There are mass shootings here every day and they barely get talked about anymore. If we weren’t at least a little bit numb to it we’d be crying all day every day. With social media, we are constantly hearing about death in real time, it wasn’t like that when we were growing up. I think it has more to do with that than something happening in other countries. Also, I think it’s natural to feel things more when it happens close to home.
