Thanks for the link, luv....

As for the story, it was very much on the surface...It didn't contain what really continued to fuel their beef (Prince taking Vanity away from Rick), specifics of the touring battles (assholes on both sides), and how near Rick's death he actually acknowledged that Prince was carrying the torch....And how Prince made it a point to give a heartfelt tribute to Rick following his death during a Musicology show...

Those things would have added a lot of context....

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

ain't nothing new Rick James moved me more. the thing is for while Prince lasted longer his music got more corny and boring.

Rick had an Excuse, Prince just ran out of sponges to jack in his camp and Prince been Musically done since 88 and most folks know it.

Rick James did it all. full band and the synth funk and his music is still more lively.

oh yeah when asked out of Michael and Prince the King of Funk Picked the King of Pop because he knew MJ flipped the whole game.

Prince was Badd back in the day,but then again so was having an Atari play station.

He was great at his niche being funk, but Prince was able to transcend from those roots and really evolve into a multi-dimensional artist.

Prince could do it all..better musician, songwriter, band leader,arranger..and lets not get on the subject of versatility, crossing different genres, music styles etc.

because i can break these things down you like this Partna

"Super Freak"=New Wave pop R&B

Ebony Eyes=Gospel Song

Fool on the Street=multi fushion have you heard that Latin Break he has with the Guitar, Percussion and drums and those changes?

party all the time, can't stop,in my house=Pop Music

Rick james covered a wide vairety of styles but some corny Jive Turkey like you only know the usual 5-6 songs and ain't qualified to speak on the Brother and it shows.,

Prince got alot off of Rick James Musically period. Rick was a Hybrid and was a Better Songwriter, arranger and Producer IMO.

Prince is the better instrumentalist, however Rick's music moved me far more overall.

tired ole Urkel watching Turkeys gotta alot of nerve speaking on Rick James.

RIck James moved alot of folks and he ain't had to jack nobody's career to count.

younger Turkey don't know no better and Purple sugar backs is re supply the pitcher to continue it as one way.

Rick gets his due from the people that count...His true fans...

You know how the game is played Maxx...Unless you have immense success, die and leave a fresh corpse, or u sell 100 million records or you are super mainstream (i.e. white and pop), you don't get that all-around love...

It was Rick who fucked up...

If he was alive Rick would be the first to tell you he fucked up his legacy beyond his hardcore fans like u and me...

He had the chance to take advantage of his legacy....Drugs are a motherfucka....

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

his songwriitng and Producing are top tier Yo. and I have seen lesser turkeys get more shine and it is racial and also because he was a outspoken Brother.

but the cat been sampled,Looped ten fold and influenced and inspired a whole lot of cats.

to me he is in terms of the modern era of the 80's the direct link to Hip Hop from R&B before you get to Bobby Brown and R.kelly.

RIck messed up maybe a longer run, however he got it right in terms of classic albums, songs and Live stage performer.

not many acts before or since can say they had one song that dominated and represented an era in a particular style of music 'Super Freak" and then a decade later have it flipped in a whole different style in hip hop and the song is even bigger.

Hammer with U can't touch this was huge. same song different title and different decade. that alone speaks of Rick james's genius and gift.

he was Good in the 70's and Great in the 80's what else do you want?

not to mention all the acts he brought on and a sideman like Bobby Nunn who hit with 'Shes just a groupie" and Nunn hit with the Jets on "rock it 2 u" back in 87.

... Morris's character in Purple Rain was Rick James. As far as a rivalry of a more popular act and the misunderstood prince. Even the backstage antics.

go watch Rick James on soul train back in 1980 and Rick was sporting that look and vibe even before the Cars and you will notice alot of interesting things.

Prince was watching Rick james like a Pimp on the look out for a new trick.

