You finna be single 4eva. Your pool is too small and competition was too stiff. Those successful-ass men don't have the same criteria you have. They'll take you OR a broke chick. Cookin-ass Keisha's stock may actually be higher than yours right today.

However, it's true that if most men had to choose between:

1. Sanaa Lathan
2. The chick that works Starbucks that looks like Sanaa Lathan

A lot (most?) will choose #2.

...just don't date me. By "significantly" I'm talking $30k+ more money a year. Never dated a woman that made that much more than me. Never dated girls from wealthy families when I was younger, either.

Economic stratification is a real thing when it comes to dating.

Besides, wasn't jlo giving some dude an allowance. I'd sign up for that.

My wife got TWO degrees that end in a "D". Of course she's more educated than me, and just about everyone else.

I'm handsome and charming and in possession with what I believe to be above-average dick game (In all fairness, I haven't had any dick to compare it to). I got me a lil degree (creative, at that!) and make a lil money. I have become an excellent husband, father and life-partner. You'd be lucky to have me.

The point of this post is "regular-ass niggas" are catches. stop waiting for your Kameela-ass nigga.

men without degrees. most women are not looking for someone equally successful, convicts and jobless bums have no problem starting families or finding nice women with decent jobs to latch onto. for what you're saying to make any sense there would have to be an overabundance of guys out there who are lonesome and looking but can't find a decent woman. nah there are a bunch of men satisfied to be single or are dating / marrying up. so this post can end here.

It's about women, of any race, who can generally be called successful. For the sake of discussion, let's say upper-middle class or middle class with graduate degrees.

that men don't value their career success in the way that they do with us...so I will hear some of them appear to be surprised when a guy does chose a woman who's "not at their level" over them, or just in general.

What I can say is that for me, the career success isn't a major factor, and I'm more about the time you have. It's a complete mixture...some professional women I know will work a solid 40-45 hours a week, while some work 65-70. Then, some women who want to be actresses or even some who aren't established yet may work/attend school 50-60 hours a week, while some only work 20-30.

And with that, I'm really just about who has more time to spend, plus what their overall goals are, versus where they currently are. I don't want an unemployed chick who has nothing BUT time, but if we can only see each other once a month, it damn sure won't work.

most men DO care about what a woman brings to the table financially.

and please understand what "broke" means to a woman. it means crusty feet, DIY hair, wack gear and cheap perfume. if a woman is broke, she does not have the financial resources to look her best, and aint no dude wifing that unless he's subsidizing.

and unlike men, women in this position do not have the option of hoping that a man will see her "potential" and wife her anyway.

i also feel like a lot of dudes may not necessarily have an opinion about a woman's finances, but when they come across someone who is significantly more successful than them, that can be a strong motivating factor in marrying her.

I know plenty of broke chicks that stay fly, conversely I know plenty of "successful career women" who don't put in as nearly as much effort in keeping themselves up.

Last week I met a chick at happy hour who is a very successful attorney in her late 30's and makes well into 6 figures but her feet were ashy and crusty as a mf and it looked like she had never had a pedicure EVER. Immediate turnoff. And she had the never to be complaining about not being able to find a man "on her level", lol
