staring at his feet while she sat nearby

i could tell he was in heaven as he had nothing to say
looking like a regular rabble rouser
i laughed to myself

i actually smiled
for the first time in a long while
thinking that love has a chance
i found myself downtown, drunk, high, a few hours later
and going home, i randomly sat next to a speech impediment of my own
there she sat, challenging me with random questions
daring to speak to me
i even told her

she just laughed

it was a good evening
my faith in love was reinstated
and my confidence instigated