In response to Reply # 15

morris day:

an 'underclass' guy that makes fun of 'sophistication'
by turning the staples of it on it's head.

yeah, he's wearing a suit and tie,
but it doesn't look like a regular suit and tie.

he's in a limo, but the windows don't work.

he brags about being cool,
but the undertone of it all is that he's NOT cool (in a stereotypical way).
but it works for him because he's so comfortable w/ himself
that his UNcoolnees turns into a magnatic charisma. so he ends up beeing a cool ass motherfucker.

remeber in 777-9311 when he get rejected by a girl
and resorts to just screaming out his number?
"i KNOW i've got to be cooler than this cat you're sitting with.
COME ON!" he pleads, presuably while being dragged away
from this woman by three of his friends. "777-9311!" he shouts,
as he is escorted out of the club (probably). lol

which is not to say that morris day doesn't get laid a lot.
but his tactics are different from rick james'.

morris day's come-ons are clearly insincere,
but his smile makes you want to believe them anyway.

he's a rake, for sure.
but he's not the same type of rake that rick james is.

rick james:

makes no attempt to even put on airs of 'sophistication.'
his clothes make everybody in the mainstream uncomfortable.
his clothes and hair tell you right up front
that he is an outsider. and fuck you if you don't like it.

rick james' ballads (attempt) to sound as if
he means every word. it's not tounge in cheek like morris.

rick james explicitly SAYS he is a freak,
morris day simply implied it (convincingly).

the two don't reperesent the same archetype to me at all.

i don't see the connection.

In Purple Rain, the Kid was this misunderstood genius who was taunted by a more popular, more commercial act. It seems like that theme was inspired by his experience touring with Rick James.

i've heard a few people say that
morris day's persona was lifted from rick james.

i never agreed, but i couldn't articulate why until just now.

folks still argue over who was better in "purple rain."

that being said, i do find it hillarious
that prince got mad at the time for stealing his shine,
even though he wrote the material,
played the instruments,
and promoted them himself.

i like to imagine prince sitting in an empty room,
being angry at the alter ego that created the time.

"FUCK JAMMIE STARR!" he might have exclaimed, to nobody in particular.

all the while forgetting that HE is jammie starr.lol
the visual cracks me up.

check this from Wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Time_(band)#Prince.2C_Formation_and_Success

A growing rivalry began to develop between the two groups, as The Time toured with Prince and his band during his 1982 Controversy Tour. Frustrated with their lack of input on the albums bearing their name and being underpaid, The Time would take to the stage with the purpose of showing up Prince, much the same way Prince and his band undermined Rick James when they toured with him as James' opening act. (Unlike what happened during Rick James' Light it Up tour, no one was leaving before the headliner, Prince, finished his set.) The tension came to a head on the final night of the tour in Cincinnati during the Time's set when Prince and some of his cronies egged their supporting act from off stage. Things further escalated after The Time's performance when guitarist Jesse Johnson was handcuffed to a wall-mounted coat rack and further humiliated. Prince, of course, demanded no interruptions during his performance, but as soon as he left the stage, a food fight erupted. When the battle continued at the hotel, Prince made Morris Day pay for all damages, claiming that he had started the whole thing.

During the 1983's 1999/Triple Threat tour, The Time were forced to play as Vanity 6's backing band from behind a curtain, before playing their own hour-long set with only a small pay increase. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who had begun writing songs and production work of their own (working with SOLAR to produce Klymaxx and with Tabu Records to produce the S.O.S. Band), were stranded in Atlanta by a blizzard and failed to make it to a Time concert in San Antonio, for which Jerome had to mime playing bass guitar on stage while Prince played Lewis' part off stage, and Lisa stood in for Jimmy Jam. Subsequently, the duo were fined and then fired, although Prince would state in a 1990 Rolling Stone's interview that "I didn't fire Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Morris asked me what I would do in his situation. Remember, it was his band." Whether their firing was due to the incident or to their increasing independence has never been clear. Monte Moir took the opportunity to leave as well, and would also work with Jam and Lewis. The three were replaced with Mark Cardenas and Paul Peterson on keyboards and Jerry Hubbard on bass. This new line up were featured in Prince's Purple Rain film. The Time rode the wave of popularity created by the movie and hit singles "Jungle Love" and "The Bird" and were household names in 1984.

this is exactly why I thought Morris was "cool", too. because he was obviously full of crap with all his braggadocio and "uncool", but somehow... he wasn't.

Kells from a another generation...So is Stevie...Babyface, as much as I dug dude, wasn't on the same planet as the Midget...

It's Prince...and if u wanna include Madonna, go ahead...Because she is a survivor from that era as well....

But that's it...Everyone else from that era (and music genre from dance-funk-pop...) is either dead because of their own tragic demons, retired, or singing at country fairs or local lounges...

