I'm noticing that the volume of the audio from the mic isn't quite where I'd like it. During the calls, the mic sits on a desk surface about 18 inches away from my head.
I'm not looking for something that a Shure mic would produce, but I'm wondering if there's some device, hopefully under $60 that I could buy that would improve the 'smoothness' of the sound. The fidelity sounds a little 'tinny' to me, although I'm no audiophile.
Does anyone have any advice on equipment to buy? Or is the main issue is the relatively large distance of the mic from my mouth?

a different mic would get you more low frequency sounds but i would open Audacity and test to see what the sweet spot is distance-wise for your microphone
