Of course it would come back on right after I spent 90 minutes hauling firewood through 10 inches of frozen snow at my parents' house to replenish my supply. But yeah, very nice to have heat other than just the fireplace.
Overall the experience reminded me a lot of my time in Japan - three winters in an uninsulated house with only a kerosene heater in one room, in a place that gets a minimum 6' snowpack every winter. I made it through fine, but then again I was 25 and now I'm in my 40s.
