Because Hip-hop was invaded and pilfered faster than any music, ever, as in, the culture that created it *never* Really owned it. *Never*.
That's what Chuck is pointing out and complaining about.
Rap was a sitting duck for all the shit that EVERYONE dislikes about it (commercial artists from 5 years ago bitch about rap just like anyone else)
>This is in no ways a shot at the legendary Chuck D. That >argument has merit but I can see people responding negatively >to it. All art forms have to grow and change. The new wave of >artists can't replicate a past sound completely because then >the art form doesn't change. I could go on but the gist of it >is, everyone can't rap a certain way.
That has nothing to do with anything, actually. All forms of music change.
>We see this argument playing out now with the OGs decrying the >lack of elements prominence in mainstream culture. Like I >said, no shots meant at legends or anyone else but this is >playing out now. Some people say the OGs are crying because >their region isn't the center of the universe.
Nah, Chuck made his beefs very clear. That he had Ebro and Rosenberg foaming out of the mouth and sounding like imbeciles kinda proves that he had a point. Not to mention that Chuck got a LOT of support from his stance, from young and old people.
>I think Chuck D's statement is right because he an icon of >this culture so I'll ride with him and respect his >perspective.
