I have close friends who pledged, and we never talk about it. I don't ask, because I know they'd never tell me what they went through.

But there's that random conversation. One of my friends told me if he had to do it all over again, he wouldn't have done it. He says it was "a complete waste of time". He's in good standing with his frat bros, and does stuff in the name of his frat, but he never wears his letters.

Another dude on his line came by the crib to visit us after they crossed, and looked me dead in the eye and told me "don't ever do it".


I knew right then that it wasn't my thing.
