something along the lines of ico,shadow of colossus, okami, and to a lesser degree katamari? hell okami almost made me wish i kept my ps2 just off a demo.
gears of war, halo, they all look great but theyre all games that we always see, 3rd person shooters or FPS.
didnt ms try to get original with blinx and oddworld?
if they released something like shadow with next gen power, it could be great.

Saints Row comes out, and it borrows from GTA, and now all the sudden there aren't any innovative 360 games? gtfohwtbs.

The 360 has plenty of solid games that offer new twists in their genres. Dead Rising, while doesnt look like much on the surface, is a pretty unique game once you really play it. Condemned and Call of Duty 2 pushed the first person genre further than similar games have gone before. Oblivion really was the first RPG that played like a first person action game. The whole character morphing of Kameo had never really been done before in a platform game (that game is heavily slept on btw). And upcoming 360 games like Viva Pinata, Shadowbane and Portal are wildly unique.
This post is retarded. Why single out the 360 when its same crop of games that are being released on ALL systems, including current gen.
I mean, really, what more do you want? If you desperately want to try new or wild shit, then Japan-exlusive games are your market. Over there, there are a lot of strange games that never see the light of day in america because the shit is too wierd and they know it wont sell in the States.
If you like that kinda stuff, why'd you get a 360? You could have got a DS and like 8 games for the same price.
Most of what you'll see on 360 will either be ports of PC games, or stuff from EA or Ubisoft that's on every system anyway. You won't be seeing a ton of Japanese games on a system that is a failure in Japan.
There is some interesting stuff coming down the road like Portals, but you probably should have kept your PS2 if you like Japanese games. Hell, buy a new one, they're only $130 and there are still a bunch of great games coming to the system like Yakuza and God of War 2. Or you could just wait til Wii drops and get that.

Even if you were counting all the Japanese published 360 games, they would pale in comparison to Sony’s offerings, to say nothing of Nintendo which will have more weird stuff than you can shake a Wiimote at.
I think if 360 is going to get some good alternative games it will probably come from American or European devs doing something different (like Portals) or from XBLA.

ou're basically comparing the complete unknown to established franchises.
I don't care where the games come from as long as they're good, and I think, given a roughly equal market position, the 360 has more potential than the ps3, altho we'll see how that "linux on the hdd" thing works out.

All I'm saying is that in the same way you wouldn't buy a PC and expect great fighting games, you don't get a MS system and expect quirky Japanese games. If you want that, DS, Wii and PS2 are your best bets.

except for Ico (which was a little over a year after the japanese launch of the PS2). The things is, the PS2 userbase was already kinda huge, so you're likely to have a higher percentage of "innovation". There was nothing necessarily inherent in the PS2 itself that caused it to happen.
If 360 becomes the new PS2 saleswise, you'll get more "innovation". In the meantime, go play The Outfit.

not now. they gotta wait to get a good foothold on the competition before they start going through they "game of passion" phase. think about it. a few of those games up above were released in the last 2-3 years of ps2's lifespan. which is still going on btw.