Prince has basically outlived them all from his era...Dude is still pulling in $50 to $80 million a year just by touring...Dude can call up a record label and they would sign him up on the spot...He has shown when he wants to play the game he can have a no. 1 or top 3 album and go platinum or gold (from Musicology to 3121 to whatever...) 3o years after the fact...

U don't have to dig his new shit...Hell, at times I don't even dig his new shit...lol...And u you can continually clown and discount his old shit like a mad man...

But Prince is still alive and kicking and doing what he wants, when he wants to...

Take it and smile....

funny how Prince went at Kellz in rolling stone back in 96. he can't hang with no kellz and you know this.

Kellz is a far better Artist than Prince, but you are stuck in your childhood so i'll forgive you.

Michael Jackson dead with a Live show still out draws a Live Prince. Prince is a 80's relic doing the same ole tired show and nobody wants to hear nothing past 88.

that is almost 30 years of not counting.

Stevie WOnder did everything twice as better as Prince and those songs still hold up far better and easily.

Babyface made it too two decades.

everybody I mentioned circled two decades of doing it the right way. Prince only had One and he was still riding in other peoples rides.

Kellz still making movies, touring and plenty of Music and Kellz ain't had to try to make his sound Blacker, prince been trying to be Huey Newton since 89 and with Mixed results.

Prince does hits and is a Godo Nostelgia Act and that is cute for the Whole Family.

that is the thing you turkeys talk about keeping it real and so on and whatnot, but alot of your love for Prince is the cross over effect and basically that is the only real thing that got Prince over from Rick, Roger and a Steve Arrington, but to sit here and act like Prince didn't jack from Rick james's playbook is truly living in your own world.

Rick James did everything that Prince did and without the benefit of a motion picture or MTV and other factors.

Nope...

Not gonna let u do this anymore...

It is perfectly possible to say the following:

FROM 1978-1982/83, RICK JAMES WAS THE BRIDGE TO WHERE PRINCE WANTED TO GO. RICK JAMES WAS KEEPING THE LIGHTS ON AT MOTOWN; RICK JAMES WAS A CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED SONGWRITER/PRODUCER...RICK JAMES KICKED PRINCE'S ASS WHEN THE MIDGET FIRST STARTED OPENING UP FOR DUDE....

BUT...then we get into the rest of the story...A story that you don't like to hear...

BY 1983, PRINCE WAS ALREADY SEPARATING HIMSELF FROM RICK. PRINCE WOULD PROVE TO BE MORE FOCUSED, AMBITIOUS, SUCCESSFUL, AND IMPACTFUL THAN RICK...HE WOULD PROVE TO HAVE MORE SELF-CONTROL AND NOT SUCCUMB TO HIS PERSONAL DEMONS LIKE RICK...

Point blank, Prince proved to the better all-around artist in the long run...

You can love Rick James, like I and many other do, and still live in reality...

Rick lighted the bomb...Prince was the explosion....

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

they both fell off after 88 and the thing is Prince had a chance to really milk it with the 90's through now, but obviously Andre Cymone, Dez Dickerson had to have been helping Ghost his thing, because Prince fell off like a Pat Sejak Late Night show??

RIck james matched Prince during his Prime and peak.

78-83 was Prince's Prime and peak on the real. the Minneapolis Sound at his Prime and peak so if you give RJ the edge well you Prove my point.

and prince Never made an album better than MJ's Off the Wall and Thriller so take another "L".

Prince fell off in the 80's and ain't hardly been heard from since and I wonder if that turkey had ghosts in the lab back in the 80's because his fall off is a real Mystery that even Scooby doo with extra hot dogs couldn't figure out?

Prince didn't make an Artistic statement when he had a chance to really distance himself.

just One big Ole Purple Tease Turkey.

Rick james did it the right way and Moved me more. i ain't alone well on these Boards i am.

U can't have it both ways Maxx...And u doing it with the wrong person because Rick is/was my man...

But let's be real here...Prince was still selling 5 million albums (in the States alone) and selling out arenas on what was regarded his most commercial, cheesiest album (Diamonds & Pearls)...Meanwhile, brother Rick was in bad shape drug wise and fighting with the law...

Like I said...Rick schooled Prince...He pushed him...He inspired him...Hell, he shook him up...And you know what happened next? Prince became the more important star and artist...An artist so big that dude was releasing a no. 1 album and headlining the Super Bowl almost 30 years later...

Like I said, you can be mad about it and rewrite history if you want to...

But the truth is the truth...

