9. "2x All-Star and Top Five center isn't much hype." In response to In response to 0 Thu Jan-26-17 02:40 PM by SoulHonky
I mean, David Lee and Roy Hibbert are two time All-Stars. And Noah probably would have won the DPOY that Gasol won had he not gotten hurt.
And over the past five years or so, the center position has been weak. I mean, they changed the All-Star voting partly because weak options like Jamaal Magloire were making it. Only now with Towns, Drummond, Gobert emerging is there competition. In the past, spots 6 - 10 were guys like Big Al Jefferson, Greg Monroe, Larry Sanders.
I think he's rated correctly. He's a key part of the Grizzlies' success but he's not a #1 star, is possibly a #2 guy on a playoff team, and #3 on a true title contender.
If he makes the All-Star game as a reserve, it's probably a nod from coaches who like his game, have known him longer, and want to recognize him instead of the young guys like Gobert. Or they might not like Cousins.
