Really really bad distortion. Blu has worse ears than a retired jackhammer operator. Distortion in a bad way, not the cool way. UCLA was actually not too bad, but in comparison, this is like he recorded it with a laptop mic through broken Coby earbuds.
i've had 2 or 3 these remixes from the producers for a while now & their demo versions sounded infinitely clearer than these
the vocals on NoYork! were recorded pretty well, so everyone had clean shit to work w/ Blu went out of his way to make them sound like this, so hes obviously tryna make a statement or stylistic choice w/ it
not defending it, jussaying... its not a matter of recording quality, limited resources, etc.
its Blu. its like... tragically funny at this point.
there's very little actual rules these days, & he's leading by extreme example in that regard.
can't speak for Jeed, but my only concern would be someone hearing that track as it was released & assume that was Waajeed's best effort or how he wanted it presented when that of course is not the case
but hopefully that's obvious if you've heard Jeed's other work tho. he never halfsteps when it comes to remixes, or anything he puts his name on for that matter.
