"So, Jesse Johnson is splitting from the Original 7even, eh ? "

From his Facebook status:

Jesse Johnson

I don't really think I'll be performing with the Original any more! We simple don't see eye to eye on anything. Love the guys, but I feel in my heart it's "Time" to walk away while we're all still friends. Peace be with you all and them all. PeaceLove Jesse Johnson

Damn, what happen ? Are they really not getting along ?

to go their way (songs to be arranged/constructed/produced/mixed according to their musicial ideas). This usually leads to people quitting/bands breaking up.

The sad reality of bands. Talented people REALLY want to "stick to their guns" about creative issues.

It's no wonder P didn't fuck with him the same way he did a lot of those under his thumb... Jesse has always been somewhat of a loose cannon. And like P, Jesse can make rash decisions that don't seem all that well thought out.

isn't it well known Jesse was carried off stage and covered in food in the infamous Revolution vs. Time food fight?

I'd hate to think how Prince handled err'body else if that's what Jesse got.

Maybe that was the start of Jesse's problems with the whole thing.

P ganked two songs of his and gave him "credit" on the label for other unrelated ones...

but yeah, I think Jesse didn't get the worst of it (Jimmy Jam reportedly did, out of that bunch), because he threatened Prince a lil bit; Morris was the one who found him out in Rock Island, he didn't even play anything for Prince to get in the band, then it turned out he was a monster on the axe...

and you know that a dude looking like Jesse, with his general demeanor, playing the guitar like that in that era, probably was pissin' off Prince on the low for other reasons... LOL

Sucks, particularly since the album was one of my favorites from the year & I really looked forward to seeing the OG7 onstage together in person for the first time.

But even for an indie it sorta went under the radar (P's not letting use the name was an obvious factor as well) considering they'd finally done their own album for the first time in well....ever together & it did like 7K out the gate (which is probably lower than any did on their own).

It's a shame but I think that had an impact on the group's future for sure.

It's tough to get seven vets on the same page anyway but without a financial incentive it might not be feasible.

I for one love the shit out of this album almost as much as I do anything they've done.

Some of us are born alone, live alone, and when the time comes die alone! I've always and always will be a fucking loner. Not ALONE, but a loner, a lover of solitude. I really isn't that serious and we have Way More Important Pressing matters in the World to be concerned about.
LovePeace,
Jesse Johnson

It is really me Jesse Johnson formerly of a few fucking bands. But I understand, there are so many pretenders, but it's really me. I feel really bad for thevpeople who were looking forward to seeing me with The Time or whoever, but you will see and hear me especially hear me forever! Music never dies, people do. Please excuse my spelling here and there I'm typing with one finger on my iPad.
LoovePeace,
Jesse Johnson Bey ♥ (Birth name, I rarely use it in the entertainment world)

In response to Reply # 11

more hit than miss, especially in the beginning.
He came fresh off the Time and basically proved through his own works, and other acts he produced... that he wasn't just some guy holding a guitar for Prince. His music wasn't as deep as Prince's, but it definitely satisified the ears of fans who wanted Prince to at least throw them a bone on the R&B side of things.

I liked his last album, which came out last year, called Verbal Penetration. He hadn't released anything in like ... 14 years before that. Like most double albums it does tend to have some filler, but his D'Angelo-like tunes and his brief foray into jazz guitar were surprising to hear.

I think if that last album came out in the "Voodoo" era he definitely would have shocked a lot of people.

He's always been jealous of Prince's success, control, and power.

Is he a talented guitarist? Yes... but quite honestly a limited songwriter by comparison to Prince. A good one, has a lane and a pocket - but he never compared to Prince. The first two Time albums alone prove that.

To me, he's being the typical opportunist. The album didn't do well - there was no follow up tour (why I'm not sure) and honestly what was he comitted to? A few shows here and there? That being said, bounce while the iron is slightly hot again. Seems like a sellout move to me.

