i think it's an older term.
it actually has a meaning for women: to be striking but not conventionally good looking.
oddly enough? that's how i view Tessa Thompson. like, i think she's fine, but i wouldn't call her "conventionally good looking". she looks different than most women (i think its the cheekbone structure?) to me but still good looking.
also, randomly two days ago i ran across Tessa's cousins tik tok. she favors Tessa a lot but i would say she's more "conventionally good looking."
lastly, i don't watch Ted Lasso so i didn't know she was on there but i did know Waddington was the Shame nun (i dont' know the characters name either, haha).