Prince is one of the true GOATS....

Prince wasn't happening until Sinead O'Connor did "Nothing compares 2 u".

Yo ain't nobody been checking for a Prince album like that since we each got our driver's license and permits back in the day.

Prince bought a number 1 album and then what?

Prince is selling himself to the highest bidder and nobody is biting.

the super bowl show was ok at best. in general the half time show at a super bowl is cheesy IMO. unless they had have had 70's era James brown or especially 70's era Earth, wind and fire leading a band and themselves then I ain't with it.

Prince is still tight live and I got good strong memorys of him when he counted, but i ain't into being stuck in the past because for all the music Prince done put out since the 90's til now and also the suppose vault ain't nothing sounded like much and like Little Richard said about Prince back in the late 80's a little of something is better than alot of nothing.

bottom line Rick james Moved me more and he is to me one of the all time greats. I never said Prince wasn't an all time Great, however i don't give no turkeys a pass for 25 years either and he been lame for well over 2 decades IMO.

RIck had an excuse and he still did enough that his work is there to back it up.

Rick wishes he could've played ONE instrument as well as Prince.

Rick ain't do nothing but combine Eddie LeVert,Kiss & P-Funk...then tried to out snort Marvin at Motown.

Morris Day's persona is a take on Prince's half brother "Alfred".

Anything and the only thing Prince got out of Rick's playbook it was "sucking miserably when the well is dry".

Rick was done by the time Prince was taking off.

Prince was done by 1991 studio wise...BUT STILL SCHITTING ON RICK ON STAGE TIL' RICK WENT TO THE BIG ROCK IN THE SKY,player.

Wise up,nigga.

You running around here for TEN YEARS talking about a has been that didn't make it OUT OF THE 80's!!!!

then back it up with that child raping R.Kelly?

Rick was done after "Cold Blooded". Everything else you say put it in a hot air balloon and float yo' ass around the world in a day.

Watch that embarassing ass "Glow" video again. You sould be on mums the word status everytime the topic comes up.

why i don't know.

Grammys back in 82 the whole call and response with the percussion and breaks Rick James tore that stage up when he did "give it to me baby" and low and behold fast foreward to the 85 grammys and Prince jacked that exact thing.

turkey from 78-82 Rick james was owning R&B.

it wasn't until Prince put out 1999 that he got on board with Rick, Lionel and Michael.

on the Protege tip the Mary Jane girls and Teena Marie waxed Prince chicks the same way you scrub the State wall after they allow you a few hours to tickle some keys.

both cats played out in 88. Rick did do "this Magic Moment" and it was cool cover and then you fast forward to the mid 90's and Prince is covering and sounding bad. His covers stink.

the Glow video had more personality than prince's whole acting career.

nobody in there right mind should have ever giving prince a budget to act.

Process and the Doo Rags>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Good Question and most of the Paisley park acts.

R.Kelly wipes the floor on Prince turkey and has stayed on point for two straight decades.

the Last time Prince counted you were watching the two Coreys in License to drive. and you had just gotten your driver's License.

you can't hang with me turkey and I know your state time is about up.

ole crusty the clown bugger lip and Oreo dipping ranch dressing Buffalo Butt Bookman dancing Turkey.

shut your retarded ass up with all them stretch armstrong hair-brained theories.

Always projecting your loser hall of fame fantasy world onto folks.

Prince is hands down a better musician, songwriter & performer than both Rick James & R. Kelly put together.

Check the vaults. between 1980 and 1990 Prince was the Michael Jordan of music.
Nigga got re-mixes & B-sides and whole alternate albums that never came out that are more interesting than EVERYTHING your 2 favorite felons could EVER produce at their peak.

Get over it TJ Office Maxxx. Your jheri curl juice has fried your psychotic cro-magnon brain. And stop wasting your supposed to be "looking for a job on your Mama's computer in her bedroom" time.

The Sign O The Times movie prolly had Rick holed up in his bathroom for weeks with his wig off smoking til his eyes bulged out and he looked like Miles Davis.

Rick James was flipping his wig bangs out of his eyes in the rockhouse when Prince was recording classics!!!

You have jheri curl bangs and smell like pee and musty sexual deviant.

George Clinton didn't want to be bothered with Rick (crackhead discrimination?) because Rick was a phony.

Apollonia 6's album is better than both Mary Jane Girls albums, Stone City album, Process & the Doo-Rags albums combined.

