>When he was like "Call him out here...I'm Michael Corleone". >I mean, sure, he shot 2 people, but he wasn't even MADE, or IN >the organization, so to speak. Even if he was, he wouldn't put >elevated too high for offing 2 guys. Now he's parlayin in >Siciliy on some "Call him out here, let me impress him by >sittin back, chillin, actin like big shit". Man, he didn't >even stand up when he introduced himself. I don't care if >your Don Spighetti, you introduce yourself to a prospective >father-in-law, you stand up lol >
i agree with that part, but i thought it also showed vulnerability that he offered the information that he was a marked man to the father. surely, apollonia's father could have brokered a deal for protection for his family had he given up michael.
>Mike was on his own nuts like he was Pope Pious IV. I'm not >expert on the mob by any stretch, but even tho Sonny died, and >Fredo was stupid...that doesn't put Mike in the running. Guys >paid made dues, and Mike showed up like "Oh no! Fathah! That's >it! I'm running the show...get me my suit and brievecase" lol. >
wasn't mike becoming godfather vito's decision though? it seemed fairly clear that mike had the ambition and given that he was vito's son, he really is first in line since fredo was not a real candidate and tom didn't seem to want it. mike was the only real person that stepped up. perhaps others could have done the job, but mike stuck up for his family when they needed it. he was a dick about a lot of things, but like some people said...that is part of the tragedy. he didn't have the balance down like his pops did. another thing the movie pointed out how mistaken he was to think he could leave that life behind without serious consequences.
