Unfortunately I think he has gotten more shine from the (white) establishment in pursuit of that messiah to be like "LOOK, HE CAME ALONG AND EVERYTHING WAS BETTER!" than he has from black history. I guess it has to do with the era he was in, before everything was shot straight into your living room in living color. Then again guys from Ali's same era like Arthur Ashe don't get their due either, but there are other reasons for that, I suppose.