Zapp & Roger got just as many good songs than Rick James, nigga. You a loud stupid herb.

Gone and erase all that bbw midget porn off the history of your mama's computer, and quit playing with yourself in front of your lil' sister & grandmama while they watch Maury, you freak.

just another Purple Sherm head Prince 81-85 was the Minnapolis sound peak and prime.

RIck james 78-83 and Rick moved me more.

you lose all credibility with that Applonia 6 garbage because they couldn't hold the Mary Jane Girls Fredrick's of Hollywood bags let alone match those songs.

Prince can't see no R.kelly in no studio. funny how Michael J Jordan refused to show up for Prince at the Emanciapation party, but just last year Michael Jordan in Beverly Hills personally had R.kelly to his birthday party to sing.

fake supablack pompious pretenious half baked wanna be Paul Mooney acting sideways acting turkey.

turkey you knows nothing about no Rick James.

i ain't forgot how Old pro waxed your behind in here and i'm about to go there myself, however your stannary behavior of always follow me and thinking you can one up my personal opinions on music just lets me know

just how insecure you are with your wack takes. look at the great lengths you go to try to prove your point and still it backfires.

Rick James left a musica Legacy period and his influence went to a whole new audience of music lovers with Hip hop alone.

as for Prince most folks only care about the two White Girls and you know it.

sad to say most folks don't sweat Andre and Dez like that and you know the reasons.

acting like the Mary Jane girls didn't musically hold up better than Vanity 6,Appolonia 6,Carmen Electria,Ingrid Chavez and Mayte combined is plain crazy but then again look at whom i'm talking?

Rick being part Eddie Levert, part Kiss and part P funk is a musical gumbo that ain't many acts could ever pull off and no shame in that. because at the end of the day Rick could write and produce.

R.kelly got a strong and healthy 20 year run fool while you still got a Mr.T doll and chain to play with.

you need a Hero to follow and i don't mind, however i don't Stan behavior from you.

the Stone City Band still tours and Rick gave his blessings on the Name, Nuff said.

process and the doo rags more impact than Good question, three o clock and tony lemans combined turkey.

trapped in the closet is the right fit of a motion pitcure to bring Prince back. R Kelly getting his Richard Pryor which way is up meeting Eddie Murphy in coming to america and the klumps watch it now.

like i said your posts and you are like Geraldo Riveria at Al Capone's vault alot of hype and camera's but nothing in there but Blanks.

Damon Wayans gotta be your Hero as well because you are truly BlankMan and Big Ole roasted Turkey

folks are held hotage by your trash and we want to echo green your garbage turkey

I agree that Prince have more great albums simply by falling off later but Rick's debut as well as "Street Songs" and "Throwin down" are throughoutly enjoyable and great IMO. Additionally, I think about 2/3 of "Fire it up" and "Bustin out" are great as well. Add some good songs on "Garden of love" and "Cold blooded" and there is a solid legacy

Anyway, I understand that people get pissed off at maxxx for his Prince-dissing antics but there's no reason to downplay Rick james achievements and strengths because of that. I never agreed with the common consensus of making Rick a "Greatest hits"-only type of artist-there are several gems hidden on his albums that shows that he was far from a generic formula artist...

I think Prince overall had a better career but when Rick was still doing good music (=78-82), I can honestly not say that Price was better, at least not to my ears...

and personally, I'd take some songs from GLOW over others on AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAY, despite the latter being a superior album concept. "Moonchild" fades a good bit of R&B music released in 1985 period.

What Maxx has done, albeit very controversially, is hold a mirror up to the face of Prince fan(aticism). It is almost considered blasphemy to some, to suggest that Prince had a decline prior to 1991, where really, I felt that in his move further from typical radio confines he lost a little of what really made him great in the first place, and IMO... outside of the Time, there are only a few examples of Prince "producing" music for others that really hit outside of Paisley Park loyalists.

You can't take 80-87 away from Prince's career. The idea that he came up with something that everyone and their mother tried to imitate for a couple of years or so. I think a lot of people forget a lot of the missteps afterward though, because of it.

Nah...I'm not going to give Maxx too much credit on that one Doc...

It's obvious what's going on...Maxx targets all of the Lesson's favorites...All their sacred cows....And as I've said before, I dig that...Lord knows some acts on here get too much acclaim at the expense of underdog or super commercial acts who only get shitted on because they are popular...

