Speaking as someone with no knowledge of how to cut my own hair, it’s probably the best bet if you care about your onscreen appearance.
Non-Black productions with Black cast members likely put no thought into how crisp a fade is or how well-laid a Black woman’s edges are. You don’t know what you don’t know.
Black productions might not have the budget to keep barbers and hairdressers on hand full time.
Then you have general bad decisions like the Tyler Perry/Walking Dead braid/dread wigs.
Memes are showing us even the “regular” barbers are getting testy and charging hundreds to thousands for house calls or standard appointments.
