This was obviously a super important goal to her and someone doesn't lose that much weight without an impressive level of fortitude, discipline, and effort. I'm all for celebrating a woman achieving a goal she worked damn hard for.
Zero comment on:
-the reasons behind said goal (not really our business) -whether she looked better heavier or thinner (she's beautiful regardless and end of the day what truly matters is how she felt/feels about herself) -whether she's healthier heavier or thinner (this would depend on clinical info about her we don't/shouldn't know, and doesn't make any sense to argue about since the pathophysiology is pretty clear depending what said clinical info showed)
So ya. It's not like what she did was easy. Props.

Adele could be posting that photo because she's desperately sad and in a bad place and wants to be reminded of happiness, sure, but also nothing wrong with assuming she's posting it because she's happy, happy with her new look, and doesn't mind compliments about it.
This idea that we should never ever praise someone, particularly a celebrity who has been in the spotlight for years, because they might possibly have a new look due to sadness doesn't seem fair.
Now a random lady on the street? Or an anonymous woman that didn't ask for comments? Sure that's wrong.
But Adele is a celebrity, she's aware of how she looked before, seems to be doing alright, so folks commenting positively about her new look shouldn't be condemned to the pits of hell lol.

Instagram is overwhelmingly composed of women (and men) posting images of themselves to seek out positive comments. If these people didn't want the positive feedback, IG wouldn't have a comments section (or a business model).
Now you say "we shouldn't comment on women's bodies because it's sexist." but there is not a person (man or female) here who can sit up hasn't commented on how good some woman look at some point or another. Anyone saying otherwise is being hypocritical.
I get why we don't want to compliment women for starving themselves or dramatically losing weight and folks should stick to that line of arguing...but you have to acknowledge that this line of arguing puts your values before who is actively trying to lose weight. I don't think there's anywhere where I said it doesn't happen or even that I've never done it. You just made that up.
But real talk, women's own willful participation in it, doesn't make it any less sexist. In the same way that some black folks participate in their own oppression, doesn't make it any less fucked up.

-strict caloric restriction (1000cal/day,'Sirtfood Diet', comprised of mostly green tea, buckwheat, kale, and turmeric) -daily morning workouts with a trainer -additional fitness classes few times a week -pilates -stepcounting/walks when possible
^Pair all that with the fact that the heavier one is the more calories one burns during exercise... a heavy person losing ~100lbs after about a year of going hard like that isn't inconceivable. It averages to about a couple of pounds a week which most experts say is a healthy weight loss rate *shrug*
I could understand suspicion if her numbers/timeframe sounded crazy, but they honestly don't. Plus there's often visible signs when rapid weight loss has been done unhealthily or involves some degree of anorexia nervosa, bulimia, or other eating disorder... usually the hair looks thinned out (especially on white girls/women), the skin doesn't sit right on their frame due to their lean mass wasting away, etc. Adele doesn't seem to be displaying these signs; she moreso just looks like a smaller version of herself.

maybe it’s all true but I think when you have hundreds of millions of dollars you can get a ton of help.
I think that’s why some folks will shame her or not believe it was done naturally. I don’t think what BKwhat said is true about personal responsibility holds true when comparing the average person to a wealthy celeb.
I haven’t paid attention. To her photos over the years but if someone posted this pick and asked me who it was I wouldn’t have said Adele.

exercise for sure, especially as a single mother. You do have a point there.
Like... a single mother - similar in size to where Adele was before, who has to juggle multiple jobs to make ends meet - might not be able to afford daily sessions with a fancy celebrity trainer. Items like kale, whole grains, spices etc might be expensive around her way. And that's before getting to the *time* a wealthy celebrity can afford to devote to self-care, compared to the average person. Adele can afford to slow down/not work for a year to focus on her health, her son, healing from her breakup, her personal goals, etc. The time (and financial security) itself is a luxury.
So I do get what your alluding to. I just think, for me, I don't necessarily see any reason to read so much into it.. like her possibly lying about her regimen, or being some kind of disappointment, or whatever else. I'm just looking at it as a straight up (successful) weight loss effort lol