But, unfortunately, in true Maxx fashion, he has once again gone off the rail to a level of obsessive, disrespectful behavior...

One day it's shitting on Al Green...the next it's Prince...And believe me, no artist is above criticism...But when it spins out of control to the point where u have someone saying Freddie Jackson is better than you know who, well, that's blatant trolling...

And you have to treat trolls how they want to be treated...

you got your agenda and that is fine and good for you.

i have given Prince his due, however like i always say Prince been studio shot since 88 and ain't no pass in alot of nothing material.

Prince 80-87 i give him his due and he is still worth seeing live, however i ain't riding for them stinking coaster albums he has put out for over 20 years.

no purple aid stains hear Homie.

I dig Al Green 70's era, its just i can't get into anything recent by him aside from his Gospel material.

Freddie Jackson is still tight Live and he has some cool material. he didn't overs saturate his thing.

the fact that Freddie could go to Roscoes chicken and waffles and riff with Luther Vandross in his prime well need i say more?

I give Prince 80's Props and he still is a great live performer however call a cat out who ain't put out anything memorable since Michael Spinks had a Belt as a champion.

but I love that you cited him as a reference.

My uncle took me to see Tyson whip Tyrell Biggs & Michael Spinks live in AC when I was a kid (both from the nosebleed seats) & I'll be forever indebted to him for that.

Maxxx, you are the missing link between ape and ignoramus.

You have considerable amounts of nerve to think you're going to sit here and talk about someone else' "agenda".

You've derailed more than enough conversations here in the Lesson and Amazon.com and Prince.org and god knows where all else with your kamikaze R.Kelly/Rick James loser hall of fame bullschitt.

Lovesexy, Batman and the Black Album are WAAAAY BETTER THAN ANYTHING Rick dropped post "Cold Blooded" & "17"...what year was that? '84?...cause that was the end of the line for Crack Pipe James.

Jealous 'ol Rick had to steal lil' P. Rogers equipment to get some magic in the studio didn't he?

The he couldn't recreate what little mojo he got out of P. Rogers' oberheim after Motown wanted him to make more hits...what did Rick do then?

If you said smoke his brains and wig off his head, you are correct.

Gone ahead and put the first two Sheila E. albums on there too...those are better than any of Rick's protegee. Yep.

And we got the Time AND the Vanity/Apollonia 6 albums right?

Hell the first Jesse Johnson album could've take Rick's old jealous smoked out ass out faster than Mike Tyson in 1985.

You sitting here talking about "coasters", nigga Rick James was a coaster factory by 1984.

And also...Rick's early schitt was just as much "Disco" as it was "Funk", all of this "punk funk" and "new wave" schitt is more stretch armstrong smoke & mirrors

I stand by my claim:

RICK JAMES HAD 2.3 ALBUMS OF MATERIAL WORTH A DAMN!!!

RICK JAMES CAREER RAN FROM 78-83!!!

That nigga would be a footnote just like Rockwell if it wasn't for MC Hammer & Dave Chappelle breathing some life back into his career.

Much like KISS...the only people that really dig Rick James music are scrubs and little kids that want to smoke cigarettes, because Rick wasn't real. Rick was all an act.

It's no wonder you champion someone who is so insecure.

With all of Rick's experiences and knack for rallying/manipulating folks to do his bid he could've had a really great career if he wasn't so much of a douchebag.

Just like your boy Kells, Rick let his own hype go to his head. Unfortunately Kells was not brought to justice...and will now spend the rest of his career pandering to Tyler Perry's (dumb ass) audience with more of his comic relief minstrelsy and phony soul singing.

I'll say it again,Maxxx:

NIGGA SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!

*snatches yr Milli Vanilli/Rick James wig off and throws it into the toilet*

s.blak
oh and "High On Yr Love"? <----I spy a fake ass Jimmy Castor salsa break

i figure your one man act of being Willie Tyler and Lester since you inject your own inner puppet into your act here is about right.

turkey I treat you like that Whale in Freey Willy and send you back into the tank like a reject from Comic View.

Lovesexy was met with Hit and miss and you know this. that was the start of the of Prince in the studio and you know this.