He knew he had a solo record coming and then the whole D thing - which honestly isn't a good look. D needs to develop his own sound a little further - borrowing from the Minneapolis sound? I dunno.
Not a good idea. I always thought Pino was a poor choice in a bassist, he's good, he just has no identifiable chops or touch. Anyone could play his parts.

Everyone else was chilling and seemed to be happy to be back together but Jesse was looking somewhere between angry and bored. Didn't he get kicked out of the group after they recorded Pandemonium? Maybe his personality is just too difficult to work with for an extended period.

for a second there there was a bit of a celebration of his work in the 80's...

he's always had a chip on his shoulder

he's always felt as if he deserved more, that he could have had a similar if not better solor career than prince...

but Jessie is in dreamland.

He's a great guitarist no doubt.
You can tell he was trying to overpower the band in some of the more recent shows as he was the star attraction as much as Morris was and as a result the shows were very heavily guitar driven.

He's one of the major cogs in why The Time worked... people weren't used to seeing regular looking brothers shredding the axe like he did when they came out.

I've read this from other places as well but can't recall a direct quote from him putting himself on the same level as Prince.

Jesse had a solid solo career. I was pleasantly surprised with Verbal Penetration. I've always thought he was very underrated as a guitarist. Loved the way he brought Sly back on "Crazay." But Prince smokes him when it comes to songwriting, sonic diversity, singing and overall vision.

Hell, I still remember buying the "Love Struck" single and the clerk said "dude is trying to be Prince."

If Terry, Jimmy and Morris, who all had more success than Jesse, could put their egos aside and do this project I'm not sure why Jesse feels he should be running things.

I'm not sure Jesse has had consistent work. Did Jesse have more hits in the 80s? I'm not sure. Plus I admit I'm factoring in Day's Hollywood/acting gigs. Not that they were blockbusters but it was enough to keep his name out there.

Not sure where these all charted but as far as "money" cuts Jesse had more

Morris: Oaktree, The Character, Color of Success, Fishnet & Love Is a Game

Jesse: Be Your Man, Free World, I Want My Girl, Can U Help Me, Baby Let's Kiss, Crazay, Love Struck, She I Can't Resist, Every Shade Of Love, I'm Just Wanting You.

Plus Jesse has those side projects like Da Krash Tamara and The Seen and other production work with Janet, Paula Abdul and Cheryl Lynn.

> Plus I admit I'm factoring

Jesse did some soundtrack work around this same time... Pretty In Pink, Action Jackson, Another 48, The Breakfast Club.. might be a few more I can't remember right now.

But yeah man overall I'd have much rather have Jesse's career.

What a punk...

The guy's nothing more than a guitarist in a band...

He isn't a strong composer, his lyrics are silly and he's got zero charisma on stage...

It's obvious that he is still pissed that he didn't blow up...

I hope the man sorts all of these issues out - artists need an EAP.

of The Time up in here (the Lesson)

Now y'all hate his guts?

You know Jam & Lewis getting the lion share of whatever was coming off of the album "Condensate"

the Tonight Show just ain't what it used to be anymore.
But guess what? They did it. Jesse was there.

You know Morris would rather get the lion share off of touring with "Half-Time".

You know Jesse is better off supporting D'angelo in Europe as far as elevating his profile.

You know the Time would be better off opening for D'angelo in the States.

you're talking about a heavily pro-Jesse and still pro-Jesse camp in the Lesson...many agree that Jesse was the highlight of the album, and one of the reasons why it worked.

most prolly wanna see how this D'Angelo thing shakes out, and see the 7ven get back on their grind afterward.

(largely because it ain't Jesse the Lesson is worried about not showing up...)

Dude's a tattoo artist/rocker/'traveler', always appreciated chopping it up with his crazy ass.

He was the first dude who played me 'The Show' in my uncle's station wagon radio during a family reunion when I was about eight years old.

That was a Top 5 'eureka' moment in terms of instilling my lifetime love for rap music.

