and it's not like they would be hard to remove from the dress or easy to trace.

and stolen art is defniitely easy to sell. Some Russian Oligarch / oil magnate will glady hang a stolen painting in his 300 room castle and it'll barely be glanced at by passerby's. It's not like people in the homes of wealthy people are researching everything on their walls.
