"Fuji apples are delicious"

If your kid wants to give their teacher an apple.

Make sure it’s a Fuji. They don’t look like anything special but they are the truth!

That is all.

There's also Mutsu/Crispin (green), Lodi (green and very very sour) and Winesap (red) as well.

What are some other tart apple types out there?

A strong, tasty apple. But honeycrisp wins. Both on taste and nostalgia. When I was in college, we used to run workouts near the University of Minnesota Ag Sciences fields, where they created the honeycrisp.

A bad honeycrisp is uniquely disappointing. Good call.

My home fruit situation is pretty diverse, though, so that's not a way that I'm likely to get burned very often.

If we're transitioning here to fruit problems, I'm really stuck on something dumb. I just moved to a new apartment and we're having a bitch of a time regulating the temperature in here. No central air, so it's a two bedroom place with three window units but it's got a winding layout so there are large sections of the place where the air conditioning doesn't really reach unless we never open up the doors/windows and just blast it constantly.

That's not really a problem for me personally, but my peaches are SUFFERING. I get them delivered from a farm box (which makes me feel impossibly yuppie, but I've got terrible eating habits when left to my own devices so I can't really apologize for the practice because it's really paid off in getting me to stop eating like a fat teenager) and they arrive not-quite-ripe but the weird oscillating temperatures in the apartment means that my window to eat them is like a day and a half.

I'm dealing with like a 50% wasted peach rate, which is unacceptable and particularly so when the ones I can actually get to are wonderful.

The correct answer is actually "eat your peaches faster, dummy" but I'm not quite ready to acknowledge that.

I've been warned for so long about keeping certain fruit in the fridge that it's possible some of the specifics are actually just old wives' tales.

Nothing to lose except the same amount of peaches I've been losing. I'm trying it. Thanks!

Avocados aren't a problem for me. I mean, the issue would be the same, but I'm just way better at buying them when I have an imminent, specific plan for how I'm gonna eat them.

Get some wemo smart switches and plug your A/Cs into them.

Then, get a smart temperature sensor (I'd have to look to tell you what kind. I think samsung smartthings, though.) to get an output of the temperature. Use the output to turn the A/C on automatically when it gets a certain temperature.

Then use a google home mini to yell at your smart A/Cs when you personally feel hot.

If you google or youtube, there should be guides. I'm recalling from a video I watched from memory.

jokes.

but, red delicious apples can be fucking ah-MAY-zeeng, but you gotta be lucky and get them at the right time and place.

most of the time and most of what you will find will unfortunately be a wet sock masquerading as god's fruit

when good, they are heavenly. when they are subpar you will want to find the tree it came from and burn it.

I have never heard of these apples before, and they've already got a pretty deep hole to dig out of.

I'm not imaginative enough to pretend that reading a wikipedia article about apples discloses anything useful. But the picture did look delicious and I've had at least one of its ... ancestor apples (?) and that was pretty tasty.

Not familiar with these at all. Am I just not very observant or maybe their popularity/availability varies regionally?

In response to Reply # 0

I'm kind of the person who goes hard on a new food experience then drops it like a bad habit; I haven't had a fuji apple this year at all, not even fiending for it when I pass by them at the grocery store, but I did get some barlett pears (damn them shits were juicy as hell).

Like someone said honeycrisp apples are good too, I remember I was eating a fuji apple at work one day and he told me about pink lady apples, I was like what kind of name is that for an apple but he told me they suppose to be even better but I haven't tried them yet.

Perfect amount of sweetness, not too tart, and not available all year so I snatch them up when they show up in the store.

those types of apples are pretty pricey, at least from what I see at Farmer's Markets here in NYC.

I think they are routinely $3.00/pound.