If he shows up at a family function I'm at, I'll give him a pound, ask him how he's doing, talk about music like we used to, have a few laughs & be glad to have seen him.

But I ain't seen cuzzo in about 8 or 9 years, don't have any contact information or plans to run into him anytime soon.

I'll see him when I'll see him, sorta like I'll catch a certain soul singer's 'US Tour' if he actually books a date in LA & shows up.

though the response seems to be slightly mixed, just look at the reaction to that SWV song. Granted, given the calendar it's about time that '90s nostalgia started in earnest, but that you can't even get many tracks that satisfy people in the mainstream in the way that song does...

Any ideas on who would be a good replacement?

ORIGINAL 7VEN STATEMENT REGARDING
JESSE JOHNSON

FROM:
MORRIS DAY
JIMMY JAM
TERRY LEWIS
JELLYBEAN JOHNSON
MONTE MOIR
JEROME BENTON

Before we address the topic on most everyone’s mind, please let us do two things.

First of all let us begin by wishing everyone a Happy New Year! Although our good wishes may be a bit tardy in coming they are nonetheless sincere.

Second let us thank everyone for their overwhelming support of our Original 7ven project.

This project never would have happened without your continued encouragement and blessings.

Now to address the rumors regarding Jesse’s departure from the band.

On the morning of December 15th we were awakened to the news that Jesse had issued a message on his Facebook page which said the following:

"Hello Babies, I don't really think I'll be performing with the Original 7 (or The Time if your nasty) any more! We simple don't see eye to eye on anything. Love the guys, but I feel in my heart it's "Time" to walk away while we're all still friends. May Peace be you.

PeaceLove,

Jesse Johnson Bey"

We were all surprised to read Jesse’s Facebook that morning because the 7 of us had spent nearly 3 hours on a conference call the afternoon before, and his desire to leave was not part of the discussion at that time.

On that call we were in fact making plans for the future. And while not everyone was in total agreement on all points, we felt like everyone was committed to this project for the long haul.

Out of respect to Jesse, and because of the holidays we decided it best to take a moment to catch our breath before making any decisions about our future.

While we know that this “silence” was frustrating to everyone who cared (mostly our fans), we believed a few weeks wasn’t too much to ask after 30 years of making music together. While we don’t have all the answers, we have come to the following conclusions:

1. We respectfully accept Jesse’s announcement to not perform with the Original 7ven. His desire to walk away “while we’re still all friends” is admirable, and we support and wish Jesse nothing but the best in all his future endeavors.

2. Jesse will not be “replaced” because there is no way to replace a family member, but we will begin the search to fill the now empty guitar spot in the band. Stay tuned.

3. While we’re not prepared to disclose any detailed plans at this time, please know that “the remaining 6ix” remain committed to this project for the long run and we look forward to seeing each and every one of you on the road this year!

In the meantime we thank YOU our fans for your continued belief, patience, support, and love.

Best,

Mo, Jam, T, Bean, Monte & Rome

Prince had his goons go after Jesse at one of The Time's shows and handcuff him offstage while he got on stage and played. The result was the infamous "food fight" story.

When snow kept Jam and Lewis in Atlanta, Prince played the bass offstage at the Time's San Antonio show and had Jerome mime it.

MF's really, OMG, shouldn't comment on matters where you are on the way outside looking in. For 20+ years none of you M#%%^%F##%^s care if I played in the Time or not, but now you are acting like it's a religion. Just be happy for me when and where ever I find happiness and that happiness doesn't hurt anyone. I believe in personal and private details in life/business matters should stay just that.

And if, you only knew a small portion of the truth, you would would feel so very a shame of your your negative "Outside comments". Always pay attention to who's not making comments as apposed to who's flapping gums on the negative level of energy!!!! So to all nay sayers, Respectfully Fuck off and worry about getting your own house in order, because that's the only house I have a responsiblity or power to direct keep the peace.

