"In what sounds like the premise for a movie that might be nominated for an Oscar, the custom Calvin Klein Collection dress that Lupita Nyong’o wore to the Oscars on Sunday—which was made out of 6,000 white Akoya pearls—has reportedly been stolen, according to TMZ. The outlet says that the dress—which was widely heralded as one of the standout dresses of the night (and which was included on our own best-dressed list)—was snatched out of her hotel room at the London West Hollywood. The gown—which is valued at $150,000—was said to have been taken at some point between the hours of eight A.M. and nine P.M. on Tuesday, while Nyong’o was out of the room; the call came into the sheriff’s office around 11:30 P.M. on Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Times. (TMZ says that cops are currently examining security footage in an effort to track down the thief.)
The London Hotel told E! News, in a statement, “This is a terribly unfortunate situation, and we are working with law enforcement on their investigation.”"
This reminds me of the dumb crooks who steal priceless paintings that they then cannot sell because a unique item on the market that everyone knows is stolen can't easily be gotten rid of.
You can't exactly roll up in the club wearing the Lupita dress. They might have plans to take all the stones off it though.
