This is in no ways a shot at the legendary Chuck D. That argument has merit but I can see people responding negatively to it. All art forms have to grow and change. The new wave of artists can't replicate a past sound completely because then the art form doesn't change. I could go on but the gist of it is, everyone can't rap a certain way.
We see this argument playing out now with the OGs decrying the lack of elements prominence in mainstream culture. Like I said, no shots meant at legends or anyone else but this is playing out now. Some people say the OGs are crying because their region isn't the center of the universe.
I think Chuck D's statement is right because he an icon of this culture so I'll ride with him and respect his perspective.