Because believe me, the truth is so ugly and vile you wouldn't be able to handle it!!!! As I've stated before, this site "JESSEJOHNSONFAN"is for people that dig what I do or find what I do some what interesting.

BTW D'Angelo is more than just a job, he's blood, a best friend, an incredibley caring human being with a huge heart full of compassion, and a FUCKING INCREDIBLE TALENT! For the record we have had disagreements for years and years, but there is a very strong mutual unspoken respect between us. Let's just say brothers helping brothers! If you can get to that!!!
PeaceLove,

a few negtative comments towards him on his facebook page after he left the Original 7.... guess eventually he saw them too...lol.

Don't see why anyone who would be a fan of Jesse would begrudge him for joining up with D'Angelo....I'd assume a person who was a big Jesse fan would tend to be a fan of D's...but maybe I'm wrong... But yeah.... can't see why anyone wouldn't see the opportunity as a big positive....

I'm sure...like me fans of his were concerned with the abrupt tone and the finality of his statement about the Original 7..but not being privy to exactly what was going on..and why he bounced..it seems pretty presumptious to diss Jesse's motivations..

I'm sure he'll play with the Time again..... but his working with D'Angelo has tons of potential and is a win-win for both D' and Jesse..

however playing for the time or orginal 7 or whatever they are forced to call themselves in 2012 is far worse and of the lesser of two evils he made the right choice and here is why:

the time project didn't even go cracker jack box and the material is lacking IMO, Jesse needed to be singing and or been featured even more 1)

Morris day is a company man and is stuck in a time warp even worse than D'angelo and he is happy with being a collection plate Relic at this stage and time. 2)

watching the time on Jay Leno and picking up Jesse Johnson's vibe i felt like that scene from "Hollywood Shuffle" at winky dinky dog and i could hear Jimmy jam, Morris Day, Jerome Benton and Terry Lewis saying forget those dreams man, stay at the WInky Dinky Dog.

the only other time cat who ain't going for the Jive is JellyBean Johnson. i can tell. 3)

nobody wants to hear no new time stuff no way and that routine and schtick is so old and tiring. so he made the right choice in terms of keeping some change in his pockets and allowed to do his thing. 4)

yeah of course him and D'angelo are going to butt heads because D'angelo is still musically channel surfing a romanticism with the Old Minneapolis thang and Jesse is like Yo, dude i was there and it ain't like quite how you think it is. hopefully Jesse can push D'angelo to find his own groove and stop sounding like a relic that is stuck at a Chitlin drive thru on New Years day.

the reason why i wanted to Jesse not involved musically with D'angelo is becase Jesse is a Guitar Slinger and he ain't trying to re capture anything from the past he broke free of that.

but its cool they are tight and got respect, because i can tell you, those cats in the time ain't trying to hear what Jesse has got to say and they are content on growing old and comfortable and it shows.

too much Politics in Minneapolis. Jesse and jellyBean would love to grab Prince's wig and flip it around, but those other cats are march mellow soft and it shows.

Does Kells even use a guitar player on his songs or in concert???

Morris Day and the Time in whatever formation would blow R.Kelly's sing-songy ass off a stage Right Today Maxx and you know it..

Morris Day has true charisma and is a true BAND leader.... The Drama is in the songs..in the funk....nobody has to act out no coming out the closet gospel plays with Cheryl Pepsi Riley, Stoney Jackson and Shirley Hempfil...lolol..

On the Original 7 DVD Jesse talked about how difficult it was to do a regular show with the Time in Vegas.... guys are older..they didn't have the energy...

it's a good look for Jesse to be rollin with D'Angelo.... Bringing some funk live on stage..and hopefully on record..

See maxx...

you don't get that type of vibe at an R.Kelly show.... that raw energy....

