox (one of 50's flunkies) "Mazda Cox" was also hilarious. And yeah Ross "Special Delivery" video was also high comedy. I'mma say Ross won the beef rap and entertainment wise. "Officer Ricky" had a hot beat though.

Rick Ross vs 50 Cent? ehh we remember the antics and side comments. It wasn't much of a rap battle, as a fan of rap music I'd say it wasn't anything memorable.

Personally I see it as LL winning the war with Kool Moe Dee and Hammer, but with Ice T., LL won the battles but lost the war cause Ice T. is more respected as an actor than LL and still considered a legend on the west coast unlike on the east coast most treat him as a sell-out musically and a lame actor.

LL's disses were basically 'I have more money and women than you' that might float today, but in that era? not so much Mo Dee's disses were much more personal and better written, and the only reason people don't remember it that way is because of LL's personality and status at the time (Mo Dee was ten years in-when there was no music industry-at that time, LL was the new jack still proving himself)

The CO stuff didn't matter at the end of the day and it's not as if he was the one to break it. His snaps were about Ross's baby momma and other childish nonsense that fell on deaf ears, etc...it was his 'Superugly' disses that made HIM look inferior and not his competition.
All things considered (lack of rap skills, lack of a true pop hit, etc) Ross is doing GREAT in 2012...he's still a multimillionaire making Forbe's top 20 richest rappers(higher then 50 btw in 2012)

Not necessarily. 50 has been fucking whining his ass off over 5 mixtapes about how he's mad people think he's fallen off, it's not as if when 50 when after Ja-Rule all those residuals he was getting disappeared(or collabs with pop stars who were huge at the time like J-Lo). While someone looking at long money might rather be 50 then Rick Ross, Rick Ross is definately Even with 'God Forgives' flopping, people are still clamoring for Rick Ross verses and collabs. Who would want to do a song with 50 in 2012? LOL.
They all went from selling platinum records to flopping. Game singlehanded my waged a three year war on their whole crew. He had DVDs and clothing. Lloyd Blanks was never the same. Ditto for Yayo and Buck. None of them amounted to much after that. Meanwhile Game still putting out albums.

50 Cent and G-Unit undoubtedly fell off, though I don't know if I would say that Game was the reason for it. I think his relentless nature did help sustain his own fan base around that time, but I think Game essentially threw a hell of a grenade on a ship that was already sinking.