Batman was a desperate attempt and Prince was jumping head first with Jaws turkey.

the Black Album is a bad joke and Rick James or any other FUnkateer never had to put out a Album to reclaim there Blackness or there funk roots. 3 Massive "L"s in the Prince column there.

as Much as I dig Jesse Johnson and I dug that debut album, Jesse Johnson Ralph Sampson to Rick James's Hakeem Olajawon. and we all know how that turned out. nuff said.

the time first two albums and mainly "what time is it" is really there only album on a whole that counts. after 82 they got some tight stuff and spare tires and alot of filler.

vanity 6, appolonia 6 ain't seeing no Mary Jane girls.

Shelia E badd Musician and a important talent scout for Prince, but she couldn't carry Lady T. Teena Marie's Revlon kit and you know this Turkey.

if 78-83 was the best of Rick James well guess what that is the mark of a Great run because most acts don't half the kind of run and impact he did period.

albums, songs and tours that stand out still.

and why you gotta mention R.Kelly? I mean he has been the Modern day King of R&B since you had your first Pager.

i know you love some Kellz, because i heard your neighbors talk about it on TMZ about you steppin on the Balcony with Betty as you call her and nearly fell over while listening to Bump and Grind.

its cool.

yo to quite a few folks Prince ain't made nothing new since 20 years back and then there are folks who ain't felt Prince since 84 and remember turkey it is alll subjective and your opinion.

as if Prince and that symbol wasn't a Bad Joke?

as if 2 striaght decades of wack Music ain't a Bad Joke?

as if Being a Vegas Lounge act ain't a Bad Joke?

were it not for me growing up and remembering when prince was actual Bad and I was just going off the 90's til now, well Prince would be about as remembered as Junior or Rocky Robbins.

i know you is a Purple Diabetic and they got Medication for your condition.

Rick james Glow I'll take over around the world in a day and Parade put together. Prince with that Mama's and papas flower power tired trite lost his natural mind with alot of that hippie flippie syrup.

the only one wearing a wig is you turkey. half baked Al Sharpton Meets Broke and ashy Paul Mooney Meets Dl Hughley.

poor poor turkey lost your steady checks on COmic View and couldn't make the cut on WILDin out or Yo Mama semi finals so you come to the lesson.

jive turkey coming at me and this turkey all excited because he finally got the Box set of "that's my Mamma" and He all Ted Lange and a Grin like he is Isacc and and trying to come at me with his spin of the story.

keep it coming Playa

truth of the matter is Prince NEVER considered Rick James a rival of his. It was ALWAYS Rick who made comments abt Prince and did things to give the public/writers the impression the feud was mutual. (this is something even Teena Marie said)

Prince was known to routinely show up at Rick James concerts on the back of his bodyguard, Chic, and the entire crowd would follow him emptying out of the concert to which Rick James would be furious and threatened to kick Prince's ass because of it. lol

Prince is a once in a lifetime *LEGEND*. Rick James is a guy who will be remembered more for his wild antics and drug abuse (and for being the punchline on Dave Chappelle's comedy skits) than he will for his music contributions.

Teena Marie said while he publicly bashed Prince, he silently *DUG* Prince's music but she said he would never admit it publicly.

Rick's drug addiction started to have an adverse affect on his career and subsequently his star was fading as Prince's was rising and Rick really thought Prince should have helped him get his career back on track since he was now 1 of 2 of the biggest stars on the planet and since Rick gave Prince his shot by allowing him to open for him but Prince never did.

Rick is a true pioneer in the history of the funk movement but he wasn't on Prince's level as far as overall musicianship, writing, live performance, album concepts, producing, and engineering.

Prince understated assholery is baffling, I could see him all willy nilly stroll his lil' 3.3 ass all the way to the front seat just to blow a kiss to Slick Rick and then split.

it's true. Prince didn't consider Rick a true rival.

Place them guitar for guitar - Prince would run circles around him.

Keys for keys - same difference.

Honestly even on bass.

I love Rick tho for who he was and what he brought to the table however I don't consider him a funk pioneer at all... if anything he came much later in the life of funk... and when cross compared to real funk artists like Funkadelic, or Betty Davis or Roger - to me he was more R&b than we realize. At least that's how I view songs like Superfreak, Give It To Me Baby - the funk look was borrowed directly from Bootsy and since the bass was the hot ticket for black musicians (sorta like how MPC's are now) he was labeled a funk artist. He did have some funk joints but sometimes being as well rounded as Rick was - that label doesn't justify it.