Kells could be a back up singer like Anthony Hamilton or Bilal was for D'.....lolol.

dude stay getting a reality check though
JJ comes off as a coward, letting them know over the internet
runs to do a D'angelo revival show, and there JJ is overplaying guitar solos
and noodiling on stage with some guitar he gave D'angelo
sure JJ has some talent, but so do alot of niggas
but he aint on that level
JJ pulled a bitch move

JJ and D'angelo belong in a band together though

Jesse should have easily had a Lenny Kravitz type of career if he had vision and a goal as a solo artist, but it didn't come to pass.

Jesse is still the baddest guitar player from the Minnapolis scene IMO and he did have some good ideas because it was Jesse with rocking Pink before Prince and Purple, but while Jesse had moments and is very talented, he never got all of it right as a solo artist and that is true.

decent vocalist

alright songwriter

alright arranger and Producer

good showmanship

good on the keys and programming

beast on guitar

however hit and miss album act at best.

d'angelo can sing at times and play but everything else is spotty at best IMO.D'angelo at the keyboard is at his best.

his songwriting leaves alot to be desired and he rides on vamps and grooves as to have some structure.

R.kelly has donnie lyles play guitar for him and he is a good guitar player. Kellz himself plays guitar i saw him on a billboard event playing guitar with Buddy Guy FYI 1)

Jesse Johnson ain't never made an album as good as any of R.Kelly's and if he had have he wouldn't be backing up a made believer Ghetto Superstar in 2012. I love Jesse Johnson's musicianship and a few of his songs, but if Jesse had any real game then ain't no way in the world a cat like Lenny Kravtiz would have blew up. 2)

morris day and the time today would be lucky to audition for a new installment of trapped in the closet. Morris and the time today would be good bit players in a tyler perry film called "lost in a time warp and Permed out" 3)

you must have the same jerri curl activator bottles by your mP3 player which is corrupting your brain cells. ain't nobody thought about no Morris day like that since you had matching Jerri curl activator and Goggles like your football hero Eric Dickerson. Morris ain't counted on the real since "oak tree" and while he was cool with the time, he was a Lemon as a solo artist. i respect Morris musicianship, but lets not get carried away he was a Never was as a Solo act and we both know that. Playa 4)

the original time don't want to mess with the routine and they are window dressing and fronting. Jesse wants to rock and do his thing and I don't blame him. Morris and Jerome still doing there Laverne and Shirley routine 40 years later equals a Massive "L" and Jesse doesn't want to put out a new album and have to be stuck doing 95% of old butt songs. that is a Major "L" and studio expense. 5)

oh wow a relic show in 2012 that never happens? D'angelo knew best to start over in europe because stateside he would be lucky to sell out a Fingerhut convention!!!!!!!!

the way D'angelo sings he needs to do backup for R.Kelly to get some harmony in place. Anthony Hamilton got more of a career than D'angelo now interesting and Blial even does a little though he is still pooty tang. 6)

ain't nobody trying to hear and see no young relic and hearing relic music on top of that.

D'angelo is a featherweight studio artist and that is his legacy in the real world. he had a chance at so much more. RIp Van Winkle aka D'angelo will go back to sleep after his little tour and tired album drop.

meanwhile R.Kelly will just add another chapter to his Hall of Fame Career.

as long as you remember that R.kelly is Kobe Bryant to D'angelo's Penny hardaway and even with a Puppet 1995 ain't coming back then all is cool.

You really trying to tell us Jesse's first solo album isn't even as good as TP2? Born into the 90s? Untitled?

Like I can't accept even you believe this

classic Kellz Albums then Naw. but if you put the Jesse Johnson revue against born into the 90's then yeah. i'm a Huge Jesse Johnson fan, however i dug his playing more than his albums per se. and i dug his Grooves more than his songwriting Man.

had he done more stuff like "nights like this" and "can you help me" along with a "free world" and Be your man" then yeah his game would be sick and every now and then a "every shade of love" type of cut.

but we hardly ever got his best on a whole roll, however as a musician that is where he shinned.

Morris would take D'angelo's scarf and clean off his stacy Adams it ain't even close.

had D'angelo not choked it away then it would have been a different story, but watching Rip Van Winkle D'angelo wake up 12 years later with the same ole tired garbage and trying to act like he is back?? NAW!!!!!!!!

