She did ask the parents to take the girl outside and they didn't. But I'm with the diner owner and I understand if that family and others won't return to the restaurant. She seems cool with that too.

fuck you.

to know about them, "I felt helpless as a mom that, you know, I couldn't do anything to help her, because I can't explain why there's crazy people in this world that behave like that." Your child is not that delicate of a flower, she/he can handle a 2 second scolding and be alright. That being said, the owner didn't need to issue after the fact threats; she wasn't going to do sh*t.

And I understand that sometimes at least some parents let the kid go on while the parent ignores the tantrum bc they don't want the kid to learn that acting out will result in them getting the parent's attention. If that's what these parents were doing that's fine with me generally. But if the diner owner asked them to quiet the girl or take her outside the parents should've done so, I think.

fuck you.

i mean maybe that WAS their logic but unless you're on a plane where you can't leave
you can't subject people to shit like this
i don't even like when my son is screaming at home
i'm not about to make everyone deal with his screaming in public
i will give him a warning or two and if he still has a meltdown i'm out.
people are usually understanding
but 40 damn minutes while people are trying to eat GTFOH
that means some people had to sit they entire meal with this child screaming
that's just not fair.

i'm just glad he's off that shit these days
he used to bug out every time we'd leave the book store bc
there's a thomas & friends train set up that he was obsessed with smh
other than that he's good

he would scream and cry when we'd leave the book store
so i would just make that the last stop in the mall and go home when he got crazy
he doesn't do that anymore bc he's kinda over thomas and friends tho

he loves going to the store and even in the toy store he doesn't trip when we have to go
(we always leave with something if we go there tho)

If your kid wants to wig out, hey, shit happens. Just have the basic sense and decency to remove your kid.

Since they didn't, and all the owner did was yell, it's all good and I'm more than happy to eat at a place where it's expected that you remove your kid if they're on one because that's what I've done in that situation.

I've never yelled at any of my customer's children, but I've wanted to.
If I owned the company I worked for- best believe I'd do everything short
of yelling if the situation called for it, including side-eye, deliberate pointed glaring,
telling some people their business isn't wanted, and threatening to have them
escorted off the premises by the authorities. Some folks wouldn't believe the kind of behavior
that results from customer's sense of entitlement in the retail/service industry...

I wouldn't raise my voice because that's not how I operate in general,
but I don't fault her for doing so in that situation- especially since it's
her establishment. Shit, that HAS to be one of the perks of not working
under anyone.

If the parents (and other patrons) want to take their money
elsewhere it's probably in everyone's best interests that
they do so.

the owner was in the wrong
it's a kid, a two year old at that
they aren't capable of controlling themselves let along their emotions

she should have kindly ask the parents to quiet her down or leave bc it was disturbing the other patrons. if someone yelled at my kid i'd punch them in the face.

Believe me i am on the fence with this story. I think the parents were more embarrassed that a stranger could control their child better than they could.

If it was impossible for the kid to stop the kid would have kept fussing after the owner yelled. But the kid shut up. The parents need to take notes.

Either remove the child and teach them at home that causing a scene will not get them anywhere or let a real adult show u how to handle the situation and stfu and take notes.

I bet the parents handle it better the next time they go to a public restaurant.

as a parent of a 5 year old I am even more aware of other kids behavior in public than I was before. The shit I see is fucking insane. The wife went off on some lady at the movies last month. We were in the back row because it has a wide aisle where I can get the most leg room. Im a tall drink of water and I like to stretch my shit out. This lady thought it was fine to let her 2 year old wander around that big aisle. We told her once that it was distracting. Then the kid starts crying through the entire movie and she never left so the wife basically told her get out of here. She left and never came back. When I am at restaurants I see kids running around, climbing under tables, and constantly crying. But the parents just let it go. Making excuses like oh well they are 2 or 3 they are kids. I dont give a fuck how they act at home but when you bring them bad ass kids to a public space you have to take into account everyone else. If I have magically been able to keep my son from acting like a fucking caveman out in public then you should be able to do it too. I would be pissed if someone yelled at my kid too. But I would never let it get to that point where he was ruining everyone else's day.

What's the point of yelling at the kid?

The child was hungry of course it's gonna wild out!

Wtf else does she need to do? chew the food and feed it to the kid like a bird?

the parents wouldn't feed a hungry kid in a restaurant.

(read the facebook comments) AND I don't blame her one bit.

I think she did what she thought was best to quiet the baby and provide a decent place for her customers. it wasn't a nice thing. but sometimes you gotta do not nice things for the greater good.

I tried to give the owner the benefit of the doubt because we've all been annoyed by a crying/screaming children. But even in the video the owner comes off rude and mean-spirited. She serves pancakes but doesn't know how to deal with a customer having a crying baby? lmao

The couple didn't just walk into her home with a crying baby. Instead, they came into her diner to get service and put money in her pocket. She needs to be smarter than that.

The owner's rudeness on camera has nothing to do with what happened. The parents failed to handle the situation and inconvenienced the rest of the patrons in a very cramped diner. They were provided with ample opportunity to address their child's behavior and were provided with multiple cues that the owner would like for them to either leave or take the child out. Nothing the owner did will have an impact on this child, so what is the big issue here?

>id have drug mine out the diner

now why would you have done that? maybe because you respect the other patrons of the diner and want everyone to enjoy themselves. and that level of respect would have been appreciated and admired. but to act like everyone else has to be comfortable with your child's behavior...that's inconsiderate.

but mad at the parents for not doing anything about the screaming.
i would slap the shit out of anybody yelling at my kid
BUT
it would have never gotten to that point bc i wouldn't have my child screaming for 40 minutes in a restaurant

If the kid was special needs, I think I'd probably have a different take on this.

But this sounded like white entitled parents with a spoiled child.
