"Is "Bigger than Hip Hop" the origin of Dubstep?"

I am at a club right now where they played this song right after a Dubstep set, and I never thought about it, but this song sounds like it damn near inspired the whole genre. I know Timbo (joked? And) said he invented Dubstep, and his old late 90's bouncy tracks do sound like they may have had some influence, but Dead Prez's track sounds even more like it.

Who knows, maybe I'm trippin

id say stuff like this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Wt1nvsoKno

speed garage / breakbeat techno / old school jungle / etc all helped evolve garage / 2 step which gave the offspring of dubstep, just an opinion of course

To people like US, a record is a piece of history. A moment in time.
Most people don't get it.

Seems like it could have evolved into Dubstep, but the elements were different from what I remember.

but to me dubstep sounded like a slowed down version of jungle. same heavy bass, but at times lower bpms

not sure why dubstep has been in the spotlight so much more than other similar genres

the original styles of Kode9, The Bug and them are undeniably 2-step rooted and bear almost no resemblance to what the majority of folks call dubstep today.

shit

it WAS very different than most shit dropping at the same time

especially as a new york record

but I think that was the point

they were trying to get cats crunk for the revolution lol

so they used a ride-out bassline with some crunk ass drums

I think the similarities to dubstep end there cause dubstep isn't really danceable in the same way

I agree that it has more in line with the energy it's trying to build with jungle, and drum n bass

which are predecessors of dubstep