I mean of course there is some cross over but thinking about a lot of that cats I know that you'd call Jesse fans from back in the day... D really isn't even on their radar. Especially now. Unless you're coming to a board like this every day and getting D updates, he's just another "where are they now" google search. Not trying to diss D or anything... that's just how it be.

in 10 years...

but I don't think that Jesse Johnson fans would be generally dissapointed in him playing with D' as far as him doing a music that is totally opposite or contradicting the type of music Jesse is associated with...

it's not like he left the Original 7 to go play with Brittney Spears or Fergie or someone like that...lol

Jesse Johnson

Just walked into my hotel room (5:30am) in Amsterdam and whewww!!! The show easi amazing because Amsterdam parties very, very hearty!

I send a real thank you, love & hugs to the commenters who are simply just fair and compassionate. I think it bothers me more now when people uneducatedly, say nasty and untrue things about me because now my children who love, adore, and are fiercely protective of me, are upset by said bullshit.

I know I'm no where near President Obama's level, plus i'm well aware that critiquing ones work comes with both of our jobs, but one can imagine what the President's wife and children must go through hearing all the garbage said about someone the love so dearly.

My family adores and loves me deeply, so when someone speaks ill of me, especially lies, it hurts them very much. So that the next time when someone wants to shoot off the mouths about something they know absolutely nothing about, please think of a few things first:
1) Innocent people you hurt. Everything we do/say good or bad affects other lives always. So you must at all times try to be mindful of what we do and say.
2) KARMA, KARMA, KARMA! Just because these socalled forums for speaking our minds exist, doesn't mean or shouldn't mean you should abuse a wonderful opportunity to be an hurtful asshole.

So i try very hard every day to do unto others as I wish them to do unto my black ass! I say thank you to everyone one from the cab driver, the fan at the show, and or the janitor sweeping up the joint. Because I know I'm no better than anyone else...Just a little bit fortunate than some...at times...not all the time...but some times.

So thank you for your love in way of fairness, compassion, and understanding. With all do respect if you don't dig me, it's okay, it really is and you are intitled to your opinions, just please take that stupid bullshit to some other site so that my loved ones are not subject to your ignorance.
LovePeace,
Jesse Johnson

P.S.
I was on a conference call with the O-7 and I asked the following questions in early December; " Do we have any shows for December? answered "No" I continued to ask the the same question regarding January and Febuary, and I received the same answer, which was a resounding "NO" I then asked when was the the first royalty accounting coming up? And the answer was, " I don't know" and with Allah as my witness, I respectfully made the announcement that I could no longer AFFORD to participate in an organization that personally cost me thousands of dollars (Gear, Clothing, Travel, etc...) and further more shows no signs of taking premptive measures (Sponsers, Touring, etc...) in helping to see a return on our investment. So help me god, the people on whatever sites that state they were not informed of exit should feel very, very ashamed of them selves to seek sympathy from unknowing fans. Am I angry, I feel sad for people that have to lie to seek unwarranted sympathy. Sad! Do ever post or ask me at anytime or place about this subject.

As I stated in an earlier post the whole truth is to rife with ugliness that would affect he lives of "Purely innocent children of people I thought loved and cared about me"

cmon brothers, get it together.

I don't blame Jesse for going on stage with another one of his friends... you gotta make a living somehow.

I'd like to hope that this will all be resolved somehow that ends with the 7 back together and touring. Without speculating too much about the specifics, it sounds like they had no problem making actual music together, but when it came to the business side of things they had some real issues. Par for the course.

I've got some ish to say about Kells up there, but I think I'm going to chill. LittleX needs to go log off though.

with them.... That's not asking too much...both from a financial aspect and being away from one's family ..you would want the schedule written in pen not pencil..

plus if you're going to do all the work to put an album together....you need to promote it and work the angles to bring in some revenue....if everyone was being whatever about that...can't blame Jesse for bouncing to something that was already set up with D'...

