Pegg isn't going to get as much hate because the hate stems from success. If Hot Fuzz had opened at #1 or #2 and made 40+ million, I'm sure you'd hear a lot more people hating on it. If Run Fatboy Run was #1 or #2 more people would hate on it.
If Perry's films made moderate amounts of money, most people would ignore them and I'm sure some people would even be saying "Well, they aren't my cup of tea but it's good to see someone making positive African-American films out there."
I'd say wait a week until Leatherheads but I bet that bombs as well and, as a director, Clooney isn't touching Perry's box office success either.
And honestly, the apathy (Superhero movie bombing and no post) is harsher than the hate IMO.