But I honestly feel like the problem is Jesse after reading this post. Well let me rephrase that... Jesse is a good pat of the problem. I mean to post some shit like that on Facebook of all places... basically as a response to what some people (he don't even know) are saying about him, just doesn't make him look like a person with both feet on the ground. It's way too reactionary and tells me dude is somewhat of a time bomb. Again I'm obviously speculating here (and I guess this is the type of shit that pissed him off in the first place lol) but it gives more validity to the Time's official statement on this a few weeks back. The part about them being blindsided by Jesse just up and leaving after the had a conference call that morning where Jesse never voiced any concerns, really does ring true to me now. I'm sure we've all known the quiet dude that doesn't say shit, keeps it all inside then just explodes. In two statements Jesse went from being low keyed to cussing mutha fuckers out. That's just not a stable dude any way you cut it.

I hope things go well for Jesse with D but I really can't say I'm expecting this to go all that smoothly either. I just hope this dude can find some peace at some point.

the other thing too you know Jellybean bounced and is touring Europe with FDeluxe right now...I mean Jess wasn't the only one to take a gig playing with a group that had dates already booked as opposed to sticking with a group that didn't have dates booked and one he had to pay out of pocket his own expenses to participate in.

Cats are indeed human
And I they didn't rob my mama while she wa gambling on the riverboat..what's the point?

Van Hunt had the same reaction.
His son read a message on the org about him
Folks were going in on Van for no valid reason
Then when Van responds letting them know who read it and why he's responding
Mofos still went in on him

Now there's always two sides to the story and then there's the truth
Going off of Jesses initial statement on December makes complete sense now
Dunno about you but if I have invested years of time and my own $$ in something that doesnt seem kosher, I'm out
And if it has to be with my boy, so be it.
But I believe Jesse would have split without the offer to tour with d
Business is business
And when cats get to uhh and duhhh on shit, im out before it gets personal
He didn't take that route
He only addressed the situation after reading 07s statement and what's on the chats
Which got pretty ugly

Jam and Lewis aint pressed for $$
Monte and bean have $$ coming in as well
Morris refuses to take time out of his half time schedule and focus on the 07
Yet he's still getting paid
Which leaves Jesse
Who is a major draw for the reunion in concert and in the studio
And I'm sure he was banking on the tour to recoup his $$ invested

Not pointing fingers but if I were to it wouldn't be in jesse's direction

This was Jesse's original statement

"I don't really think I'll be performing with the Original any more! We simple don't see eye to eye on anything. Love the guys, but I feel in my heart it's "Time" to walk away while we're all still friends. Peace be with you all and them all. PeaceLove Jesse Johnson"

no mention of finances or needing to jump on another opportunity that is presenting itself.... dude said "any more" and dropped an "!" behind it. If it was as simple as some are trying to make it, he could have just left to do his thing and left the door open for future gigs with the fellas.... but he didnt.

That statement makes MORE sense now
Dude was trying his best to keep it cool
That's what I'm getting out of it
It wasn't until a shit storm rained down on him
That he reacted
I'm guessing he's still getting it
So he addressed it as much as he could without getting too deep into and naming names

I have no clue what really down
No one but those dudes and those close to them will know

kinda like, when Sheila E. said she wasn't performing with Prince anymore !! but, because he was pushed to the wall, by fans, he felt like he had to spell it out to silence folks. i mean, you can't expect him to sit around, when their were no shows.

because as someone else pointed out Jelly Bean off doing his thing right now too... Jesse could have easily just went and done the gigs with D without all this fussing.

gonna put it on blast that there were money issues.... plus that puts himself on blast too..

the other thing in that 2nd statement he uses the term Allah for God so if Jesse is a Muslim now then there are rules about how you express issues about your friends...not saying that impacted what he said, but it's possible that played a role in how he framed his initial statement...
